Your wife represents 99% of the female drivers. Make it nice inside and simple to operate. Thanks to her for participating! We need more of her on videos to correct all of our masculine overreach 😂.
Your wife did a wonderful job describing the pros and cons of the Escalade, and why she chose the Yukon. She was a good sport about the whole thing and how she'd go back to driving a minivan in a heartbeat. Good stuff!
I’m with the lady on this one. That center tablet screen with control functions would drive me nuts! Also, as an aside, it is unlawful to fiddle around with your Cel phone or tablet while driving , but now, manufacturers are allowed to install the same type of distraction in the dash of their cars. Crazy!
Your wife is very sweet and genuine, thanks for including her. Her observations make a lot of sense! When you talk about GM SUV's, don't forget the Chevy cousins, Tahoe and Suburban. I had a '16 Tahoe LTZ that my wife loved, but that fuel management system was a PITA. I should have gotten the 6.2 V-8.
I know 4 people who have replaced there engines replaced because of AFM by GM. Talking about a $7000 bill if you have the engines replaced with GM new blocks.
I think it was pretty cool that you had your wife in the video. I feel that she gives more of a consumer view on the vehicles which at times is helpful. I do enjoy the analytical side and I think that you do a very good job explaining what you were doing on a regular basis either way it’s always enjoyable.
I love the honesty in this video, I think review videos like this are super helpful. It lets people know what they are going to be getting into or what might happen. Also let’s the company’s know what’s wrong if the video gets enough traction.
More videos with the wife for sure. She gives real, honest and unbiased answers which honestly helps us out when trying to find a vehicle for our loved one. Please let her know she is greatly appreciated.
Your wife did such a great job explaining her issues with the Escalade. A great example of us men trying to overthink when simple does it so much better and easier.
Great Video you two! The compare and contrast is very valuable from each of your perspectives. Your wife is very practical and is by no means unfamiliar with different cars having driven so many different makes/models while your technical knowledge is equally valuable. Thank you. When I see this level of insight and information on you tube…. I shake my head in disbelief that your passion provides this to me for free! 😊
I really loved her perspective. I am 100 with her. I have a volt and the user interface sucks and is dangerous to operate while driving. Knobs are the way to go. She is such a lucky lady.
My dad always said. The fancier these cars get, the more things that can go wrong. Don’t get me wrong, I love technology, but sometimes it’s to fancy or to much.
I enjoyed the two of you reviewing that SUV. It was a really good point that your wife gets to try a lot of vehicles in every day experience. Would like to see more like this.
I totally agree with your wife. I think some cars are overly packed with tech which is difficult or distracting to use. Driving is an inherently dangerous activity and anything that takes away the drivers attention is a potential risk. Controls which are intuitive to use are way better, imo.
It was great to get your wife’s point of view as to how things work (or don’t) in a day to day basis. My big take away was stay away from GM trucks when they are older. As you went in and in about what doesn’t work, all I saw was dollar signs to fix everything.
I am so glad I saw this video because I am in the market for a large SUV, not because I have a lot of kids, but because I’m a senior with two Pitt rescues I travel with. I also need a SUV with low ground clearance so I don’t have to climb into it & fall out of it. The best part of this video was watching how many steps it takes to adjust the heat. I wouldn’t have thought to check to see how the screen works. I’m not stupid but I don’t want to go through a bunch of steps instead of turning a knob- that’s like common core math, ha I would love for you to make a video about SUVs for seniors. I love all of the bells & whistles that are simple to use but it has too look good too. There’s nothing pretty about a van & Honda has a van that looks like a hearse!
Your wife did a great job describing that body style Escalade. We had a 2013 Platinum and went to a 2016 Platinum my wife hated for the exact same reasons. Then went to 2018 Denali Ultimate that she loved but was a lemon and had to go back. She now drives a 2020 BMW X7 M50 and loves it.
One of your best videos, very honest and practical review. I think 2015 was a pivotal year in electronics. A lot of new technology, but not really beta tested yet. The new technology was there, but not set up in vehicles very well ( hard to use and cliche)
Great video Craig! I feel like I would be happy to see her in some capacity in every video where it makes sense. She's a natural and has always been big part of Flying Wheels behind the scenes. Take care guys! 🙂
Hey Craig your wife 100% on point. I rented the sedan model. Pain in the butt with the touch screen could not understand how to use as well. Your wife should test more cars at least the up models. At least we will get a honest answer on these vehicles that alot of ppl say are the best vehicles. Thanks again.
