I will never get over the fact they removed fireflies because irl frogs can't eat them. It was such a cool idea to add them in the game and then they took them away to make frogs eat slimes instead.
If I had to guess they probably scrapped the idea not because of the environmental reasons, but because they couldn't get them to work how they wanted to. If they made fireflies a biome particle effect like you see in the nether, the frogs wouldn't be able to eat them. If they made them a mob, they'd both clog up the spawn cap and not really look right either.
@@kerbehklobbah5790 Actually, making them a biome particle would've been perfect, because the quoted reason for their removal was that they were toxic to frogs, so having tons of them all throughout the swamps without filling the mob cab would've been perfect
@@botondzoltannagy8849 That would be a great idea, however, it would remove all the risk, danger, and complexity of building mob switches, which Mojang probably wouldn't like, so unless they have some sort of system where you can only have so many fireflies spawned in at a time, which would likely make filling larger areas with them difficult on single-player worlds, let alone multi-player worlds and servers. It's a great idea on the surface, and I'm impressed that you came up with it, but it's just got a few major issues that would make properly implementing it very difficult, unfortunately
The thing is not even all fireflies are toxic, some frogs can eat. Honestly I think they could have it as a mob that could interact with the player similarly to a parrot, landing on the player's hand, head, or shoulders. (Yes I know parrots can only land on the shoulders, hence being similar and not exact-) anyways I think it would be pretty, and especially as there aren't many swamp exclusive mobs, hell maybe they can do a thing where there's two separate entities for fireflies, a mob, which are far less of, and decorative entity or biome particle.
3:21 The main reason they prioritize food is so you can more easily get your stolen items back without killing them (but they should make it so that they prioritize _sweet berries_ specifically instead of all food items).
Wanna know what pack animal is ALSO commonly used in caravans? _Camels._ They should make tamed Llamas follow the camel when the player is riding it, instead of the annoying lead gimmick. It doubles as making Llamas _actually_ usable, while also giving the Camel more of a purpose outside of an alternate Horse. (sorry this is like my billionth comment)
llamas are so annoying because they were used IRL by peruvian indigenous groups as a cargo animal that can climb 3000m+ very steep mountains yet their caravan pathfinding explodes once you move 0.0001cm above them. Maybe if they could climb 2 blocks at a time and jump at will they'd be better but as of today they're a victim of minecraft's everlasting problems with pathfinding in general.
I didn’t even know they have a caravan function, I thought the footage of them ponying was just made for promotional material and not something in game. I’ve tried many times to play with llamas because I do a LOT with mules, donkeys, and horses.
I never even considered that foxes could use maces Also it’s worth noting that Piercing makes the crossbow the only practical ranged option that can counter shields, so it’s good for pvp. Llamas can’t be ridden because they aren’t strong enough to be ridden in real life and can only be used as pack animals.
I do wish you could shear llamas, that'd be more like real life too! Being able to get leather and wool from the same mob would be nice (though having to breed them with entire haybales is ridiculous...). camels and llamas are related too, maybe camels could be included in caravans or have the carpet designs...
Those kind of people are the MAJORITY of the people who play Minecraft or ANY game it's just the BEST way to feel satisfied doing smt in the game and most other play styles ESPECIALLY casual is just downright boring
yeah, the gameplay style of rusing is great, anyone should play how they like, however I agree with you, if they chose that style they should just move on, and let other player enjoy chill with all the other features
In my opinion, practically all of active people on the social media have that thing were they rush elytra, optimize everything, make megabuilds and have all that set path. but there is a larger side. just casual players who wanna play the game as it is. also another theory is that this playerbase has a larger side on bedrock edition, were there isn't many youtubers/influencers that play on it.
You know what my recommendation is? Keep playing in one world. I have a big spread out world now, with close to 70 separate bases, and they're all linked via a massive underground tunnel network that allows me to travel from any base to any base without going above ground. What I did too, is I marked every base with a chiselled nether brick, and mark the underground tunnels with red nether brick, two blocks that don't appear naturally, so I can view my world in Unmined with those blocks highlighted to see a visual map of my massive tunnel system and where all my bases are.
@@ducksongfans Ironically, that's one of the things I've never actually done, is build on a mushroom island. Closest I've ever gotten is converting an Ocean Monument into a guardian farm.
