If you consider the biology of troglobites (cave-dwelling animals), the vesps would die within a few hours of being exposed to sunlight. Many cave-dwelling animals lack pigmentaion on their skin because protection from the sun is pretty much useless if you spend your entire life living in a cave. And I'm pretty sure that a lack of pigmentation on your skin means you're more sensitive to sunlight. Also, at least from what I heard, in the original novel this movie was based on, the reason why the religious fanatics wanted Ally wasn't because she was "fertile", it was because they wanted to know how to use sign language so that they dont have to keep writing down stuff on paper.
@@corberus3119 well a deaf person would logically make more sense as they would generally be more use to sign language as well as being less likely to make a noise in the process

What the hell is it with those "instant armageddon" movies, a new create shows up, BAM, mankind on the verge of extinction, "all weapons/military are useless".
It's because these movies happen in a vacuum, where there's no world outside the places the movie takes place in. The writers are not smart enough to come up with logical ideas to progress the plot, so they just follow the easiest option. In the past they knew how to create situations that made sense, like in Aliens: a small group of marines, with limited ammo, unable to use their heavier guns and a whole bunch of monsters after them. Bam! Instant suspense that makes sense. But today it's easier to pretend things like the police and the military don't exist or that many Americans have literally a whole arsenal in their homes and could just fortify themselves inside and play "shoot the bespin" games.
@@saurabhraj2027 what do you mean by that? It aged well 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️ the movies still suck and there's no instant apocalypse, and the idea that military wouldn't take away little creatures that are attracted only to noise is ridiculous!! With a shitty strategy and good arsenal you could blow them away!!!
01:46 Remember that she wasn't born deaf in this movie - she lost her hearing 3 years ago. That would explain that she sounds "regular" when she talks.
I can't speak about *how* she talks but, as a life long half deaf person I have a hard time moderating the level of my voice sometimes. Even within the same sentence I can get louder and my mom has to remind me to lower my voice. I find it really hard to believe that someone who is completely deaf wouldn't have the same issue and could potentially cause issues with this problem and it would be a legitimate way to cause tension in the movie.
Yeah, I’m a person with goals to teach ASL and stuff so I work with Deaf people a lot. While she might be able to talk ‘regularly’, there’s also an entirely different glaring issue. Deaf people can often make a lot of unintentional sounds because they simply don’t realize they’re making them. Throat vibrations can be rather subtle sometimes and in a situation where there’s a lot of horrifying things happening, I struggle to believe she’d be this good at keeping quiet. It’s a similar problem I had with A Quiet Place. At the very least, her losing her hearing at that point could explain why her and her family’s signing tends to be very grammatically incorrect. I’m in my third year of learning the language and my teachers are pretty on my ass about making sure we’re grammatically correct, but after competition it became pretty clear some other teachers aren’t the same way.
Bullshit!! Because she just lost her hearing only 3 years ago it's the main reason why she would probably be the main source of noise in her family! You just can't go happily from hearing yourself normally to not hearing anything at all and don't raise your volume sometimes
I was born with only one functional ear. After 22 yrs, I still can't completely control my volume of voice. What sounds normal to me isn't the same to others. So I generally speak less to avoid embarrassment. Sounding normal in just 3 yrs...yeah sounds kinda fake when she can't even hear herself.
As a HOH person myself the little comment about lip reading made me chuckle. People who barely move their mouth are definitely a struggle! My husband actually had to work pretty hard to enunciate better so I could understand him (chronic mumbler)
A quiet place has nearly indestructible, smart monsters , These vesps are really dumb and the military could have easily figured out a weakness and exterminated them
Yep, but truth be told the quiet place monsters could be easily wiped out by the military as well. But despite that A quiet place was a good movie, unlike this pile of garbage.

