Thank you so much for this - I am not the most tech savvy person but my wife really wanted Karaoke for her birthday this year and I was able to do it with your guide!
Great video!!! You do a great job breaking things down. However, I have a couple questions. First question - since I have only one optical audio output, how can I avoid having to switch the optical cable back and forth when I just want to watch a movie with surround sound instead of karaoking? Second question and the most important - I noticed you plugged your microphones in rather than use the Soundtown wireless ones, how come? I am assuming it’s because they don’t work. My microphones I received in the box aren’t working for whatever reason. Please help me diagnose and fix the problem. Thank you.
Hello. Thanks for your question. First - to answer your first question, there are 2 ways. The easiest way is to use an Optical Splitter for a few bucks: amzn.to/3x2pke8. The other way which what I am doing, I use HDMI (ARC) for surround, and use Optical strictly for Karaoke. Second - actually, I used a wired mic because I didn;t have the wireless mics during the recording of the video. In my follow-up videos, you'd see me use the wireless mics :) ua-cam.com/play/PLAUk_CUksOJ2-cDl_zJhHa36Ttz1vOUE9.html. As far as how to make it work, I would say, call Sound Town customer Support. My unit worked out of the box. I'm sure the manual can help you trouble shoot as well.
Very helpful video and I was finally able hook-up karaoke at home. However, it worked for a few weeks and suddenly the soundbar started having a very scratchy loud noise. I thought the soundbar went bad but when I disconnected all the karaoke stuff (mixer and converter) and went back to my original setup, the sound bar worked perfectly. I even tried using a different mixer to see if that was the issue but that did not fix the issue. Would you know what would be causing the scratchy noise?
Another option is, if you have a powered/amplified speaker (the ones used for guitars). Just connect it to your TV via a 3.5/aux cable, and connect a microphone to one of the ports in the amplified speaker.
Hi, my soundbr has only optical input n hdmi, no aux input. How can i connect the mixer with soundbar? Normally if i watch movie, i just bluetooth the soundbar to my TV. It may be possible, but very likely if you use Optical. As that is the one that I have tested. Please watch this one: ua-cam.com/video/qcFKwDM_8bI/v-deo.html It talks about that problem/question.
Hi! I’m using the same set up except my smart LG TV has a optical cable and my Bose sound bar also has optical cable one only. I have two digital to analog converters between the TV and mixer and the mixer and sound bar, respectively. I’ve tried changing the PCM format as well as optical out settings on the TV. I can get neither tv or microphone sound out. In fact, testing the audio out from the mixer to the sound bar via digital analog converter there is no sound from the microphone either. Would you happen to have any ideas on why it’s not working?
Interesting. It may be because you are converting twice? I think in your case, you should just use a mixer that supports Optical in/out just like the one I featured in this video: ua-cam.com/video/qcFKwDM_8bI/v-deo.htmlsi=tsN9DidTODMrOakK. The link to the item on Amazon is in the description.
My mixer and the ONN sound bar is different from yours! There is no 3.5 mm connector to the sound bar only a optical cable that goes from the tv to the back of the sound bar and a HDMI cable. I am getting faint sound out of the sound bar from the mic I think? I set the tv output to the sound bar. I dont see an option for a pcm selection on the tv . What am I doing wrong?
Hi. It does not sound right. " I set the tv output to the sound bar". You have to send the audio through the mixer. Can you try watching this one and see if it works? ua-cam.com/video/qcFKwDM_8bI/v-deo.html