I've honestly used the crossbow a LOT more than a regular bow in recent times so I'm happy to see it mentioned! Something you didn't bring up that I want to mention is how crossbows can be PRELOADED while regular bows can't. It's frankly the primary reason I use crossbows. A regular bow may be fast, but a pre-charged crossbow is INSTANTANEOUS, no delay required. I've found this one feature to be very convenient in certain scenarios. Is a regular bow still quicker overall? Yes. Regular bows are still objectively better, don't get me wrong. If you want a more powerful & practical ranged weapon, the bow is the obvious choice. But for me, I'll stick with my trusty ol' crossbow :)
@@isloths sigh.... now that you don't mention it.... emperorpenguin1217 with his already low attention span won't even know this and call them objectivly useless sorry... im just feel bad because he parades your videos to spread his outdated belifs that he runs away from when challgend
I don't see why armor trim templates have to be consumed. When you make a cake or use lava to fuel a furnace, the buckets don't disappear. Just do that with armor trims. It's purely cosmetic so I don't see why they can't be an infinitely reusable item.
I have no idea why the video maker complained about strip mining for diamonds, when the entire point of caves update was to make megacaves the main way to get diamonds. Find a big open deepslate cavern (usually near mountains and open all the way to surface) and leave with stack or two of diamonds.
@@benshulz4179 I find that to be incredibly boring and strip mining is still much faster than finding a cave and exploring it. A lot of players, like myself, really don’t like going underground at all.
My problem with llamas is that leads are so easy to break that it gives me anxiety that at any moment my items could get lost because of some bs or minecraft's mob pathfinding
Another interesting thing about piercing is that you can reuse tipped arrows to get infinite effects. This is especially useful in Multiplayer PvP, because you can shoot allies with regen or other good effects infinitely.
@@lukasVGLyeah, it's just so insanely easy and just makes the dragon breath receptive not just obsolete, but obsCURE. I wish we had something like that on Java
I think the duplication recipe for trims should be 1 trim, 1 diamond, and 7 corresponding blocks cause when you look at trims, it’s stone etched with diamonds, not diamonds etched with stone
I like the current recipe for Armor Trims, it somehow ups the value of Diamonds close to the earlier days of Minecraft. Because prior to Smithing Templates, Diamonds became undervalued due to the Villager trades, loot chests, Netherite upgrade, and the limited amount of items you can craft with it.
Fax, diamonds really aren't that great anymore. Personally I'm not a huge fan of netherite I felt it was cooler when diamonds were top of the food chain. That at least made them feel special.
@@isloths Idk about you, but I believe that since netherite is literally used to upgrade diamond gear, it strenghten its relevancy, but I also think diamonds should get more practical uses (ie : maybe a mystical villager would trade diamonds for special items that could acquire hard ressources to find idk ). As for armor trims, I totally agree, I'd rather see the price reduced to 3 diamonds, for something cosmetic. Netherite upgrades can stay at 7 though, I don't mind.
Fun fact. After the villager trade rebalance. Taiga armourers can trade a block of diamonds for 42 emeralds. That is op but diamonds are suppose to be op. I wish that was the case for all armourers.
Diamonds have bigger value than in early days before smithing templates already. Netherite actually greatly INCREASED their value. Also loot chests in the game vary from underwhelming to simply laughable. Of course Dimond could get more uses but... 7 diamonds to replicate an COSMETIC item is actually way to costly. It's like pretending diamonds are nearly nothing. Actually even 1 diamond (and 7 pieces of corresponding block) would still be kinda expensive for that, but at least acceptable. While they deserve far better uses than that. Also they should make enchanting table actually viable alternative to trading. (But - excluding the fact that netherrite upgrade template in itself was bad idea - in case of netherite upgrade template the 7 diamond cost at least is somewhat understandable)
@@Lyokoheros-KLPXTV The rarer the item, the more valuable it is. That's the principle in economics. Low supply, high demand, high value. The more recent locations for potential diamonds gradually decreases its value. You don't also want the recipe to be cheaper too for the risk of making a power creep. Totems of Undying and the current way Mending is obtained are the notable power creeps.
My issue with the "useless" features isn't that I'm one of those semi speedrunners who rushes elyta and misses some stuff. It's that a long time ago in a galaxy far far away when a "useless" feature was added to the game it was something like they added a new flower that spices up certain biomes. Now if I want some new flowers I have to deal with my unlucky world generation and spend actual IRL days to find some stupid egg to get an animal that will give me these flowers at a slow rate without building some farm and I don't even really like the look of these flowers I'm just a semi completionist who has to have them. Or the froglights. To get the associated achievement I have to go find a frog, get the frogspawn, go to another biome that might be far away to get the special color, bring it to the nether, and make it eat small magma cubes, and then if I want to keep my frogs at home I have to do all that and probably lead them around a long distance. How about we just do things the way we did a long time ago in a galaxy far far away like you want to add froglights? Go to a swamp, have the frogs eat fireflies, then it drops a froglight. Or they want to add the torchflower and pitcher pod? Make them spawn naturally in the mangrove swamp where they already kind of fit in. Useless features used to be just a cool thing that you could collect or do because you wanted to. Now every single addition has to have some grindy game mechanic behind it like getting a music disk that I will never listen to from a bastion, what could have been something nice and simple that someone somewhere wanted in the game is now harder to get because we need that game retention or whatever. People wouldn't be as upset over these mob votes if whatever they added, even if it was useless, didn't turn THE PEOPLE WHO VOTED FOR IT against it because they didn't realize they were voting for a whole grindfest for something as simple as a different light source block. At the very least the half of the community who voted for it would like it instead of the entire community hating it.
