An IDF Spokesperson's Unit said that the Sa'ar-6 class missile corvette INS Oz arrived in Israel on 10th June.
The ship anchored at the Navy base in Haifa after a journey of two weeks from Germany.
Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz and the commander of the Navy, Maj. Gen. Eli Sharvit participated in the ceremony marking the arrival of the ship.
The ceremony also included the crew of the INS Oz that returned to Israel with the ship.
The process of installation of weapons systems on the ship is being carried and the warship is expected to enter operation in the coming days.
Since the majority of this weaponry is of indigenous origin, the task of installation is being undertaken now.

I find it interesting that Aegis is not implemented but I gather that a variant is present. I also find it interesting that allies such as USA, Germany, Italy and others are there. Bottom line: Do not threaten Israel. I wish they changed some of their policies but that is their call. May they live in peace.
Interestingly, I was thinking the same thing regarding Aegis. On another note (in my opinion), I don’t think Israel can change many of its policies, without looking weak and vulnerable. Nor should they as the amount of rockets and other forms of munitions sent their way, is more than enough reason to respond with deadly force. They also do more than any other nation, to let civilians know, so that they can get out of harms way. It isn’t perfect but it’s certainly more than other nations do. But as I stated previously, it’s just my opinion.

If it had a few more missiles it would be more powerful than the RN type 45 🤣. They really know how to build effective weapons in both Germany and Israel. Unfortunately the Germans don't always maintain theirs.
and with the shorter deployment ranges of the ships as compared to the Royal Navy they don't need to have as many missiles on board as they can reload and rearm in port in between operations whereas the Royal Navy designs their ships to have the capability to fight multiple engagements in between replenishment operations.
@@jwenting these are coastal defense so short range. If you build a destroyer build one don't build a long range frigate. They could have stayed in the horizon class development if they are building these. They finally wised up and are going to arm them for missions after 1979.

@@jwenting Yes and no. Blue water capable. But will operate in the Mediterranean and perhaps Red Sea. Big Navy definitions and parameters don't always apply exactly to all other navies. The Israeli defense concept for her ships is versitility, fire power, and survivability. Our major blue water needs are handled in nonconventional ways.
During the Winter War the Finish Army would glide through Red Army encampments with their Finnish hunting knives.

That would be the most powerful Corvette built anywhere. Russia is going to fit some of it's new Corvettes with it's hypersonic missile at some point though.
Yrah but Russian missiles are more likely to hit the ship launching it than their targets. They have even worse maintenance and safety records than Germany under Von Der Leyen.

@@theancientsancients1769 it's only assembled in Turkey, without the weapons and sensors the rest of us supplied you would just have a fishing boat hull. The sensor suite on the Turkish vessels are only half as capable as the Israeli systems and the Sa'ar 6 is capable of energy based weapons something the Turkish vessels can't do without turning off everything else. And under your current leadership you aren't getting any upgraded systems or weapons anytime soon.

Not really. Iran is brilliantly using a lot of fast traditionally non-military speed boats and cigarette boats and arming them with short-range missiles. A lot of small, fast boats armed with missiles can be a problem even for more sophisticated, larger warships like these.

You should have read the 2018 reports after the growing aggression of Russia forced increased spending. Funny, I think that was my mind also. But it's a handsomer vessel. I admire Zumwalt the man, but I do not like the vessel class very much. I guess it's a question of function over beauty. I could watch the Burke's all day.
It predates them by one or two decades. And unlike the Zumwalt these actually have working weapons in both the original German design and the Sa'ar 6 version.

They did look at the LCS, but it was poorly protected and armed.
American individual ships other than the carriers are lightly armed, expensive, and too dependent on " pack " deployment that has to coordinate with more than two other ships to be really effective. Israel needs ships that can stand alone that can mount a formidable offensive attack as well as put up a very strong defense. America's expertise are heavy aircraft carriers that carry several fighter aircrafts, and hundreds if not thousands of personnel to man those ships.

Had this ship been covered in small caliber cannons firing at a spectacular rate of fire with high precision, essentially a whole bunch of CIWS or 25/35mm autocannons, also assisted with a whole bunch of missiles which could hit surface and air threats at short range, latter also having a very high velocity, I would have agreed that this ship was fit to fight the Iranian navy.
Iranian's navy is one thing and one thing only. Fast moving vessels which are meant to each launch a devastating strike; Go big or go home.
As much as the Italian deck gun is an outstanding platform, a faster firing gun like the mk110 bofor would have been a better fit had this Corvette been designed to counter the Iranian navy.

@@chadnelson1777 They carry missiles, torpedo's, etc generally between 1-4 depending on class. Google C14 class for example. This is what makes then an issue, they can swarm you. Alone they are just flies, but with enough of them, they are an issue. A faster rate of fire compared to a larger caliber is what the OP is saying would be better do to the swarm tactics.

Uh, it might be a powerful ship but I highly suspect it's a lot of exaggeration to say it can take on the entire Iranian navy.

Most of their surface fleet are about 40 years old fast attack crafts, 3 50 years old frigates and the 4 Moudge class light frigates that really does not pose a serious threat to any western modern ships really. They also have 3 Kilo class diesel-electric attack submarines about 30 years old, some midget submarines and some light patrolcrafts.

Gaza is the most crowded place in the world and the IAF has carried 1,500+ air strikes in Gaza in the last year,killing less than 300 people (both combatants and civilians) the Russian Air Force has killed almost 7000 Syrian civilians in Syria, that's more civilian casualties than the IAF has killed in all the Operations in Gaza, and Lebanon combined.