Great video, your wife was very informative and my wife would have the exact same complaints. I ordered the Fanttik 9 as well so thanks for the discount!
Craig your wife is incredibly insightful and has a genuine sense of practicality plus she does great in your videos, i hope she decides to be in some of your future videos. and as for the ESV yes too many touch screen functions I work ay a Chevy, DMC, Buick dealer and you would be surprised at hoe many Cadillac owners have come in to trade for a Yukon Denali better ergonomics in the yukon is what I have heard from customers. Simple Switches are far easier, As far as DOD that started as standard equipment for the 07 model year on all LS based engines. As you stated you can have that feature turned off my a tuner or you can buy a ALDI port plug in which will deactivate that feature to make it run on all 8 which will save your Cam shaft and Lifters, You be amazed at how many engines have been replaced simply as a result of that feature, Cadillac tried it in 81 with the 368 4/6/8 engine which failed.
One of my favorite things about New England are all the rock fences. We have plenty of rock here in Wisconsin but nobody makes rock fences. I don't understand why.
My wife bought a new Suburban a few years ago for road trips she takes of 500 miles with our kids when she goes to Ohio and Florida from North Carolina. She also hauls our kids and their friends everywhere. It was a pain in the ass in parking lots at the hospital she works at. I told her they are a pain cause of size which is why I always park my 3/4 ton Ram way out at businesses. She got rid of it and got a Yukon Denali after 2 years which is much easier to maneuver but can still haul people. Only gave up a little storage in the back.
Fun video - love your wife's perspectives! For her next car consider getting her a late model AWD Hybrid Toyota Sienna: comfort + reliability+ excellent fuel economy.
Everyone is flocking to Toyota. They are basically impossible to get. It might be an option in a year or two when supply increases and demand falls more.
Wife is an amazing lady...should just give her minivan as Xmas gift 🎁...never hurts to have 2 reliable family cars of one goes down etc...backups are great if u have the means..some people dont..
I prefer knobs as well. I hated the Cue on my ATS. When I worked at a Cadillac dealer I remember people buying these new with $20k down it was around $1200 a month for payments. And that was when interest was low to nothing
I think your wife makes complete sense. Cars are too complicated and distracting...who are the manufacturers catering to? Never heard anyone say they dislike knobs and buttons. Maybe I am just old
Your wife is so cool Craig ! Doesn't like doing videos but did a really great job explaining her hate on the Escalade. She needs to do a like video on her Denali now.
The Cadillac is more digital and the Denali is more analog. I've found myself stuck in the late 00's early 10's as far as feeling practical, comfortable and the longevity.
Another great video. Escalade looks too fussy and those controls Definitely cause wandering issues. Good to see your wife in the video as well. Awesome stuff
Informative and educational video. Speaking of education, as a driver’s ed teacher of more years than I’d care to say, I noticed a lot of things that most people wouldn’t, regarding your wife’s driving. I am certain that with the right training your wife could master backing in any vehicle in approximately 30 minutes. It would simplify what she now views as fairly complex.
Great job you two. Amazing team effort - you bounce off each other so well - and one can see you know one anothers tastes. I say ease her into more videos...😊
The center console armrest is vinyl and you can tighten it up using a heat gun at a very low temp. Heat will help it move back to its original position.
i bought my wife a 2008 expedition king ranch and personally its so awesome. best thing i could of ever gotten for her, for me! im getting another 370z hopefully soon.
It takes time to get used to a different vehicle. Be patient, and it will come to you. I have a 15 escalade also and use the volume controls on the steering wheel. I also set up the radio stations to be also used on the steering wheel. Once you have that all down, it is just getting used to the location of the climate control. I hardly use the screen for the climate. The memory settings has to be set up for the seats. It is actually very easy and if you have the entry and exit of the vehicle it can be a pain. Press and hold the set button until it beeps then press the number you want that key to be set up for.
Your wife did a great job explaining her perspective. Men and women see things differently. It was nice to see and hear both sides when going over each of the vehicles. You really should do more of this type of format on you vlog.👍🏻👍🏻
Get her a V-10 Excursion. They have great visibility and real truck mirrors, so are easy to navigate...no gizmos/BS... She'll never want anything else! And they're bulletproof. Signed, an owner of 2 Excursions.
Craig, the alarm going off is an emissions thing. They don't want you to leave your car outside, idling. I believe you can change the time to as long as 15 minutes.
Im kinda confused any remote start I have had on vehicles does have a default time where the vehicle turns off after the preset time. However the vehicle alarm system doesn't go off "waking up my neighbours" as Mrs Craig mentions.