Whenever minecraft adds new features, I think about how a new player would stumble upon it or figure out how it works. There are definitely flops like Alley breeding using an item that is never hinted at while doing something else very obscure. But sometimes it’s this perfect gem of a moment like seeing a zombie piglin use a fungus on a stick on a strider and then doing the same and completely revolutionizing nether lava travel.
Instead of a 20% chance all across the board, I'd suggest a linear instead of an exponential system mojang has right now. Like, 26, 23, 20, 17, 14 for example. That way, stronger llamas won't be rarer than god damn emeralds (idk if they are) but would still be harder to find than weaker llamas
Piercing Crossbows firing Harming II arrows are terrifying in any context. PvP? Shields don't protect you. PvE? You can reuse the arrows. That's like, infinite potions with a throwing range on crack.
@@BLET_55artem55 poison and regen does not do anything to undead, they just don't get the effect. They don't take damage and don't get health by both. Only healing and Harming are reversed. So poison arrows don't have a downside.
The only thing I’d add about mob heads: there should be a way to obtain the Steve head in survival, also they should have it so the Steve head placed on a note block makes the original “ooh” damage sound the player would make when they take damage.
Maybe you'd "cure" a Zombie head similarly to how you'd cure a Zombie Villager. That might be a bit too dark, though. It's basically implying you decapitated a (zombified) person and have their head to put on a mantle.
Piercing does work, mobs tend to spawn in groups and are veery very easy to kite in a way that will get mulitiple piercing hits. When an arrow penetrates a mob you're also able to pick up the arrow allowing for reusable arrows without having to sacrifice mending!!(plus it works for all arrow types) Also the combat snapshots include shotgun functionality for multishot so fingers crossed that gets implemented someday.
Honestly when getting footage for this video, piercing and multishot were not as bad as I remembered, but they are still much worse than a bow in my opinion. Still a cool weapon though, they're fun to use.
@@islothsin bedrock before the buff of protection enchantment to magic damage, multishot crossbow with instant damage 2 arrows was the most letal weapon in the game (thanks that armor doesnt block magic damage and in bedrock, mobs and players doesnt have i frames for proyectals) so literally a crossbow oneshot trough full netherite full enchanted armor
I found they especially work during raids and trial chambers where mobs will spawn from a single location and will try to go to a specific new location
Especially when those are tipped arrows! Those are hard to get if end-rushing isn't your playstyle cuz that's the final offer of the fletcher villagers and it's not a guarantee to get the good ones like harming, healing, and poison.
A niche I like using the crossbow for is as a discount infinity bow. If you get any level of piercing on it the arrow will travel through mobs and then you can just pick up the arrow again after. So when I'm in the mid game I prefer to use a piercing crossbow when I don't have too many arrows yet.
@@turtleburger200 They use to have a propose! I thought they we're just there to look cute. I still like looking at them though, cute little sea creatures
I forgot ocelots, goats, llamas, frogs, and camels exist. The only things that ever interested me enough to remember were Axolotls, dogs, and cats (cause cats spawn often enough to annoy me when I get my villager megaplex built)
Bats, they've been in the game almost since its beginning yet the only use they have is decoy for Warden and Sculk Sensors, and not even as good as just taking projectiles with you
One thing people forget with crossbows is that they're the only long-range weapon in the game that can be fired immediately after being switched to (well... aside from snow balls technically but you can probably see the downside there). You can charge them and leave them charged in your inventory to switch to mid fight for instant long-range damage. it's a niche but it's a niche only they fill. And I mostly agree with llamas but I actually like that you can't control them with a saddle, since it feels unique and ties into their real world historic use more which i just think is cool. I'd rather see mojang fix leads over letting you ride them.
I think piecing is cool for 2 reasons, 1. They can go through shields which is good for long range pvp, and 2. That the arrows go through mobs and not into them so that you can pick the arrows up again and since there’s no infinity it helps if you don’t have too many arrows.
Fun fact. The reason why striders drop string is because people ask how piglins can make crossbows without string. And the string comes from the sides on the strider. Also, where do piglins get the iron for their crossbow?
