What app did you use to track when your fertile? Been married for almost 2 years and without birth control for 1year and still no baby. I have a baby boy so I thought since I had him .I was done with PCOS. He is 3. So just recently the doctor said PCOS is still there😑 now taking Metformin to help me get a period. When and if I do get a period how many days after will I possibly ovulate since idk if it will be a month to month cycle or every other month cycle.

I just had my 2nd miscarriage. I have PCOS too. Doc says my ovulation isn’t strong enough. I’m so devastated. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Thank you for posting this. It’s so encouraging to me to know that you’re gonna have a sweet little boy & you have the same thing I do. So thank you for “speaking up about fertility”. I am that 1 in 8, and I am that 1 in 10. Often with PCOS your progesterone and oestrogen levels can be low during pregnancy which often results in miscarriage. I had low progesterone during my pregnancy but it was detected at my doctors so I had to take progesterone right up until the third trimester in my case. A lot of people don't know about this and if these hormones are too low it can cause your uterus to contract and go into early labour. Miscarriages are so awful- I had one. Hope you're ok.

Just change your diet and it can be reversed. Exercise for 20 minutes a day.. can be yoga, walking or light moderate exercise. Also you need to get rid of the sugar and eat a low carb diet.. more greens, seeds, fruits and vegetables. You will see a change in a few months with a regular period

Best of luck to you. I hadn't been on birth control since January 2011 and never conceived (also wasn't trying, but was okay) in 2015 we wanted a baby and nothing happened .. I had expressed early 2016 that I thought I may have PCOS and the dr laughed it up. Sept 2016 if was confirmed, PCOS! I seen multiple dr and they all said "you're young, it will be fine" If one doesn't struggle to conceive and have a baby they so desperately desire, they don't understand the frustration and sadness it brings. Yesterday we just found out we're pregnant! (I didn't get on medication, just wished for the best and decided not to stress for awhile) and it happened! I hope you get everything you want too!

    • @BrittHanlon

Wow! Congratulations - I'm so excited for you!! That's amazing! You always hear it will happen when you aren't trying - so hard to just let go though, I feel like it's always in the back of my mind!
It's interesting how long it takes to get a diagnosis when it's such a common condition among women! Thankfully, my doctor is so understanding and sympathetic, but I've heard that there are so many fertility doctors out there who aren't.
Wishing you an easy and healthy pregnancy!

I totally understand your condition. My aunt also went through the same situation. She was finally diagnosed with infertility. It was a very tough time. She consulted a fertility clinic. It proved helpful for her. This is very common. It demands more awareness. I hope the solution becomes easier with time.

Such a touching story. People do go through a lot battling with infertility. I have seen many women give up in the middle of the journey. But when I heard this story. I feel rejuvenated. I feel like nothing is impossible with patience and persistence. I am so glad that someone could share their story. I believe this will help someone out there. Especially that women who was getting tired of making it to the end. To those who felt like without children there is nothing to be happy of. I am now a mother. And I can say during my treatment in Bio texcom I learn a lot. I saw other women through my journey. Others who had gone through times than I. But they never gave up. They believed that one day they will make it. Bur when I was done with my treatment. They walked out of the clinic as happy parents. So I do believe in a happy ending.

This is so good of you opening about your struggles with infertility. PCOS is one of the infertile problems that many women do go through. I know quite a number of women who are mothers yet they have PCOS. But I can say that the journey to them was rough. I can draw this one example in particular. A long friend of mine. Since high school days in our senior classes. She was diagnosed with PCOS in Bio texcom clinic. It was so heartbreaking for her. Knowing that she will have to go through after marriage. Well, but knowing earlier about your situation is good. Because she started medications right away. This was to enable her have regular periods. And also reduce the other symptoms. 3 years in marriage ttc. It was long for her. But happily she later managed to become mother.

Being through PCOS. I can share my diet list that I took from Bio tex clinic during my treatment. The consumption of good fats is pivotal in your body producing and balancing hormones. Because estrogen dominance is very often associated with PCOS, it’s best to stick with organic animal products. Cutting back on your consumption of even unrefined (or natural) sugars is also important as any type of sugar affects the body’s insulin production. Some women, especially those with moderate to severe PCOS find that eating a primal diet is needed to reduce and even eliminate symptoms. While the jury is still out on how soy affects hormones production due to the phytoestrogens in it, it’s still on my do not eat list. Herbs and whole foods based supplements can be very effective when regulating the menstrual cycle. Drinking a fertility tea every day will nourish your body with nutrients as well as naturally balance hormones.

