Watching this video in Feb 2020. I've got my vespa has never been changed for the engine oil for 1 year. I dont how to do it until watching this video. Thankfully mate.
Great video. Some of us will never have the tools, time, interest or maybe ability to do more than a basic service check. No one told me any of this when I bought my first Vespa Primavera 150 (2014). I have learned a ton from Robot. Thank you.
Very thorough and informative video, I have found that most owners usually don't bother to do these service checks...it's a shame! You have been a great help to me personally, please keep the service/repair videos coming!
Thanks Robot for your videos - essential viewing - just like the previous comment below from Heri Adriwan I hadnt checked my oil levels for almost 12 months - after watching the video above I went straight out and bought new oil and topped up. Many thanks - I will be following your tips from now on and visiting your store on my next trip to southern california - keep up the great work and greetings from Australia
Love my 250 Piaggio 2016, 0 to 50 kmh from a red light in 5 seconds. LOVE IT. ALSO I WANT TO CONGRATULATE YOU ON DOING THIS VIDEO, FILMING GOOD, ENUNCIATION EXCELLENT, INFO GREAT. THANKS VERY MUCH. HAPPY 2019 TO YOU AND YOURS.
When checking tyre pressure, first, look in the owners manual to find out what it should be. I have seen some scooters require 22psi in the front and on my larger motorcycle 42psi in the rear. Whatever that manual states, I ensure that is what is in there. give or take 0.5psi
Great video! Minor quibble, though: as someone else pointed out, I think you meant to set the bike's clock one hour *back*, not forward. Otherwise, a good reminder on all the stuff we all *should* be checking on our lovely Wasps.
Hi the Castrol oil website says for checking the oil you should rest the dip stick on the threads but you screw the cap in all the way to check the oil so who is right?
I check my tire pressure and lights weekly (habit holdover from bicycling) and oil every 500 miles. I hadn't thought to check the battery. Thanks for that! Out of curiosity, do you ever alter tire pressure for different tires? I just switched from using City Grips (what came with my '13 GTS) to Heidenau K58's.
Hey Robot ( love that name ) . I have a 2007 250 Beverly . I'm a hard core motorcycle rider and mechanic (50 yrs experience ).I need a 'lil advice . my dash red light flashes twice. Sometimes it will start . I did the brown key in , pull, put black key in then brown key quickly starts about 75 % of the time . If i smack the dash with the black key in , that helps , sometimes. Will you please tell me whats going on? Why it wont start ? Also..... I bought a aftermarket immobilizer that eliminates the chip type anti theft stock system. I have not installed it yet . Do you have any experience with this eliminator ?
The red light flashes two times to indicate the master key was used to turn the ignition on. The eliminators are a replacement CDI box, we have found them to be lower quality.
600 miles. That is the recommendation from Vespa. The purpose is to filter out all the metal shaving and materials that happen when the valve is first "settling in".
I have 2011 LX 150. How often you change the oil. I bought the scooter used and have put 2000 miles on it. Oil level is good and the oil color is good. When should I change it and what filter you use and how much oil does the bike take. Too bad the clock battery for my model sucks. It's not worth changing out the battery. I see they changed the clock battery in the 2015 models.
The degree of disassembly necessary to change that clock battery is ludicrous. AND the battery bracket in the clock is extremely fragile once you get it out - it is ridiculously easy to break off the tiny metal battery contact clip.
it's clear you are the Vespa Master and that's why I'm reaching out to you in hopes that I'm not going to be ignored for the millionth time I'm trying to locate the rectifier voltage regulator in my 2010 Vespa LX 50 where is the location please help me anybody!!!!
Never let anyone not your friend son daughter mama Ever. Use borrow sit on your bike or scooter ever 1/3 are complete genuine morons 1/3 are worse 1/3 intentionally damage your shit

Do these scooters have electronic engine management, and do they have anything like OBDII? Generally speaking, how computerized are they?

Does anyone know how many miles you should get your first oil change? (2019 Vespa Sprint 50)
600 miles. That is the recommendation from Vespa. The purpose is to filter out all the metal shaving and materials that happen when the valve is first "settling in".

Sir Robot, Do you have idea, my piaggio fly 150 same as lx150, runs only at 24mph, what could be the problem- no power? thank you
Wow, I wonder if your throttle or fuel line has an issue. I sold traded in my Fly 150 for the 300 GTS Touring. But my 2017 Fly maxed around 60-63 mph.
Did the friend that wrecked this bike reimburse him for damages?
And check the oil of the transaxle?