Yeah, I hate it when people complain about "useless" things (and I'm even guilty of doing that in the past). Like, just because it doesn't have a ton of practical uses doesn't mean its pointless... It adds flavor to the game. Its like how food doesn't _need_ to be salted to provide sustenance, but it tastes better with it.
It would add more flavor to the game if it had a function, even if it is niche. Or just something that makes it stand out. Features like the Cherry Grove are boring because they have nothing to make them stand out except for weird pedals and pink leaves. Seeing one looks tacky and completely breaks the immersion of the game.
The problem is when they market these features as the major headliners. You’ll never see a restaurant whose claim to fame is that they salt their food, because it would be dumb to brag about something that everyone expects as a prerequisite. There’s nothing inherently wrong with archaeology being added to Minecraft as another thing you can optionally do, but it simply cannot hold its own as *the* headlining feature of the update.
@@HungryWarden That's a very personal take though. Lots of people love the heck out of the cherry groves. Mojang can't please everyone with every feature so you just have to accept that some additions won't be for you.
They could add actually useful things though. If it takes Mojang an entire year to make a single update then of course people are going to be very disappointed when basically only 0.01% of people are even going to bother using the feature. Noone bothers with stuff like frogs.
@@nisseheim4996 what if they increased the spawn rate of pink sheep in the Cherry Grove, or added cherries, or just added something to distinguish it from other biomes besides petals which are just Sea Pickles that don’t have collision or light? It’s boring because there’s no reason to go there, no cool or unique stuff to get there. Even the design of the trees is uninspired, most of them look like heavily altered Savanna trees.
I also find it satisfying to find niche uses for "useless" features. For example, mob heads have a unique hitbox that can occasionally be useful for aligning entities.
wish crossbows could have both multishot and piercing, they were definitely designed for crowd controlling and having both enchants would make them really good
I love sea lanterns so much I spent a ludicrous amount of time converting an ocean monument into a sea lantern factory. It's worth it for the cruelty factor: I used a lot of glass and it's designed in a way that the guardians spawn, get pushed into a kill tube, and sucked down to burn slowly on magma blocks. Magma blocks might be a slow burn, but it's worth it to watch those ornery things suffer lol
this video was a genuinely great case for why not everything added has to be significantly useful. you're right, if every feature was part of progression the game they would feel more like chores. its nice to turn ur brain off and enjoy the vibes sometimes
I wish people would just chill out and have some fun with minecraft, because the community just isnt the same edit: 100 likes thx i agree with all of these replies
The community is not the only problem, Microsoft is also a factor why Minecraft doesnt feel that comfortable, especially in multiplayer. Realm is the most highlighted. Kids may see this as a useless feature, but for teenagers and adults, this is extremely important. People become busier and busier over time and their friends never have the time to play with them due to free time difference. Now if I want to have a world that my friends can join in and contribute to it anytime, even when I'm working, I have to pay like 5$ or smth, which is expensive as heck if ur an Asian. Spend a ton ass of money only for you to have a bit of fun with your friend is just bitter.
@@matteorossi8240 Me too. I'm in the Nether, but I haven't found a Nether Fortress. I'm remodeling a cave to be my second base. I have my main base in a mountain. My second base is under ground. My third base is in a desert, on top of a small hill.
people: got to have shulker boxes because inventory is tiny for me me: I got llamas for land and ten boats with chest for sea, time to eat cake and watch my turtle grow when I try to breed perfect llamas yes, sadly there seems to be many people who just rush to "end" of game and complain it is easy and boring, I havent got to End even yet, I want to build my base first, but to it I need froglight, I like to explore, getting pot sherds, ride my mule.. yes I want elytra and shulker boxes and whatever, but why rush really, I want to make village that appears to work as village, not slaver cages people call "trading halls", and it takes time, and when I get bored, I go to do other things for while and return back, my world waits for me as I leave it
The main solution to solve this dilemma; peaceful mode (hear me out) I'm a certified wuss and so I rarely even go on easy mode unless if I'm playing with others. Peaceful mode mostly gets rid of some things (ie an ethical way of getting ender pearls, no trident, etc) but I tend to have fun just exploring the world, maybe setting up base, just turn off my brain and build something. This is just a me thing tho, some people may not be into this sort of play style and I understand that, but for those who don't wanna rush stuff, this is probably one of the better options.
This is exactly what I do. I find a cool seed, load in, and just build. When I get tired of building one area, I can roam around and find something else to do. It's great for trying out different building styles in peace outside of just playing creative.
