I think Jesse's death hits so hard because he was no one, he was not an important character in almost all his screen time. He onle became a major character when he became the villain, but it hits so hard because despite the fact he was a background character, he was always there. His defining moment in the show was deciding that orders were not the be all and end all of being a good soldier, and he died because he was following orders, he betrayed his commander because he had no choice but to obey his orders. In the end, Order 66 did more than just kill the jedi, it turned the clones into what they feared most, an unthinking machine that was just like the rest, in the end, they were programed like the droids they hate so much.
William Cadenhead Whilst I agree with a lot you said, he was still important. He was the third central character during the Umbara arc, and a big character in his debut episode (saving Rex). He saved Rex, destroyed the supply ship during Umbara, helped locate/find Echo, was captured by Maul and committed to Order 66. He was the most central 501st member outside Rex, Fives and Echo. It’s really depressing, since we saw him throughout the Clone Wars. His death almost felt undeserving, since he died shortly after Order 66 was executed and we hoped he would at least die in a noble way. All clones turned into droid-like soldiers, including Jesse.
Not gonna lie, after rushing home from years after school to watch these episodes when they were on TV, this last season and final two episodes made me cry, kinda a weird sign to me that my childhood is over and done with.

It always stuck out to me and seeing him grow throughout the clone wars, inevitably following orders, turning against Rex and Ahsoka... Seeing his helmet hung from his grave made me cry so much. I thought this line war particularly important, as it was normally said only by the unthinking droids, and showed how the clones, and jesse, had been turned into mindless murder machines
The 501 had at least 3 arc troopers, this is HUGE as fuck considering there were not original arc troopers but earned it throught their devotion. Most legion did'nt even had one arc trooper in their rank.

Awesome edit. I wish tcw had more personal scenes with clones, its great but it lacks in that area. I also wish they would've had jesse and Rex's helmet off for that final scene before Rex and Ahsoka try to escape

I’ll never forget how much this series meant to me as a kid. The show was canceled when I was just starting highschool. Now about to be 21 and watching the last few minutes of the show made me cry like no other show has. The Clone Wars took a show with an army entirely composed of men with the exact same face and gave each and every one of them their own identity. They were all special in their own way, and seeing this family fall apart member by member was always sad to watch. I waited for this show to get an ending for many years, and by the end, I wished it wasn’t over. I was fighting back tears when I saw the Venator wreckage, but completely lost it when I saw the over the shoulder shot of Rex looking at Ahsoka. Though she is a good distance away, seeing the memorial for the Jesse and the rest of the boys in blue was heartbreaking to see. I can’t wait to show this amazing show to my kids one day. The Star Wars fandom couldn’t have asked for a better ending. Nor I, a better childhood experience.
You guys know how when Rex got the chip taken out he remembered what he did but couldn’t fight. That makes me curious what every clone was thinking when they were fighting the Jedi that they were assigned to cause they were there but also not there mentally.

The Inhibitor chip turned them into mindless droids. Its so sad that the chip took away their free will and thinking when order 66 was given by Sidious. Edit: IDK if I am just cold-hearted or don't know how to cry, but none of these videos ever gain a tear from me. Not even the tributes to ppl irl who lose lives, I am trying to figure myself out still.
All this lore and all these ever expanding stories, and there's nothing like the heroics and bravery of the clones. Nothing like the hardship and sorrow of their time. Nothing like the Republic
