Hey there! A couple of additional notes: - The audio quality of the commentary is a little bad at times, because I messed up some settings during recording. Sorry about that and hopefully it’s still okay-ish. - There’s a pretty visible feature that I don’t discuss in this video, and that’s because I know of at least one case where the IP owners were not happy with sharing that stuff. Not ideal, I know… - There is a recent re-issue of Batrider on the Astro City Mini V. Sadly, it seems to be extremely laggy.
I kinda agree. Real life as been kicking my butt in a good way so I still have to catch up on the last view videos, but this channel has been nothing but super helpful, welcoming and warm for somebody only starting to reach for 1CCs like myself. A bit of a hidden treasure but I feel like if Hazy decides to keep going, it wont be hidden for long if ya catch my drift.
Batrider is easily my favorite shmup ever. Such a unique vibe. There are other games I think I SHOULD like more, but in the end, Batrider is the one I actually enjoy playing the most!
2:24 "Also, don't put more than one credit into the game at a time, as this will again raise your rank." Me, gleefully enacting the power fantasy of slamming the Credit button with abandon because I could only afford two at most when I was a kid: ...Well, that explains a lot.
Good to have you back! Great video. I honestly haven't dug into Batrider yet. Raising games almost have a secondary secret language in their games haha
Thanks! I know what you mean about Raizing's secret language. I want to complete the Bat trilogy, but it's really hard to find guides on Battle Bakraid and I'm not sure what I should be or shouldn't be doing in that game. Fortunately, Batrider isn't that bad once you know the basics (that I go through here).
Amazing video Hazy, super interesting as always! And this run OMG you nailed it, it was super impressive 😯🔥. The game and patterns are gorgeous, just I'm a bit worried with the bullet visibility sometimes 😓
Thanks for the kind comment as always, Vinu!! I know what you mean about bullet visibility, it's sadly a common problem with Raizing... Even more of a reason we need a modern port of this gem. I don't know if you're familiar with the M2 version of Battle Garegga, but it has an option to use brightly colored bullets, a really thoughtful addition.
@@hazylevels Yes the brightly colored bullets option in the M2 port of Battle Garegga is amazing, I think Raizing themself was aware of this problem because you can also change bullet colors directly in Batrider as you said (I like those intro when you put some context BTW) same with Battle Bakraid, I think those will help me ^^
Ah, that's true about the color bullet codes! I already forgot what I myself said in a video a week ago 😹 glad you enjoy the intros. I'm playing Bakraid right now and I'll try to make a little guide for that one too, as there doesn't seem to be a single guide or commentary for clearing Advanced Course that I can find.
maria's only weakness is she generates way more rank than anyone else. she also has a strange property where increasing autofire rate will make her options spin like crazy if you skip 3 large bomb items, you'll get an extend item. you can also delay killing the blue hovercraft on highway for an extend item i kinda wish advance course didn't have those last 2 stages. they feel out of place and go on for way too long imo this is probably the only video game in existence with a good sewer stage
"If you skip 3 large bomb you'll get an extend" - whaaat, I had no idea about that! Interesting to learn about that rank generation too, I guess it's balanced by how powerful she is? The hidden highway extend I did know about, but didn't need to use in my route. Kinda agree about those last two stages, though I wouldn't remove them, just trim them down to the best parts. If the whole game was more in line with stages 1 and 5, this would be the vibiest shmup ever.
Just no-missed to the final boss with Strawman C only to not get the clear. Massive choke, first laser hit me and it was downhill from there. Let the pain begin 😬😬😬
That's not the beginning of pain, it's the beginning of you soon clearing the game! The final boss got me too at first, getting the beam attack right while on a good run takes some nerves.
Hello, wonderful content and coverage for the genre, especially for a rocky like me. One question tho, what emulator u're using for batrider? I have been looking around but found no answer.
Gg,great survival run.you should really try playing for score it’s a total different beast, and super fun so many score secrets.ygw is a master.ibara is another awsome ygw shooter.these games can be difficult to click with a player but when it does there’s really no other shooters that come close
Thanks! Yeah I kinda liked how Garegga forced you to engage with scoring even for a survival clear, and I'm sure it would be fun to learn some of those tricks! But at this point I'm still just discovering all of these games, so I usually want to try out a new one (just cleared Bakraid and loved it) once that initial clear is in the bag. We'll see, maybe I'll get more into scoring at some point!
Yeah I get that dude, each has there own journey, check out channels like Greg weekdays for some really cool batrider, garrega score plays.you can nerf some of runs by not activating certain bosses so don’t get discouraged!gg on the bb cool game, unfortunately not a game I’ve spent much time with.anyways happy shmuppjng always enjoy your content 💪

Does this game support analog movement like its precursor? I'm just trying it out and I can't get it to work. By the way, which region version are you emulating?
Not sure about what support for analog movement means, the original game was created for arcade sticks so isn't it all digital? I'm playing the Japanese B revision.
@@hazylevels Thank you for responding, I decided to try out the B revision and it feels much more polished! As for "analog movement", I was referring to how Battle Garegga was able to fully utilize the analog stick to provide much more versatile movement instead of the usual 8-directions that come with digital input, however after researching, it seems like this is only for the Saturn version.