As someone who uses crossbows pretty frequently in Minecraft, even in modded worlds where archery mods still focus primarily on bows for some reason, I'll just say it: Power should be allowed on crossbows as well. It doesn't make sense that a crossbow could fire stronger arrows since it has a fixed draw? Multishot exists as a crossbow exclusive enchantment and multi-form techniques your arrows, don't get me started on "realism." For being a bow, but made out of more expensive parts, it seems more like an alternative only if you absolutely min-max it (needing a ton of gunpowder, Flame Charges if you want maximum AoE, and paper to make the proper fireworks - and you need to bring a lot of fireworks every time to keep up its advantages) while for bows it's just... slap on Power V and Infinite and you're done. If crossbows did at least comparable damage, then they'd be something. Plus Pillagers and Piglins would be potentially stronger based on enchantment rolls, so there's that.
i already liked foxes, but with this new info i love them even more thanks for being a youtuber that enjoys things rather than not complaining about them
Emperorpenguin1217, jetstarfish, and sipover really fit this. well ig emp is 16 but still 16 year olds like to thing they are wise and elderly, just like people my age
I think what a lot of people don’t understand about armor trim duplication is that it probably isn’t meant to be the main way you get trims. Exploring and finding trims is most likely the main way your meant to get multiple of a trim, the duplication thing is just there just in case you literally can’t find any more or that trim type anywhere and it serves as a backup. It’s expensive because it’s supposed to encourage you to get it the proper way, and only duplicate it when you absolutely have to
Still shouldn't be make so ridiculously expensive... not to mention if we look at the designs it's clear than the opposite proportion of the ingredients (exluding the trim itself) would make MUCH MORE sense.
@@Lyokoheros-KLPXTV they should be even more expensive. Player is supposed to spend a lot of time to find trims, specifically Silence. And if player found one trim, 28 diamonds and full set it is, and one backup copy as well. And 28 diamonds is like 15 minutes of strip mining with fortune III pick
foxes prioritizing food is absolutely necessary for the mechanic to work. It's the way you get a fox to drop an item it's picked up, without it the fox would only be able to ever hold one item in its lifetime
One thing I've always wanted to see is a player leading a caravan of Llamas with another player riding the last Llama with their own caravan (repeating for every player on the team). You could create an absolute insane chain like that. Combined with Shulkers and Ender Chests, you could move an entire multi-year base in one go.
What I think most of these features lack, and the real gripe most people have with them, is that most of these features aren't intuitive (Frog mechanics), or feel like they should serve a purpose that they simply don't (Crossbows). Mojang's real problem is just that things tend to get added, and rarely changed for years afterwards. So nowadays, Minecraft has a lot of systems, mobs, and other things that, while cool and novel, just leave players confused on why they were added, or why they were added in the state they were added in. Most players who don't want to look up guides will probably never once use a Froglight in their lives. Crossbows feel like they're supposed to be a more powerful and preparable alternative to the Bow, but in practice they just aren't worth the hassle when a Power V bow does everything you want it to. Armor Trims I'll never understand the gripe with. Foxes I think are so close to the depth people want, but are just convoluted and don't make a lot of sense. Then in the realm of other mobs like the Llama, they feel like ambiance for the sake of ambiance, when they could have at least a little bit more to them. Would it really break the gameplay loop to let you sheer Llamas for wool? I think Llamas are so close to being good, but the issues in the video and the fact they can't do things Llamas are known for in the real world is where a lot of frustration comes in, and I think that goes for a lot of these kind of features. Players, not usually unreasonably, expect more depth or function to things like new mobs and items, even if it's niche. It's not really unrealistic to expect a Crossbow to be designed to have a real purpose, or Llamas to be able to produce wool, or for another example that seems to be in the previous video, the Sniffer should be able to at least dig up a unique food item or two. Every ounce of depth to most of these mechanics is Flavorful at best, or downright frustrating at worst, as even reasonable expectations are met with convoluted processes, weird spawn rates, or a slew of niche and mediocre cosmetic items that the average player isn't going to know what to do with.
Even though this is even more useless, I would’ve loved frigs eating goats to end up being an actual feature. It would show that Minecraft is a game, and it diesn’t have to be realistic to real life for it to be good.
Now that is the kind of creativity that Minecraft used to have. It feels like something that would’ve been added back before Microsoft bought Mojang. It would make the Frog feel less of a bland uninspired feature like most modern Minecraft features.
Honestly, piercing 1 is much more usefull than it seems because you can actually pick up your arrows, which are kind of really annoying to get without a skeleton farm
The Piercing Enchantment for the crossbow is particularly useful for preserving arrows, since you can't get infinity on it. This also works for tipped and spectral arrows since the shot arrow won't vanish, if you don't max out the number of mobs pierced. Additionally Piercing grants you the ability to bypass shields, which actually makes it more viable than the bow in these instances.