That would actually make for a fun little short movie. @@edmontonboy99 and this movie only exists to piggyback off of that movie's gimmick. Just because a book came first does not make a movie less of a ripoff if it was released with a suspiciously similar idea to a previous movie.
Deaf people can speak normally sometimes. Even congenital deaf people. To the point you'd never know. She also went deaf 3 years ago, so can speak already.
It is Haas nothing to do with talent. If you have some degree of hearing (i.e. legally deaf, not total deafness) or achieve full deafness later in life, you will be able to speak "perfectly". It is why many deaf people get discriminated against for not being deaf. I get it all the time, because my deafness is subjective to the noise around me. Concerts, next to a highway, parties.. deaf AF, but in a library that same hearing issue will let me hear you silently pass gas from the other side of the building.
6:52 That was what confused me. They literally just learned of Ally's existence. Unless Ally was both naked here and having her Period then there was no way for them to know that she was fertile.
it literally said in the description on netflix "they run into a mysterious cult" they literally run into the cult in the last 20 minutes of the movie which literally made the entire movie pointless
You know, the biggest problem I always had with "A Quiet Place" (and really every other horror movie that tries to use that "monster can only hunt by one physical sense" trope) is that whoever wrote the script should have done more research into how blind predators hunt. Most "blind" predators don't just hunt by sound they use all their other senses including touch, smell, AND hearing. They also should have done more research into how Echolocation works, because if you're going to tell me that the creatures in this movie and "A Quiet Place", were using Echolocation then I'm going to have to call bullshit, because that's NOT how Echolocation works! -___-
Indeed. Most blind animals have a great sense of smell too. Plus, bats have echolocation, so they would know where you are even if you are being quiet.
I remember watching this on a flight. It was my first exposure to "bad movies" (I don't watch a lot of movies) and I very clearly remember just how confused I was how a professional production could make so little sense and have so many loose ends I also specifically remember how the synopsis of the movie described the cult as the main threat of the movie, despite them only showing up near the end

Looks so bad.
Yeah that made me go back a re-read that, the cgi Jeeps' role was to roll down the hill, I guess it was a close call on the budget to spend the compute and labor vs just trashing a jeep and then recover it and clean up after .... but not by much it looks like (i.e. bad car and bad cgi :D) #noalljeepsjustmostofthem.
Yeah and unless we can say exactly what year The Quiet Place was written it could’ve very much so been stolen from the book. But the movie was probably Netflix’s idea after The Quiet Place came out.
FizzyElf Well the script was already written before A Quiet Place so Netflix was already going to make the movie before AQP but they just happened to beat them to the punch
A quiet place doesn't make any sense. When they find out all you have to do is make tons of noise and it stuns them it's so stupid. How am I expected to believe that the sounds of guns firing wouldn't instantly deafen those things when they can deafen people? The sound of something like a 120mm smooth bore cannon firing would probably make your eardrums bleed if you weren't wearing ear protection, and they somehow weren't affected by this while they were destroying the world? Bullshit.
miera1029 does it really matter? The whole worlds ending and not once anywhere that sound wave played? I didn't even bother to bring up how preposterous it is that these creatures were able to withstand cannon fire from tanks that fire depleted uranium ammunition that can penetrate something like 500mms of homogenous steel plate.
@@franklind.roosevelt7416 the creatures from a quiet place travelled openly on an asteroid at around 12% the speed of light, with some quick calculations we can see that a single grain of dust they bumped into would have generated 1.5 x 10^13 j of energy. For comparison that's like the energy that a nuclear explosion generates. (10^12 kalories) so trust me, it's not hard to believe that their shell resist heavy artillery or even bombs. Plus the director specified that only a specific sum of different wavelenghts and frequencies could have managed to open their shells exposing the insides, it has nothing to do with how loud the sound is. It's simply an ubsurdly casual and rare pitch. So, essentially, the film is not bs whilen on the other hand your trust in firearms and lack of foundation behind the argument is.
When the cult leader showed he had no tongue, because the cgi was so bad I honestly thought he was showing that he had one of the creatures inside him and that he was one. I was SO confused.

Which is stupid since the whole family knows asl

Shack'en Bake Apocalypse!
Like the walking dead how there's no military
This didn't age well
@@saurabhraj2027 what do you mean by that?
She would have a deaf accent. Over time the clarity becomes more garbled since she can't hear herself talk.

A Quiet Place was actually pretty genius and I’ve never had so much anxiety while seeing a film. This movie is dumb af
Bullshit.
@@franklind.roosevelt7416 I'm don't have much knowledge of these things.. But wasn't the solution a specific sound wave?
miera1029 does it really matter? The whole worlds ending and not once anywhere that sound wave played? I didn't even bother to bring up how preposterous it is that these creatures were able to withstand cannon fire from tanks that fire depleted uranium ammunition that can penetrate something like 500mms of homogenous steel plate.
The inconsistency ruined it for me
@@franklind.roosevelt7416 the creatures from a quiet place travelled openly on an asteroid at around 12% the speed of light, with some quick calculations we can see that a single grain of dust they bumped into would have generated 1.5 x 10^13 j of energy.
