Very helpful by including all the steps. I've changed dozens of regular locks, but usually called in someone to do these. Thanks to your step-by-step video, I just did my first one. This will save me a ton. Thanks!
I need to make my single cylinder store front lock into a double cylinder and install a stainless steel collar (if I can find one). Now I can get the lock off. I didn't know how to get it off until now. Thank you.
@walterroach8572 for the most part they can be universal. But, you need yo check to make sure the lock itself works with the current latch. Ignore not, you will have to replace everything. It's kind of the same as with storm door handles. Yes they are universal, but if a specific bran is slightly different than standard, you may have to do modifications. So just make sure that what you take put and what you put in match up. I hope that helps
Great video, I have a similar door and wanted to change the inside out for a panic bar and the outside for a locking lever handle. But everything I see looks like it needs a wider frame surface. Mine is just a little wider than deadbolt, and has that same small cutout on frame lip so inside part of deadbolt does not hit it. So I'm guessing same size. Any idea on what to call the type that would work? The narrow door frame is the problem. Thanks !!!
Awesome. I'm glad my video helped and saved you money. That is my intentions with these videos.. don't forget to click that like button.. and share my videos and channel.
Thanks, Tommy. The set screw on the inside is rusted and I can't get it out. Tried Philips head and regular screwdrivers, but neither get any grip. The whole interior locking mechanism is rusted from hurricane damage. Any hints?
How do you troubleshoot a key cylinder in a commercial storefront door when locked from the outside? I'm unable to unlock it from the inside thumb throw. Thank you for your help
I have the same exact looking door handles on my door at my place of business. Looks like the small nuts that hold the outside handle fell off somewhere inside the door. outside door hangle fell off and I have no apparent access to the inside of the door to retrive them. Would you be able to tell or make a quick video of how to reattach the outside handle?
Good question, so I dont recommend opening up the door itself. You could break the glass or warp the door.. either just replace it new, or call an actual commercial door company. It's not safe to attempt that, without experience. I wont make any video that shows anyone how to do something I don't or won't do myself. I hope this helps.. just replace new, and keep going
Amazon or if you have a commercial construction supply house in your area, you can check there too. But Amazon typically has everything you need. You can check Lowes or Home Depot. They sometimes will have what you need in some situations
@lmyyg1897 I don't think so. These type of doors are typically thik enough for that type of system. Now, someone might make a system like that for them, but I personally have not seen it.
I personally have not tried to do that, but as long as all the internals line up correctly i dont see why not. You will have to turn the key in the opposite direction. But it should work
Can someone tell me how to remove the lock on doors without the side plate? Our church has an old-style door without a side plate. It appears that there is a hole drilled in the door itself on the outside lock cylinder, but both have recently been replaced. Thanks
After attempting this because of your video, I broke the lock mechanism causing over 600$ in damages. The owners are suing me and forced me to go bankrupt. This resulted in my wife leaving me with my kids and taking my truck . Because of your video, my life is ruined! Hope you’re proud of yourself!

@@TommyCanFixIt question for you. I need to change one out. It is currently a US Lock. Are the storefront locks universal? Can any of them be used?
@walterroach8572 for the most part they can be universal. But, you need yo check to make sure the lock itself works with the current latch. Ignore not, you will have to replace everything. where do u buy those locks from?
Amazon is a great place. Also check your local area for any supply houses that deal with commercial property materials
Tommy, why did you have to add the extra ring on it?
Omg thanks 😅 big help
No problem. I'm glad I could be of assistance. Don't forget to subscribe
Thank you ✊🏿💯
How Colman are storefronts lock? Thinking to replace it
How common???
Thanks a lot it helps me
thank you lifesaver
Beautiful
very helpful
Are these type of lock are the same?
Where is the best place to buy this lock?
Amazon, unless your town has a store especially for these types of doors
?Where did you get the tumbler(key cylinder)?
Amazon or if you have a commercial construction supply house in your area, you can check there too. But Amazon typically has everything you need. You can check Lowes or Home Depot. They sometimes will have what you need in some situations
Question, how do you know what cylinder to order for replacement?
There is usually a number on the lock. But most of them are universal size.
can you put a keypad entry on this type of door?
@lmyyg1897 I don't think so. These type of doors are typically thik enough for that type of system. Now, someone might make a system like that for them, but I personally have not seen it.
Can you reverse the the lock part and put in on the other side?
I personally have not tried to do that, but as long as all the internals line up correctly i dont see why not. You will have to turn the key in the opposite direction. But it should work
Thank you Your Videois very helpful

Where can I get same lock? I lost the key and can’t find one to replace it :(
Check the model number of the lock, and you should find it on Amazon. If not, find I commercial windows and door wholesaler
Thank you
What do you do when the lock works fine but won’t lock from the inside?
Then either it needs adjustment, or the locking mechanism on the inside if loose or broken.
Next time when you have the cylinder out of the lock, always lubricate the inside deadbolt.
What the name of the lock?
Thanks
A pair of mole grips and done :)
You don't oil anything??????😂
You forgot to clean and lube it.

I'm sorry all of that happened to you, but you broke the lock, not me or my video.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