Yeah! I don't know why people barely mention that it can go through shields. Whenever I run into a group of pillagers, one of them having piercing makes them a bit more of a threat in certain situations. It's a good ranged counter to shields if you don't want to get up close to a player to use your axe, which will still leave you vulnerable to a melee attack as well
the crossbow actually has a niche super useful use. with piercring, you can shoot a mob with a potion tipped arrow and keep the arrow. which usually cant be done because tipped arrows dont work with infinity. this basically allows for infinite potions of any kind as long as you hit less than 5 mobs. i use it sometimes in villager conversion and with harming arrows
Technically llama’s should not be ridden in real life They were added right around the time mojang started wanting to be more conscious of how their game might lead fans to treat animals in real life and they didn’t want people thinking llamas were rideable irl.
I made a pretty weird door design with a fox first it incorporated you stepping over a tripwire hook which then lead to a piston which observe it was facing another observer which would spawn a checking and then the chicken would step on a pressure plate and then kill the chicken shut the door and the chicken meat itself would be eaten by the fox
Make this as a series of "Useless" features in the game, since there are a lot of them that most of the community consider it to be useless/niche. Also Combat Test Snapshots (CTS) did a change with the Multishot to be functionally be a "Shotgun" as all 3 arrows can damage a single target at point blank.
I'll consider continuing this series if people keep enjoying them. I can always squeeze out a few more things to talk about lol. Next vid is gonna be terraria though.
Tbh piercing is actually pretty good since it allows you to retrieve your bolts after you hit an enemy, so not only do your arrows last longer, but you also get to spend less time making more.
ah but you see, even if you can use shulker box instead of lama, you can always put a lot of shulker boxes in the lama for huge terraforming projects instead of relying on an end chest
5:35 I'm pretty sure that if you put Quick Charge 3 on a crossbow you can actually charge it faster than you can fully pull back a bow, therefore making your statement at least partially false, though in many scenarios the higher rate of fire is still outweighed by the fact that many bow enchants can't be applied to a crossbow for some stupid reason
I believe the real reason you can’t saddle a llama is so they don’t completely replace mules and donkeys. If you could saddle a llama and give it a chest it would effectively just be a better mule/donkey. By not allowing you to saddle a llama it gives you a choice, so I want more inventory slots with a caravan or do I want more control with a mule/donkey. This also allows you to combine both together for the best of both worlds
Yeah I agree I think that's why they don't allow saddles, but I think they should judt have less mobility when being ridden. Like no jump and just regular sprint speed, but would allow caravans to follow. That would be sick in my opinion.
Imo a feature in Minecraft being “useful” doesnt mean just improving the progression. I dont need any more items that are an armor tier better than diamond, or a new way to cut 5 minutes off the speed run record, but a new feature branching out that progression in unique ways or tools that fulfill a task in a maybe inefficient way but a fun way? That’s what a good addition is to the game. Like grappling hooks, which yeah will be a good exploration mechanic but will always be outclassed by an elytra. But boy would it be fun.
I actually just recently been playing around with llamas I found it very funny to move around with like 20 caravans lol😂 Even tho it would like broke the lead almost immediately, it still funny to bring a whole army of llama to my friend😂
A couple friends and I used to play our survival servers sorta like medieval civilizations. All of our homes would be pretty far apart in different biomes, and we would supply each other with different foods and building blocks unique to our biome. We would either use chest minecarts in long trains or llamas. Those were the good old days before elytras were the only “valid” form of transportation.
@@isloths It's sad to me that they are so outclassed by everything else. If rails were cheaper and minecarts could go faster then they would still be relevant to more players.
i’ve seen people use foxes for farming before, like using them in automatic chicken farms, and some sort of “fox grinder” that lets them drop whatever’s in their mouth for an idle emerald farm.
Multishot with fireworks is not a combat option. It is a fun option, yes, but for combat you want piercing, which allows your fireworks to explode twice.
itd be cool if we had modern minecraft but everyone played like how it was pre 2012. no super automation farms, the game flows, everyone is happy. thats how i still play the game and also cuz im not good with making automated farms
7:27 There is one interesting thing about the Piercing enchantment. It can go through shields. So if you are fighting against a player, and if you have harming arrows for extra dmg, you can deal a bit of dmg to them before they realize shields are useless in the fight
-Both diamonds and copper should be used in more recipes and to craft/repair future items. It's a shame that you dont get happy finding diamonds when you are with a good gear because you already have all the diamonds you'll need for your whole playthrough, something that doesnt happen if you hate automatic farms like me and enjoy finding iron every single time due to how useful it still is, even if you are already maxxed out -crossbows should be able to use impact enchantment just like bows, and be able to use "power" up to LVL 3 too (make lvl 4 and 5 exclusive to bows), so people who prefers crossbows are not in completely disavantsge. If you think crossbows would get too op, make power incompatible with another enchantment like piercing
piercing on a crossbow essentially gives you infinity with tipped arrows, something not normally possible unless they fixed that during my 4 months away from reality which is possible
I will say that what some people don't realize, that mojang has to think about more than just features that give the player a way of progression, as the average player literally doesn't even enter the end let alone the nether, and such only catering to those who grind and farm, etc, will isolate those casual players. Also, a lot of people like to do more than just beat the game as quick as possible or farm, I for one like to go on random adventures to optain comically rare items, mobs, entities, etc. Or even get an achievement that hilariously hard to get, or just chill and have fun, create something that I'd not only have fun building but also have fun living in it. Survival has always been a classic retreat for me, when I get creative burnout, or just feel like building something, survival gives an interesting way of doing it, you actually have to work to get where you want and what you want, so you can make what your goal initially was, rather than a one and done moment, the process of getting from point a to b is honestly an experience, even with the useless features, it at least gives us something so we're not bored, basically having side quests that aren't required to progress, but its just something you can do if you choose to.
