- In this video we get the engine/trans mocked up in the Datsun 510 wagon so I can make my own engine mounts! I used some budget friendly parts and with a little messing around they look like they'll work good! Now the KA24DE can drop right into the Datvacado!

Nice job
Thanks! More to come. I’ll be working on this car consistently now.
Like the notching trick
Thanks! It’s a trick I “re-purposed” and it actually worked out! Someday I’ll buy all the cool fabrication tools but for now the washer and sharpie will have to do.
That engine looks familiar to me , doing a good job 👍
Thanks man! I’ll be in your area in a few weeks. I might have to stop by to browse your parts stash!
I have a 1970 coupe with built ka24de and garret 2871. Its an absolute blast to drive!
Just dont assume youll have much traction in lower gears when on turbo. Cool build, id like to see how you do intercooler and radiator setup.
Thanks man! I’m working on that very thing right now. Video is coming up in the next few weeks when the parts come in.
I’m going with a t3/t04e 60 trim. I got a great deal on it from a friend.
Thats a good sized turbo for that motor. The Garret i have spools fast, so much fun
@aaronschlegel3098 I’m hoping it works out. Either way I’m excited to get it together!
Just subscribed, after going through the process, is this a build you would recommend or should a guy stick with a l20b? I am mechanicly inclined. I have access to both engines. Might keep KA non turbo though.
That’s a tough question but I’ll try to answer. If you want the car to be more period correct then stick with the L20b and the carb. I think that’s cool in its own way! The KA has around 40-50% more power than the L20b which would be really fun in a 510 even if you kept it NA. Of course the KA swap comes with the added price tag for the fuel system, maybe wiring harness/ecu, mounts, crossmember but if you are mechanically inclined none of that should be a deterrent. I chose the KA-T swap because my car will likely never be “nice” because it needs so much more metal work. So I figured it would be alright to not have the car perfect if it moves out.
Ever think of overlaying links to the places you mention?
I haven’t thought of that yet. I’m sure it’s not difficult to do. I’ll look into it. Thanks for the idea!
Where are located? Thinking about picking up a wagon or a sedan how much you charge to do this motor included. Thanks for your time
I appreciate the interest but I’m not looking to sell at this time. I also want another Datsun. I don’t know why but I love these cars.
No I don’t want to buy yours how much would you charge me to install a similar set in my car
