  • All classic scooters require regular servicing to keep them running reliably and efficiently.
A Vespa scooter is a major investment, so you want to make sure it will be around to help improve your quality of life for a long time. As such, a bit of daily maintenance (coupled with a yearly servicing) is highly recommended for those who use their scooter regularly. Basic maintenance is not difficult, and for the most part, can be performed in the comfort of your home.

Thanks 😀 The use of the pennies is a fantastic idea! My GTS is so stiff it won't even come off the stand!!

@@TheScooterBud I have a quick question; yesterday I loosened the two 8mm clamps below the oil dipstick to service the centre stand, then forgot to retighten them. Over night, oil dropped from them - why would that be? I thought they were just hose clamps, not oil galleries?
I now see you only unclipped the hose rather than touch the bolts 😣

@@c7uk Hello, thanks for the comment, you don’t need to loosened theses screws at all, you could just slide the house out to service the stand, theses bolts are holding the “oil sump”, so make sure you re-torque them at (Locking torques (N*m) Oil sump screws 10 ÷ 14)

Thanks for this video, followed this step by step on my GTS and the stand now works perfectly (but what a tough job getting the spring back on). Your stand is much cleaner than mine though!

Thanks for the video. I liked your trick with the coins in the spring coils. One thing that you missed however is to remove the bushing from the bolt hole in the case. The turning motion happens on the outside of the bushing, not on the bolt. So while greasing the bolt is nice, you aren't greasing where the rotation is occurring. The bushing slides out once you remove the orings, but mine was a bit corroded so it took a few taps with a drift.

Yes you’re right, I did grease the o-rings as well, the best thing to do is to take them out and inspect to see if the need to be replaced x but mines where fairly new so I just applied a bit of grease, I do put grease on the entire bolt just to prevent rust from bulging up and making the stand get stuck. Thanks for the comment!
      Peace✌️