@@isloths could you explain a bit better why you think guaranteed head drops wouldn't fit in minecraft, I would just think it'd be a nice surprise and some could use it like a counter for mini-games.
The crossbow have a secret trick When you shoot a weakness arrow with piercing on a zombievillager(or any other mob), you can pick up the arrow and used again
At the trim part, I think a durability/ repair feature would benefit way more, let’s say you use it, it breaks into shards and with adding 4 diamonds and clay, you can make a crafted plate, and cook it in the furnace or something and you keep your part
i think needing 7 diamonds to replicate an armor trim is a really good idea- it still makes diamonds feel akin to the "end goal" in minecraft like they were before netherite. to me theres something so special about mining in a world and finding those first few diamonds- i know its a similar feeling to netherite but to me diamonds still represent the pinnacle of what minecraft is because while its a simplier item to get compared to netherite and other things (elytra, totems, etc) its still one of the first things you think of when you hear "minecraft". i think also adding the upgrade templete to netherite was a great move- before getting netherite seemed to grindy but now you have to actually put more effort in exploring and working for it rather than blowing up everything with tnt. as a casual player it makes me happy that some grindy people get to actually step back and enjoy the game vs speedrunning the dragon and farms.
Great video! It made me reconsider how I play Minecraft. I also want to know which shader you are using because it reminds me of Minecraft Story Mode and brings back so much nostalgia😅
They should just reduce how many diamonds is needed for the duplication from 7 to only 3 or 4. That way it still gives diamonds value, while being accessible for more casual players. Its a win-win situation.
Crossbow defender here. Piercing is nice for when you want to use tipped arrows. Piercing arrows go through the target, apply the effect and can then be picked up again. Given how hard it is to get by tipped arrows, its really nice for early/midgame when you still havent fully enchanted a bow yet or have no easy way to replenish your tipped arrow supply.
To add on the crossbow love: tipped arrows also work really well with it (I know another mechanic rarely used). A multi shot crossbow with harming arrows for example can one shot iron golems if all three connect. It also kills players since harming doesn’t care about your armor.
FOXES CAN USE MACES??? That might be the most hilarious thing I've seen in Minecraft ever 😭

@@sambrown6426maybe make the fireflies dependent on a block instead? And then you could decorate places with fireflies!

Buckets used to be consumed
WHAT? I thought armor trims made the armor stronger. Have i been wasting resources this whole time?

I think the duplication recipe for trims should be 1 trim, 1 diamond, and 7 corresponding blocks
cause when you look at trims, it’s stone etched with diamonds, not diamonds etched with stone
But diamonds are small so it’s like you’re etching each diamond into the stone if u think about it
I like the current recipe for Armor Trims, it somehow ups the value of Diamonds close to the earlier days of Minecraft.
The damage of the fireworks is based on the explosion of the fireworks
The game with get even more grindy if you had to find these features. these features are optional for a reason.

This is just a me thing tho, some people may not be into this sort of play style and I understand that, but for those who don't wanna rush stuff, this is probably one of the better options.
Too bad it doesn’t reset the Phantom spawn conditions, then I would use it a lot more.
Multishot exists as a crossbow exclusive enchantment and multi-form techniques your arrows, don't get me started on "realism."
For being a bow, but made out of more expensive parts, it seems more like an alternative only if you absolutely min-max it (needing a ton of gunpowder, Flame Charges if you want maximum AoE, and paper to make the proper fireworks - and you need to bring a lot of fireworks every time to keep up its advantages) while for bows it's just... slap on Power V and Infinite and you're done. If crossbows did at least comparable damage, then they'd be something. Plus Pillagers and Piglins would be potentially stronger based on enchantment rolls, so there's that.
