great video, but the white letters makes it hard to read due to the background light on the video.
    thanks for posting it

Gerald, you had to custom cut that threshold correct?

Thanks for the video. I'm about to do my first one and it happens to be a Kawneer brand.
I am curious though, your videos are a few years old and I was wondering how you've made out with your business and if you still do any of this type of work.

Yes we still do door repairs including storefront, locksmith service and door installations. Service has been our main focus though we have had a lot of new installations during the boom.

My buddy's store has the same pivots with the bottom one having a flathead screw just like the one shown in your video. The problem is that the door sags and rubs against the frame where the handle is....and it also rubs against the bottom sill. This prevents the door from closing fully. You can actually lift the door up by the handle and it will close fully.
    .
Q: Can I use that screw on the pivot to adjust the door so it doesn't sag?

Underneath the flat head screw (cover ) is an Allan-head adjustment screw. You may be able to adjust it up...if there is any adjustment left. Make sure when you put the cap back on you use an anti-seize on the cap. I have found when it is not used you may not be able to remove it. I have had to drill the cap off...keep in mind the adjustment screw is right under it and you have to be perfect. You may want to order a replacement pivot set anyway...just to be sure,

Gerald Hiebert Thank you so much for the info. Will try and see if this adjustment will work.

No problem when ordering pivot make sure the area the cover is is flat...if it is at an angle it is an Arch not a Kawneer

I apologize for the tardiness of this suggestion check your reveal to determine if the door needs to come up all the way across or if it's just the strikes side needs adjustment if it is the strike side try corner blocking the glass that will help prevent door sag on just one side and it's even more critical on doors with an IG unit due to a lot more weight

right and then after struggling for 3 hours on a pivot overhaul you get back to the shop and your boss says " hey what took you so long son" as if he forgot that 3 days ago did the same thing and it took 3 hours again and don't try telling him why it took 3 hours better off if you can get him in the field and show him I'll make him do it. just a typical day in the life of a glazier

Could also call the number that's on the label of the door for 24 hour emergency service 😋

LOL I didn't even notice the sticker. Many companies in our area stick them on doors and may not even have ever serviced it. We would hope that the sticker is from a local company that knows doors but not always the case.

Just put surface mounted roton hinges.

I consistantly recomend the Pemko Continuos hing but having a part that's 4 times the price with large item shipping on top. makes a lot of our customers request more cost effective option. We usually explain the benefits of long life span and able to help remove gaps in doors and make them appear more square even after buiding sagging degradation. I whole heartidly agree with you on using a continuos hing...this video was originally created for my install guys as a second option for those who wanted a patch before getting complete new storefront installed. Thank you for pointing that out Joseph!

No problem I completely understand customers always want more cost effective. In the long run the continuous hinges take a lot more beating than pivots. I’m located in néw jersey we are always doing repairs on bottoms pivots.
