"A lot of you think that if you do just one more thing, you'll finally find the thing that ends all your problems. But I think that most of your problems will be fixed when you focus on minimizing and subtracting from your life, keeping it as simple as possible." Such great advice, Cole! ❤
Nah, you will never solve most of your problems. By the time you make a video about a silver bullet you found, you will realize that your silver bullet isn't that after all.
This is one of the most realest videos I have seen. I grew up poor, I hated that people looked down on my family. I started a business, made a success of it (at high school). Still not happy. Maybe I worked too hard? I took 18 months out to travel the world. Amazing... but got home feel into serious depression. Maybe I need a degree? I got accepted to do my MBA without an undergrad (on entrepreneurial merit). Felt great, but I felt unhappy after it was over. Maybe a big house, a Jaguar E-type, etc etc... Now, I bought a 2 bed apartment, I have a corporate job, a daily routine - my life is boring as hell. And I have never been happier. I go gym each day at lunch (a short walk), I see friends every weekend, and live super simple. I eat healthy, no parties. People laugh how I went from wanting 'it all' to the way I live now... I would say, try a simple life.
Life WAS simple. It no longer is. While old people advise still has a kernel of truth to it, our world now is much more different than what it was fifty, or heck, even ten years ago.

Cole I just have to say this video really really resonated with me. I've been having the same problem about overcommitting to a bunch of stuff at the beginning of the year, thinking it will make me happier and more fulfilled if I only keep on grinding and grinding. My schedule was overfilled with activity, I had no room to breathe, to just think or be, nevertheless commit to just improving one facet of my life and getting fulfillment out of it. Then the constant comparing on social media made me think I'm really missing out all the time if I don't have all these things that people show on Instagram and all that stuff. Needless to say, it took me months to realize this isn't going to lead nowhere and thus I slowly began to let go of all these dumb commitments, hobbies, activities that I was involved in, decluttering my life of all this nonsense that I foresaw will do absolutely nothing for me in the long run. Now I'm actually feeling much more relaxed and at peace, while still working on some things that I wish to be working on, with even greater focus, and with newfound understanding that you have to develop things one by one, slowly, consistently, and with the insight that valuable things take a long time to develop. And then you release this video: it's like the universe pushed it right into my feed! I don't really watch all these countless self-help videos anymore as I am more focused on actually practicing what I have learned from them, but yours always have a unique quirk to them that make me resonate with your message and your content each and every single time. I appreciate your hard work.
You can't tell a 15-year-old kid to 'smell the plants' and expect that to make him happy because they are at different times of their lives and thus value different things. Old people value simplicity because of the limitations of their bodies, the time they have left, the lessons they have learned, or all three combined. Wisdom cannot be taught; it has to be earned. The old and wise obtained their wisdom by being young and foolish. Therefore, I'd never take advice from an 80-year-old because I'm precisely not an 80-year-old, and I still have my lessons to learn and battles to fight. Perhaps smelling flowers becomes the most important thing to me when I'm older, but right now, as a 40-year-old, I still have other things I need to do. That said, I'm sure I'll start sounding like an 80-year-old if I was diagnosed with terminal cancer tomorrow. Life is NOT simple at all ages, even though it tends towards simplicity as we age. Young people are insecure and uncertain of themselves, which is entirely normal. Older people are secure and have seen and done it all. It's just time. Just keep taking your next breath and walking your next step. With any luck, the flowers in your garden suddenly feel profound and meaningful.
Over watching your videos, I have realized that you have been keep going back and forth in a spectrum which has the 2 opposite ends. In one end of this spectrum lies living life with reason, and in the other end lies living life with emotions. Basicly, what I am trying to tell is that you are in a constant gravity field of attraction from trusting your gut or trusting your mind. This battle of these two main sides which you have been documenting creates a fundamental question to life: How to manage the reason and the emotion to have a satisfactory life? I believe Marcus Aurelius's had a great answer to this. His answer was about creating a perfectly balanced middle in the spectrum that i was mentioning where you can draw the most benefit from.
I honestly never thought about this. I know that may seem stupid but I truthfully wake up on a day basis and thank God that I woke up and then just not enjoy it. I am always thinking about what I need to do or the future and it makes me think about why I always talk so fast and never make eye contact because I dont enjoy the little moments... I overthink so much and it is really hard not to ,but this video makes me think that I am only this age for a moment and going slow in life is going fast... thank you !
It makes sense, Cole .. its just the bombardment of content we r feed nowadays whats making us anxious and depressed. You can't have it nor be it all .. lessen and focus .. live free !