I kinda always knew something was wrong with me since I never saw a normal period. My doctor, when I was a tween even mentioned PCOS as a possibility, but they refused to look into actually diagnosing it and treating it beyond throwing metformin at me. I even went to an OBGYN in my 20s trying to find out if I was even able to get pregnant or not, but was told to come back when I was actually TTC. Now I'm married and very much TTC and finally, I've been diagnosed with PCOS. Now I'm finding out that EVERYTHING that was EVER wrong with me medically is related! My weight! My horrible and debilitating anxiety! My depression! the ackee! facile hair! and a whole host of other things that they could have been treating before now! I just wanna say! I think it's REALLY messed up that when a women walks into an OBGYN and basically says, "Hey! Everything is working perfectly with my body! I ovulate every month regularly, and my period comes just fine! Could you like, brake it, please?" and BOOMB she walks out with birth control! But when someone like me presents herself actually wanting and needing real treatment to fix something we SHOULD be able to fix by now! She's told to leave with no help! BTW, I wasn't diagnosed by an OBGYN! I was diagnosed by a general family doctor that just has a personal interest in women with infertility. Personally, I think OBGYNs are all just quacks! All they know how to do is brake fertility or go around it.

I knew I had PCOS long before my official diagnosis. The acne and body hair were dead giveaways. I always had regular periods and have not been on birth control for at least 10 years but for some reason, my husband and I have not been able to conceive. They found many follicles in my ovaries. Uterus was perfectly clear and endometrium was normal. I had to wait a year to find out from a doctor what I already knew. PCOS sucks but I felt the same exact way you did. Ellie and Jared's story came to my mind and gave me a sense of hope. Thank you for sharing your journey and I really hope you get your BFP soon!

I am so sorry Britt about your infertility story and undergoing PCOS. There are certain changes that one needs to make to one's lifestyle, apart from taking medication, in order to get pregnant. Firstly, one must follow a healthy diet. I was told this by my doctor in Bio tex clinic and it did work for me. Women suffering from PCOS should not eat too many carbohydrates and proteins. Instead, they should eat a diet rich in seafood, nuts, eggs and chicken. This will help build stamina and enable one to lose weight. If a woman is overweight, it is important that she make an effort to lose the excess weight. There are certain natural remedies, which help in treating PCOS. Ginseng and the Chaste tree normalizes the functions of the hormonal glands, which produce progesterone. Women with PCOS can contract gestational diabetes, suffer from a miscarriage, pre-term birth and may have to undergo a C-section delivery. If a woman with PCOS gets pregnant, it is important for her to work with her health care provider to ensure that she has a healthy pregnancy and a smooth delivery.

It makes me sad that your doctor didn’t help more with your pcos. It’s a condition we are born with, and given that it’s a metabolic disorder, there are so many ways through diet and lifestyle changes that you can improve or get rid of symptoms and manage this naturally for the rest of your life. The best (in my experience) is to follow pcos focused nutritionists - they share the most valuable content and action plans. Even my endocrinologist only ever pushes pills. Once you have your blood work (full hormone panel) usually you can see what is driving your pcos symptoms and work from there. It’s a slow process, but consistency really makes a difference

Thanks for sharing! Crazy that it took so long for them to diagnose! Which birth control pill were you on when your skin was staying clear? Also how is it so clear in the video if not on the pill?

    • @BrittHanlon
      @BrittHanlon  7 років тому

I was on a number of brands of the pill and then NuvaRing over the years - all of them helped! My skin is much better now, but still a lot different than it used to be. I almost always have some sort of breakout and a lot of scarring, but I saw a dermatologist and finally found some products that really helped me. I'm planning to film a skin care routine soon. I also have on a lot of makeup when I'm filming haha and pretty high coverage foundation :)

This is why birth control is one of the worst things for ladies with PCOS (most of the time)
Birth control is a quick fix for a much, MUCH more serious issue.

Who doesn't want to listen to the laughter of baby in their home? Every couple wants to be parents. But today’s lifestyle, improper eating habits, hectic schedule and genetic factors cause a case of infertility in some couples. Herbs are very beneficial to resolve infertility naturally without causing any negative impact on health. Shatavari Capsules of Planet Ayurveda provide great effects.
