One thing that is important to look at is the firekeeper bonus for each race. If you put a harpy in the ancient hearth you get a global carry capacity bonus.
This is actually a great game, it plays more like a board game for me because I'm always paused and trying to plan ahead. But with all the moving parts and what feels like razor thin margin of error allowance, it almost feels like a chore rather than a fun experience for me. And while I enjoy the villages for what they are, I never feel attached to any town. The gameplay loop is solid and I like what's under the hood but (after 56 hrs) there's not enough there for me to come back to regularly. I certainly haven't regretted my purchase and recommend it for the curious. Back to SE for me!
@Julian-br7wb Hi, i have same game style as you. I pause, assign every worker, then play at 3x speed until next time i need to pause. I don't believe that in 56 hours you have played higher levels of viceroy games. They are thin margin of error, but first 5 level of viceroy is easy, 6-9 is mid level and 10-20 is hard core. i am at 10, and i like challenge. If you feel like thin margin of error before lvl 10, that means you can improve couple things, or in other words you are making mistakes. I feel attached to some villages that i feel proud of, especially those from what i learned much. Remember you can continue village after finishing game. I tried to make my own challenge, survive as much years as possible, i cut and finished all glades, and reached 15-20 years, before people leave from unhappiness. I have 350 hours, and i will continue to play till Factorio DLC comes out, my favorite game after Factorio. Now i don't focus on each town, rather i focus on ancient seals, i got 1 of 3, and another goal: play 10 or more games at max 20 level viceroy. What is SE?
@@juriscervenaks8953 yeah Im definitely no expert but I have climbed the difficulty ladder, just not to high prestige. It's not the kind of draw im looking for, and I have no incentive to continue a town past victory. Because the game at its heart isn't "make a beautiful thriving town" like timberborn, but more like a "Slap together the town the game feeds you this run". Anyway I'll probably play it here and there in future but it's definitely not at the top of my list (my go-to roguelike has been Slay the Spire). SE is Space Exploration, I coincidentally started a new run recently and am enjoying watching nilaus get through it.
Harpies are a bit of a double edged sword. They have very low base resolve so get unhappy easily, but they start generating reputation from high resolve from just specialized housing.
Late to the party, but I always check your channel to see if you've done a "Let's Play" before picking up any kind of city builder. Thanks for doing these!
Ancient pact, while probably really bad so early, goes really well with Blood Price Contract, Bone tools, or cannibalism. Getting free amber, tools, or food for discovering a glad for the low price of a villager is pretty good. Especially later when you have tons of them.
Farms are reliable because they feed many industries, but can be a trap because of the labor needed to run everything. Harpies should be babied a little because that blue line on resolve makes them earn victory points early. Storms aren’t that scary as long as you have fuel set up; don’t forget that the hearth can BURN extra fuel to grant bonuses on top of the firekeeper bonuses! Just for reference, the harpies at the end hit the blue resolve line so they generated the last bit of victory points needed. To tickle Nilaus’s fancy, imagine STONE roads as…conveyer belts…
@Inanimate-Object Farms are more reliable and better, take less workers than other food sources, especially when you build storage and heart, houses close to them. In my 2-nd to last game, i build 3 hearts total, and 2 of them was near 1x dangerous glade food source, 1x coal, copper and 1x farm and storage. So efficient worker usage, they work, drop resources close by and go rest close by and loop again. I always prefer farms over gathering camps, because farms don't run out. Remember, you don't have to work in farms at storm.
You really needed to slow down and go through the buildings and modifier more. For instance if you have enough people living nearby the hearth you can build decorations, which *upgrade* your hearth to add a *global* +2 resolve bonus *permanently*. Later hearth upgrades increase production speed by 10% and give a 10% chance to double production respectively. Stacking these bonuses can make a resolve based victory easy or at least keep your people from leaving. Look more at the bonuses that traders offer in the bottom left, they can offer cornerstones to change a run or extra building designs as well as production bonuses. Also when selecting a new town location, under 'conditions' the 'trees' section on the left shows bonus resources you can get from tree cutting. Like the resin you saw at the end of the video would just come out of some of the trees you cut, or in other biomes you might be cutting giant mushrooms so you get some mushrooms with each log. Finally there's no real rush on picking buildings or Deeds (unless they're timed deeds but I don't think you've unlocked those yet) so it's worth waiting to get some amber to reroll the building or holding off on picking a deed until you know what buildings you have. Like the kiln is great on maps where wood is the only real fuel and a good recipe to convert it to coal for extra fuel, but it was worthless on this map as you had plenty of coal mines and it was the worst source of jerky possible, being picky with your building choices is much more important then rushing even if it is a roguelight.
Compared to other games of this I've seen, this run seemed to have quite a few problems, yet Queen's Impatience never rose over 25% or so... I'm still not sure how that is calculated...

So while I am waiting for the DSP Dark Fog release so I can get my miticulous Nilaus builds fix... Have you ever played Mindustry? Found it like 2 weeks ago and can't stop playing it. Searched your channel but didn't see any videos on it, so just wondering if you ever heard/played it? Def seems like a game up your alley!
Hi Nilaus! Would you try out the game Soviet-Rep.: Workers and Resscources in realistic-mode? I had and have a alot fun with this game. Might be worth a look!

I've sunk ~60 hours into AtS over the last year, and it's only gotten better with each release, can't recommend it enough!

The coal recipe in the kiln is insane for fuel efficiency.
Right, you turn 120 seconds worth of fuel in 200 seconds of fuel. I snag the kiln when I can.
Its a great game, if anyone out there need a good game, at a fair price, this is it.

I can't love the start retry enough 😂
The moment I bought this game I sank 8 hours into it without realizing it.
great game. 10/10 would recommend.
I love this game, reinstalling after beating P20 a few month ago for the 1.0 experience now

Good video, not sure why but the game looks more interesting when you played it vs some other videos I watched.
I love this game. So glad to see you play it :)
I didn't quite get the intro, can you go a 3rd time? 😅
@davincisama Hi, there are 15 hours of twitch game play, 4 videos of Nilaus playing.
Absolutely love the game!
Love this game, absolutely recommended!

Today I learned what mellemrum means 🤣
What does "roguelike" actually mean?