Trying to categorize boomers like this seems wrong... There are some very wise ones out there who will give this advice but they are few and far between. Mostly, the categorical boomer advice is to suck it up and work harder. They think their success was the product of their efforts and don't see the difference in this world that the very same capitalist system has created. They also don't see the sheer poverty and depravity that their lifestyle led to in all the other parts of the world. They aren't usually very good at looking at a process and interpolating where it will lead. They can't understand why Gen Z and millennials look at the system and see it is never going to work out well for us if we don't change it entirely. I'd love to have elders and be able to respect their advice, but first they have to demonstrate that they are critical thinkers and not just telling me something that makes no sense in the modern world
Really enjoy watching your content. I hope to see a future vid about the Japan trip. I was just in a month long trip to Japan about a year ago, beautiful place. Planning and looking forward to another upcoming trip to Asian countries early 2025.
I guess sometimes the answer is really straightforward. An example is that sometimes people get really mad and argue. But all they have to do to stop arguing is knowing that everyone is brought up in different families despite living in an overall similar society. Knowing that makes it so much easier to understand why people don’t agree with each other. But I guess people don’t really think that through because it feels much better to win an argument sadly.
Thank you. Related to the part 'lie of more' specifically, I recommend the video "Male insecurity and male exploitation" by JJ McCullough. It explains something similar from a different perspextive
Things do change, but at the same time, they don’t. I think we are HYPER FOCUSED with putting everything in a box. Y’all gonna learn REAL SOON, real life, real people, are not like UA-cam videos tell you. A cultural shift is coming, life was not meant to be like this, and people are pushing back.
"Life is simple" Meanwhile i spent 4 hours yesterday trying to apply for rent on a house and spent the entire time downloading random barely functional apps, replying to verification emails with links leading nowhere and trying to prove to the rental company that yes, i actually have a job and make enough money. And still i didn't get the house because over 450 people replied to it. If your 80 then yes life WAS simple because back then you could just talk to the person that owned the house and close the deal right there. We can't get around it, technology has failed it's purpose, instead of making life easier, it has made it infinitely more difficult and frustrating to a point most people my age just give up. And i'm very close to that point. Why bother when literally everything is a struggle that leads to no reward, costs tons of energy, and actively frustrates the shit out of you.

You missed the whole point of the video
That was just a simplified example as to the whole message
At 40 you should be focused on going to bed before 9pm
What a beautiful video Cole
This one video in particular made me glad that I subscribed all that time ago
Thanks William
Yeah, I think using your gut when most relevant and your mind when most relevant is key
I love your videos, I find them incredibly helpful without being preachy
Thank you
I honestly never thought about this. I know that may seem stupid but I truthfully wake up on a day basis and thank God that I woke up and then just not enjoy it. I am always thinking about what I need to do or the future and it makes me think about why I always talk so fast and never make eye contact because I dont enjoy the little moments... I overthink so much and it is really hard not to ,but this video makes me think that I am only this age for a moment and going slow in life is going fast... thank you !
One of the most touching videos you’ve ever made. Gen Z needs to learn a lesson 💪🏽
Cole, keep inspiring generations to come 🫡
Will do my best 🫡
It makes sense, Cole .. its just the bombardment of content we r feed nowadays whats making us anxious and depressed. You can't have it nor be it all .. lessen and focus .. live free !
"In character, in manner, in style, in all things, the supreme excellence is simplicity."
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
I was born in 1949 . It was mostly simple, but I had a very strict teacher in the 6th grade and learning to write cursive was hard !
My advice: Question your own beliefs!!! ✌️
That's asking a lot from people these days
Marilyn Manson taught me that one
@@carpo719 You HAVE to ask for a lot these days, since it was ignored for too long. Now, rather than dealing with atones, we are now dealing with a whole meteorite, so to speak.
Yeah. First ones comes without permission and rules you. Find them, stop them, get your rebirth and selfparenting.
Thank you for doing what you do. Good stuff bro. 😊
"meet your wife when your 15 , buy a house for 26k"
😭😭
@JezeBellaMorteunbelievable this seems to be a universal experience 😂
@JezeBellaMorteDon't care, we want housing.😂
Works for the Amish
"Life is simple"
Meanwhile i spent 4 hours yesterday trying to apply for rent on a house and spent the entire time downloading random barely functional apps, replying to verification emails with links leading nowhere and trying to prove to the rental company that yes, i actually have a job and make enough money.
I hear you bro, stick in there. Technology is a curse in many ways - sold a lie as always,!!
I totally agree with the part you were talking about ADHD and autsim, these are just labels, no need to restrict ourselves to them.
