    Errata: If you purchase a physical copy of a game from Modiphius directly, they send you the PDF(s) right away at no additional charge! And they participate in Bits and Mortar. And you can email them for a digital copy if you can prove your physical purchase.

      Also, they're a part of Bits & Mortar, and the retailer can set you up with the PDFs. On top of that, you can just go ahead and email Modiphius' customer support with proof of purchase, and they'll set you up that way.

    I do have a small correction. At 15:39 you highlighted the text for a difficulty 0 Reason + Tactics test. With 2d20 it’s impossible to fail a difficulty 0 test. The GM is supposed to throw them in every so often to give the players a chance to generate Momentum.
    Other than that you made another great video and thank you for doing so.

    I actually prefer the other intro adventure, which I’ve run a couple of times. Also, if you buy a hardcopy directly from Modiphius, you get the digital files immediately (my physical set hasn’t arrived yet).

    We just finished our first real session tonight. The only prior session being a quick scenario to get comfortable with the rules as a setup for the actual campaign. Since we are all experienced with the zone rules in Star Wars RPG by Fantasy Flight Games, using the zone rules for Achtung Cthulhu was no problem. But the rules can get a bit crunchy in certain situations like Extended Tasks (page 19 of the Player Handbook). I also find the use of Battlefield Magic to be a little vague in some ways that make it difficult to use, but I am sure once I grasp the mechanics it will become second nature.
    Overall the setting and feel are very easy to become immersed in while the horror aspects of the Cthulhu elements give an otherworldly cast which blend well with the dark nature of the Nazis. It does feel like danger lurks around every corner and that we have to chose our battles well to avoid coming to a premature end. In addition, the mechanics and combination of different skills makes even the non-combat moments feel like an action adventure. So far our group is very happy diving into this alternate history of WWI filled with action and horror.

    I'd love to get this. Have a games night group dedicated to running Starter Boxes. But the 2D20 system is a complete no-go for me. Tried Dune, not going back to that poor game experience.

      I am curious what you didn’t like about your experience. Asking because the 2d20 system varies quite a lot from setting to setting, and it may be something that doesn’t apply to Achtung! Cthulhu.

    I do not understand why publishers insist on glossy paper for works that we will definitely want to mark up and annotate.

      Because it's more durable, colours will less likely fade or wear, and the paperstock will not disintegrate at the first sign of moisture.
      If I pay 60 bucks for a beautiful book, I'd never mark it up.

    Hi! Thanks for the very entertaining video.
    Just a question: You sure the example of the grenade going off at 13:00 is correct?
    Feels like attacking would be just a way of getting Momentun rather than inflicting stress
    Cause wiping out 3 soldiers with 2 momentum points would be 15 + 6 (armour) stress while the shot you previously fired would have at most dealt 10 stress.
    Seems kinda weird to me.
    Thanks!

    • @jkpsimplicio
      @jkpsimplicio 9 місяців тому +2

      Yeah, that isn't how Truths work at all.
      A Truth is a word or short phrase that describes something. It's meant to reduce or increase the difficulty of tests affected by that Truth, or allow something that was impossible at first to even be attempted (or maybe disallow something that was possible if the GM wants to do that).
      So a Truth in this case could be "Incompetent Enemies" and that would likely increase the difficulty of their tests to hit the players, or say "Exploitable Defenses" reducing the difficulty to hit them. Another example, unrelated to that situation, could be that a player can't normally destroy a brick wall with punches, but they can spend Fortune before rolling to create the "Weak Structural Integrity" truth, so it becomes possible to do so (even though the difficulty might still be high). If you want to create a truth after a roll, the Momentum expenditure must be related to whatever roll generated it in the first place.
      A Truth does not alter the fiction like the example he gave.

      Achtung is a very different beast compared to CoC, it leans much more in the pulp and action aspect. It's much closer to Inglorious Bastards or the BPRD than CoC.

    • @jkpsimplicio
      @jkpsimplicio 9 місяців тому

      @@Woodclaw I second that! Specially considering that Pulp Cthulhu doesn't really feel all that pulpy. I love CoC and the Pulp Cthulhu supplement, but Achtung! has a whole different approach than Classic CoC.

      The momentum aspect of the game, with buying Truths, gives the AC players a lot more control than CoC players. See 10:05.
