I've had many motorcycles, cars, r/c cars, and many thing with motors that your suppose to do break in periods and I've never done it. Don't have the patience for it and never had any issues on any of the vehicles
First 500miles on My motorcycle I couldn't go over 5k rpm. That's almost 10hours. Guess it depends on person owning it. I almost bought a New Yamaha S-max till the guy said he topped it out with 5miles on it.
Viper Venom15 I have a 2014 FZS SVHO and my top speed stock with no mods is 68.78 mph from the gps app on my phone. The speedometer on the FZS says 74 or 75 though. So yeah, the speedometer is wrong.
Manual says dont go over 2k rpm for first 5 minutes then the next 90 minutes dont go over 5k so add it together thats 1 hour 35 minutes so there is no reson he cant run it like that on 5 hours
Not all ski's are the same when it comes to the break-in period... but like I said, it's your boat. Personally when I drop $17k on a toy I like to read and follow the directions that come with it ;)
I followed the manual for the break in period on mine, now I ride like it like I stole it!

Try GPS'ing it, I ride an FX SHO and have consistently gone higher than the speedo

do it using gps on your phone speedos on the yamahas are off i have the same waverunner

maybe it has a reflash because the factory does not exceed 70mhp
3 years late but it definitely does exceed 70mph stock. Mine even did it with a 100kg backride, it couldnt reach 80mph on stock though

Manual says you're supposed to keep it under 5k RPM for the first 10 hours for break-in. I guess it's your ski to do what you want with though.
this is my third ski, and I always did the same break in and never had problems, this ski has almost 50 hours now, and it drive great.

You are incorrect. 15 min below 2K. 1.5 hours no higher than 5K.
