Mystery Ranch x Carryology | The Unicorn Returns

- It began with pack so rare and elusive that it became our unicorn.
6 years later, destiny struck, and we’d work with our heroes to bring it back to life. Make it better. More attainable. At least for a few minutes… before it was gone, again.
But we proved something back then, unicorns could evolve. Get better.
So we've teamed up with one of the world’s greatest pack makers - Mystery Ranch - to launch the second-coming.
The Unicorn 2.0.
Designed to be carried from trail to tarmac, an icon upgraded, wild and untamed, a myth now reality, once again.

Huge Mystery Ranch and Carryology fan but it's too rich for my blood. At least v1 was.
The side pockets have no gussets, bellows, or darts, therefore they diminish the internal volume of the main pack space. Not being able to see how the internal volume is apportioned I suspect paralysis by compartmentalization.
My juices aren’t squelched, but they ain’t flowin’ either.
Same design as the BEAMS and the Unicorn 1.0 - both much loved packs and community favorites. We find the pockets a dream. ;)
@@CarryologyTVhes right. They need gussets or bellows.
@@PumpUptheJam81 i dont think its possible with xpac material. Not stretchy enough. If they did find a way for it to not eat into main compartment space though that'd be cool
Awesome! Since the OG pre-dates my entry into the Carry Universe I’ve been reluctant to go back and try an acquire the Unicorn…now I’m excited to hunt this latest version and bring it to my channel! Nice job guys! 👊🏼
I want that orange one bad
so its a lightweight ASAP? but without the molle?
It's a little more than that - make sure to read the design article ;) - www.carryology.com/projects/carry-collaborations/mystery-ranch-x-carryology-the-unicorn-returns/
how many models of each were made?
great work! gonna make a cire xpac version of it.
when it goes live?
October 31st, 12:05PM Mountain Time
I need a unicorn 3.0 to have bedroll straps and to be made in Desert Night and/or Rhodesian brush camo.
If these are going to be just as rare and expensive as Version 1, then I'm out...
😎Make sure to read the design article. $375 and in plenty of colorways.
I need this bag. I’m not ashamed to say that I’m a Mystery Ranch fanboy!
Wish Id of been able to get the black at launch but the multicam/coyote is great for now. Til i track it down haha
This pack holds about 7 things total. If you carry serious EDC gear you need to look elsewhere. I recommend Scree 32 or 2DAP if you really want to stick with MR. My LBT 14liter fits more than this thing does. Models in the listing make this thing look double the size it really is.
It's bound to be the ideal EDC pack for me. But it's also bound to be ridiculously priced. Id guess it will be about $400. Which for the size is absurd, I hope I'm wrong though.
@@JedwoodsLess. $375 😎
Not liking the multicam & tan. Can I get it in just multicam?
Ha. That's not how this works, but totally worth asking!
Not at all over the top 😬
Love MR gear but dreading the price tag most likely attached to this model. Also, looks like there's no gussets or slack on the side pockets, forcing anything filling them into the interior reservoir. Guess I'll wait for a video review but will likely be sold out by the time I make up my mind.
Have a MR UA 24 and this looks like a great upgrade, but are there any integrated strap stays on the bag at all? I feel like this should be an easy include on bags costing this much...
Is this Made in the USA?
My last and 8th MR was the limited edition MC black Gunfighter 14 SB and was pretty poor quality for $600. One seam was sewn wrong leading to a crooked edge on the external back pocket. Mesh was pilling after a week wearing it against a cotton hoodie. I’ll probably try one more but if it’s not outstanding MR is gonna lose it’s position.
I only own their 6500 pack and it is amazing quality, however, after some research I came to find out that only their military line of Berry Compliant packs (such as the 6500) are still fully made in the US. I immagine that is the reason for such a drop in quality that you describe. While they don’t necessarily lie about this fact, they certainly don’t make this info readily available to customers, which does leave a bad taste in my mouth. I would only buy from their military line. Eberlestock does something similar. I always thought Eberlestock packs were US made, but they are made in Vietnam. If these companies were upfront about this, and if the quality of the foreign made packs was the same, i wouldn’t mind, but as your comment suggests, there is a marked drop in quality which is unacceptable for the price. It really is a shame. I’m glad I have my 6500, and it will probably last the rest of my life, but it was painful to pay so much for a pack
@@1mataleo1 I think the LE packs aka SB or special blend are all made in the USA. It’s certainly worse quality than my other USA made packs of which I have several. Now that you mention it I have a foreign made MR pack that has better seams than this one made in the USA.
Hm I wasn’t aware of that. I bought mine quite a few years ago. My 6500 seems bombproof, but that is a real shame if the quality of their US made packs has deteriorated, especially for the insanely high price. Do you have any packs from Kifaru or Exo Mountain Gear? I’m curious how they compare in terms of quality
@@1mataleo1 Yes I have a Exo Mtn K3 and it’s my best pack. My older MR is like yours, outstanding, I love my MC Metcalf which is perfect. That’s why I was willing to shell out 2x the money for 1/3 or less the size.
I’ve been eyeing that K3 6400 for a while. I’m definitely going to have to pick that up. Thanks