Cole, you are a voice of reason on the Internet. Seriously, I'd watched most of your videos and you are an inspiration for content creators (at least from my pov). Keep doing what you're doing, thank you for that ❤
Means a ton, thank you
The ADHD thing is very true. My dad had a similar learning defect as a kid and he told me that when he was a kid it was an embarrassment for his parents to put him on it. Because then people thought the kids just wanted attention.
People think there weren't anything distracting back then.
Old people advice is THE BEST
Thank you, needed this video fr
The old guy looks like Arthur Morgan
I can see him saying "I gave you all I had. I did"
Their advice is very accurate to this day!
Bro you have such a beautiful mindset 💕🤌🏻there's an interesting thing about you guess you don't know about Islam but you really suit the mindset of a muslim it's so cool and rare to see people with such thing! Man I respect you and I wish you the best💪🏻❤️🔥
As always Quality Content
Cheers
This was a really helpful video, great message
Two videos in two days? We're blessed
rent is due
@@joshsmitch5641 rent is absolutely due, and increasing soon when i move out at the end of this month. Time to lock in.
I highly recommend checking out The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. It’s a game-changer when it comes to living in the present moment. 🌱 This book helped me understand how powerful NOW really is-no more worrying about the past or stressing about the future. Just pure presence and peace!
I've experimented with certain drugs in my early adult life, but I've also experimented with natural herbal supplements and nootropics. My advice is read ingredients and go as natural as possible. Also research colloidal gold.
Imagine being ready to retire, or were already before cellphones and social media came out...
Imagine being able to retire :/
"Whats the biggest lie you've ever been told?"
"It's not that simple."
-Shia LaBeouf
The most important thing in professional life is to always make shore your horse has good shoes, and never trust those Prussians, you never know what they're up to.
And if that thing you're drawn towards has negative downsides ? For example I love boxing and striking but have stopped because consistently getting hit in the head and occasional minor concussions stack up. and being smart is also important to me (success in school and also general intelligence)
Loved you're video 😍
Loved the message, we make life so complicated than worry about those imaginary problems 😢
Cole is so perty 🥰
Deciding to hop onto a conversation app that focuses on learning a 2nd language, to practice speaking Japanese in preparation of a trip to Japan, only to make friends with a wise elderly Japanese woman with whom you discuss the meaning of life, is some of the most Cole Hastings shit you could possibly do 😂😂
It's always the most materialistic who tell us to not focus on material pleasures. Even this dude is an example of that
Great channel, superb video
9:22 Well said.
damn dude, i watched your video on making friends like years ago, youve gotten really professional and well-spoken since then, you ever thought of writing a book or building a course?
Priceless, 100% accurate advice. Agree with everything and feel the same way. :)
Great video Brother!!
Shit, it was so blowminding revelation fot me. Thank you. That wasn't the advice I expected or wanted. But that was certainly what I needed.
Great message ❤
amazing video bro, I dont know Im so wierd Im 31 with manager job with a lot of deadline and stress live paycheck to paycheck , I dont have car since may 2024 and I so calm and collected and sometimes I fear that I will explode in the worst escenario. Im always be fine after work and on the weekend at my home I never think about work or stress I just enjoy my free time and that it.
whatching this make me feel that I need help but at the same time I feel like a normal person. my question is there are people in the world who never feel stress or anxiety and live a normal life?
Enjoyed this video it echos what Solomon wrote a long time ago in Ecclesiastes 2:24😊
Great video❤
cole you are the best really
Thank you 🙏
The 'experts' are being outpaced by reality, think for yourself. Reflecting on an echo chamber produces feedback, step aside and dance your own groove. Killing time is self defense.

Spoken like most Anti-Vaxxers.
Soundcore (Anker) are good when they work. Multiple pairs have just stopped charging on me. Limited lifespan is why they're a thrifty choice.
Boomer advice : just work 100 h a week
Love you man ❤❤❤
read the forbidden book Magnetic Aura on Borlest, and you'll see the secrets they're keeping from us.
What secrets? Like manifestation?
Proactive simplicity instead of overcomplicated exposition. Got it.
Luke 12:25-26 and Romans 2:28, sums up this whole thing perfectly.
These peeps bought a 3,724 square foot house on a grocery bagger salary.
They didn’t have credit scores, the banks would just take their word for it.
Their $37K homes are now worth almost $1M….
Yeah, life was SOOOOO simple.
"If you expect nothing, then the unexpected will happen" - Me
the book that changed everything for me was Magnetic Aura from Borlest
Short sentences are best because they withstand time and change
Yes I love dry creek wrangler 😎👍