I find it funny that mojang worries too much about balance when they happen to add a new weapon when swords and bows are op af

It’s expensive because it’s supposed to encourage you to get it the proper way, and only duplicate it when you absolutely have to
Good point
Still shouldn't be make so ridiculously expensive... not to mention if we look at the designs it's clear than the opposite proportion of the ingredients (exluding the trim itself) would make MUCH MORE sense.
@@Lyokoheros-KLPXTVReread the comment and i think you'll understand why it makes sense for the trims to be so expensive
@@Willified I read and no, it still doesn't.
I don’t see why they didn’t make it so llamas would follow camels too, that way you could ride a camel and still have a caravan
Every ounce of depth to most of these mechanics is Flavorful at best, or downright frustrating at worst, as even reasonable expectations are met with convoluted processes, weird spawn rates, or a slew of niche and mediocre cosmetic items that the average player isn't going to know what to do with.
they've been working on this more recently tbh

It's a good ranged counter to shields if you don't want to get up close to a player to use your axe, which will still leave you vulnerable to a melee attack as well
For the crossbow id like to add that piercing can be RLY good in pvp since it ignores shields. Rly useful at times
the crossbow actually has a niche super useful use. with piercring, you can shoot a mob with a potion tipped arrow and keep the arrow. which usually cant be done because tipped arrows dont work with infinity. this basically allows for infinite potions of any kind as long as you hit less than 5 mobs. i use it sometimes in villager conversion and with harming arrows
I never knew foxes attack mobs and players for you that’s so cool!!
The game has so much wonder in it still. I laughed out loud with that fox mace clip.
Lol yeah, when I was making this vid I was thinking there was no way that'd actually work lol. Then it did.
Technically llama’s should not be ridden in real life
They were added right around the time mojang started wanting to be more conscious of how their game might lead fans to treat animals in real life and they didn’t want people thinking llamas were rideable irl.
I find it funny that once in a blue moon that mojang adds a new weapon, they worry too much about balance when sharpness and power V are op af
Tbh piercing is actually pretty good since it allows you to retrieve your bolts after you hit an enemy, so not only do your arrows last longer, but you also get to spend less time making more.
Llamas should be ridable with carpets, since saddles are for horses and such. But maybe a stronger (not breaking) leash could also fix the issue
ah but you see, even if you can use shulker box instead of lama, you can always put a lot of shulker boxes in the lama for huge terraforming projects instead of relying on an end chest
That's true but who needs that many skulker boxes lol. I guess some crazy players who only wanna make 1 trip or something lol
@@islothsthose mfs would still cry about how "the inventory is too tiny" and how they can't ever get enough space for all their stuff
Yeah, bundles to ender chests to Shulker Boxes are great form of progression. And none outclass each other. You can use all three together.
That fox using the mace was so funny
They could also just make it move at the Llama’s walking speed which would be very funny.
I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it, but the piercing enchant on the crossbow can go through shields. You learn that out the hard way.
As long as it isn’t inefficient to the point of tedium, I’m on board.
Exactky, that's why they changed the bundle recipe.
I like crossbows cause I use them like a flintlock revolver, a secondary weapon to do a bit of damage before engaging in melee weapon
Yeah they are fun for that.

All of our homes would be pretty far apart in different biomes, and we would supply each other with different foods and building blocks unique to our biome. We would either use chest minecarts in long trains or llamas. Those were the good old days before elytras were the only “valid” form of transportation.
Yeah I always loved having seperate bases like that too. And the chest minecsrt railways are something I remember doing as a kid.

Piercing + weakness arrows on villagers makes curing really easy, no need to make more weakness potions
I've heard that crossbows are quite useful in the more close-quarters environment of Trial Chambers, which is neat

-Both diamonds and copper should be used in more recipes and to craft/repair future items. It's a shame that you dont get happy finding diamonds when you are with a good gear because you already have all the diamonds you'll need for your whole playthrough, something that doesnt happen if you hate automatic farms like me and enjoy finding iron every single time due to how useful it still is, even if you are already maxxed out
-crossbows should be able to use impact enchantment just like bows, and be able to use "power" up to LVL 3 too (make lvl 4 and 5 exclusive to bows), so people who prefers crossbows are not in completely disavantsge. If you think crossbows would get too op, make power incompatible with another enchantment like piercing

The crossbow have a secret trick
When you shoot a weakness arrow with piercing on a zombievillager(or any other mob), you can pick up the arrow and used again

The fox's with netherite swords mobing that guy, brutally hilarious 🤣 that AAAAAHHHHH!! WTFFFF!!!
To add on the crossbow love: tipped arrows also work really well with it (I know another mechanic rarely used). A multi shot crossbow with harming arrows for example can one shot iron golems if all three connect. It also kills players since harming doesn’t care about your armor.
