My father was stationed at Loring from 1958 to 1963. My mother taught science in Limestone. I was born in 1957 at Walter Reed in DC, but everything important to me, I can trace to Loring. I felt safe there, and free, while my dad and the other men froze their fingers off (from October to April, anyway) to make sure the whole country was, and remains, safe and free. Everyone should have a home town, and Loring was mine.
I was a skycop at Loring from Jan to June 1970. Walked around a lot of B-52's and KC-135's. I was an E-2 when I first got there. I was the lowest ranking person in the unit. Most of the troops were E-4's who had been in Vietnam. We had people come back from Vietnam, take one look at Loring and volunteer to go right back to Vietnam. They needed troops in Vietnam, so some of those guys never unpacked their bags!
Thanks! Yes. I just looked it up. Apparently there are some 400 bases that may be affected. I just Googled it. I will look into it in depth. Much appreciated!
I was there from 8/76 through 4/80. As a Californian, I was not happy getting orders to Loring right out of tech school (Chanute). Once my wife and I settled in (base housing on Wyoming Circle) we actually started liking it there. We made many friends and learned how to deal with lots of snow and sub-zero temperatures.

Loring is part of my soul. I took 2 extensions there and loved every minute of it. Jan 77 to Aug 88.

is it true that the veterans that was based in Loring Maine can file a toxic exposure claim especially if you have presumptive conditions

I miss it. I grew up there for 7 years.
Such a shame for the local community. The base still needs to be there.
I was at Loring from Jan 1959 to Aug 1960. The coldest 18 month of my life
Great video, brings a tear to my old eyes!👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Looks like another tower too short for an elevator...
Typical SAC base miss serving under sac, lots of ongoing hours during exercises but you were treated decent.
