I have been to HAIFA and several other Israeli cities and have a great deal of respect for ISREAL as a nation BUT ISRAEL is a welfare recipient of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and benefits from a special relationship with this country. That has allowed Israel to flourish and develop. No argument from a sane person can be presented to the contrary. While the arabs/Persians have done nothing on a united front to dissuade anyone from thinking that they are warlike and aggressive they have also contributed to the peace process of the region and it's economic development. Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the UAE are up and coming economic and military powers. Without Jordan and Egypt peace treaties Israeli security would be in great peril. So the ARAB nations have done a great deal with a lot less. The lingering question is what is ISRAEL going to do when it's population isn't a majority of Jews? That's going to be interesting to say the least.

A ballistic missile is fired from the launch tube... it hits the surface climbs to a very short altitude and then the actual missile fires while in the air and of course flies to the target. I guess you could get enough momentum to launch it horizontally have it leave the water and then the actual engines for delivery to the target cann ignite and send it on it's way. So I guess yes, I'm skeptical of horizontal launch tubes for a ballistic missile.

Israel can afford to start submarine construction -- The Israeli economy has already reached an annual GDP of $350 billion. By the time that the first piece of steel is cut, it will be half a trillion, enough, I would say, to allocate a billion per year on submarine construction.

How cool. I'm a US citizen and then Israeli citizen. As citizens of both these countries I am extremely proud. To imagine a country that only became a country in 48 at fought many many wars. What this country has achieved in every aspect of an economy from making the desert Bloom literally to its immensely strong military with such a small population and a country the size of new jersey. I dunno why Israel would bother with nukes when they got the backing of the US and most of EU nations. In a scenario where Israel is invaded through conventional means, and they retaliate with nuclear weapons, would probably be a bad image for them drawing the ire of the citizens of their allied nations. It’d be far more cheaper and realistically feasible for them to play innocent, like South Korea, nukes upkeep are a pain to the economy, and there will be Israelis who don’t want nukes in their backyard as well. Unless of course they see their US protectors as something that can’t be depended for help for a retaliotary strike.

The so called, aId is solely being giving as a discount form on purchases made by israel directly to US companies.
I'll say it again, the money comes from the Israeli economy to U.S companies and manufacturers.
Nothing is being giving to Israel freely, and the US benefits from israel re-investing in U.S based companies and manufacturers and sharing it's technology, intelligence, combat experience and of course it saves what it would have cost the u.s to gain and maintain a foothold in the region.