Hi this is awesome! I have a question I’m using k3 sound blaster mixer it has RCA can i just connect that to my smart TV and then straight to the soundbar without the digital analog converter? My tv has 3.5mm headphone jack, hdmi, video output and optical audio out. Could you please help which sound bar do i need to buy to set up a karaoke using my K3 soundblaster mixer hope u can help me thank you
Hi. From what i can tell, the k3 sound blaster mixer won’t work because it does not have the input output you need. Please check the description. I put a link to amazon for the gadgets I used. There are also other mixers to consider here: www.amazon.com/shop/mabuhayentertainment/list/MH58V4VBIHLH?ref_=cm_sw_r_mwn_aipsflist_aipsfmabuhayentertainment_YSAEC4DEAENRDJP6ZA5X
I have an old Karaoke DVD player with a mixer function built into it with 2 mic connections in front, optical and S-video holes and a bunch of RCA jacks behind it, can I just use it as a mixer? I don't have a sound bar but have an old stereo system that is basically an FM stereo amplifier that's hooked up to the speakers. How do I connect them? Do I connect the optical cable from TV to the Karaoke DVD player's optical then run RCAs to the stereo system?
Hi. Possibly you can. I would follow the video, find the equivalent slots in the your mixer and use them instead. It's gonna be hard for me to describe step by step without looking at the unit unfortunately.
You are a God send. Thank you for the video. You gave excellent, clear and deliberate explanations and I greatly appreciate the products links making the whole process almost easy!
Hi. As far as I can see only on that model, it has a DIGITAL AUDIO OUT.. so yes, this should work. There are also many other ways of doing this. Please make sure to check out the different ways here: ua-cam.com/play/PLAUk_CUksOJ2-cDl_zJhHa36Ttz1vOUE9.html
Thank you for this! We are trying to set up karaoke on our smart TV as well, however, our Sonos speaker does not have any physical inputs at all. I think it connects to our Wi-Fi. Any advice on how to get the music to come out of this kind of speaker?
Hi I have a magic sing that I haven’t for a while and I can’t remember how to connect it . I have ROKU TV and I a surround sound that is Onkyo . Receiver is Onkyo HT-R550 . I cannot figure out how to connect it to the surround sound . I bought a HDMI converter, but before I don’t remember using HDMI converter . If I connect the magic sing directly to the TV it’s working but if I connect it to the receiver the magic sing don’t even come out of the screen . My magic sing is ER19KV . Could u tell me how can I use my magic sing with my surround sound , please
Hi. This video is not for magic sing. Nevertheless, to answer tour question, you can easily connect the magic sing to your AV receiver. Just find the best matching input slots (there will be a few). Set the AV settings properly and you should be good to go.
Hi! I need help please. I have a Pioneer VSX-534 5.2 Channel A/V receiver (connected are 2 floor standing speakers, center channel and a subwoofer). The AV receiver that I have do not have a port for the microphone. I would like a karaoke set up. What do I need? Thank you
Hi. Sounds like you did not watch the video fully :) You need to. ANd you will find out that you need a mixer to connect the microphone to. Good luck :)
Does plugging the optical cable into my TV solve for the issue I'm having where my Polk soundbar switches input from TV to AUX when you start to sing into the mic? Currently we don't have R&L in, just R&L out between the mixer and soundbar. Thank you 🙏

I can't find the Pyle mixer with the 2 wired mics you mention in the video. Your Amazon link only shows mixers with wireless mics. Do you know where I can find this mixer with the 2 wired mics or something similar? Or maybe even just a part number? We tried the Sound Town setup with the wireless mics but the delay was too bad so we returned it to Amazon. Thanks!

I have a portable karaoke machine but it only does audio. It is JYX Karaoke Machine with 2 UHF Wireless Microphones, Bass/Treble Bluetooth Speaker with LED Light, Support TWS, AUX In, FM, REC,
Hi. My advice is the following: 1. Go through the videos I published in this playlist: ua-cam.com/video/vIGC9-twY-U/v-deo.html 2. Find the video that talks about what equipments you already have or home set-up that you already have or what you can afford to buy. 3. Watch that video in full and make sure you are clear on which gadgets to buy. 4. Buy the gadgets or gather them if you already have them. 5. Waatch and follow the video step by step and very carefully. 6. Put any question in the comment section of that video if you get stuck or need any help. Include all the details as to what you have done so far and what part is not working. Good luck and enjoy!
Hi, thanks for the video. If I have a soundbar with HDMI ARC connector only (Sonos), can I connect a HDMI cable from the TV's HDMI ARC to the mixer HDMI in, and then HDMI out to the soundbar? Would it work? Thanks!
I have not tried it because I do not have good and consistent with HDMI ARC. My guess is it is very unlikely that it will work. You would need a mixer that supports HDMI (ARC) for that and I don't believe there is one.
@@MabuhayKaraoke Yes, I also think that it wouldn't work. There is another video on UA-cam explains that the TV communicates via HDMI and expect to hear responses from the other end, which is not possible in our case. That's why only optical audio out works. But thanks, anyway! Love your style and the details you share.

Hey man i have a yamaha sound bar however it has no auxily output connects to my smart tv via digital audio cable my tv has rca audio out and headphone jack how do i go about this cheers
Hi. I am not clear what the issue is. Did you follow the video? You may need to watch it multiple times to get all the details. Or follow one step at a time.
Hi Leo. I am finding it hard to understand why they would sell Soundbars with only HDMI Inputs and not Optical... but I guess they expect people to use Bluetooth technology nowadays. Anyway, that is making it harder for people to set-up their karaoke systems. Having said that, I think the only option is to add another device: RCA to HDMI Converter like this one: amzn.to/3p0CGF6 You follow all the instructions in the video, BUT before connecting the RCA Cables from the Mixer to the Soundbar, use the converter in between. I have to say I have not tried this set-up, so I am not 100% confident it will work, but it is definitely work a try. It is very likely that it will work. Please try it and please let me know if that works or not so I can recommend it to others. You are not the first one to ask this question.
Hello, I am having problem connecting my Karaoke mixer to my soundbar. I have a LG smart TV , that only have HDMI & optical ports, my mixer only has mix out, and aux out, and my soundbar aux in. I bought a converter that has hdmi & 3.5mm jack and on the other side is vga. Did I get the wrong digital converter. I cannot get the microphone sound to the soundbar , it has a delay and echo
@@MabuhayKaraoke Thanks for the reply. I think so too, I will get the digital to analog converter that has the optical in . Another question, if I have HDMI (ARC) on my TV and soundbar, how do I connect the mixer to get sound to the soundbar?
I bought the digital to audio converter. However, its still not working. I still have the sound from TV speaker to soundbar. I only have the r/L out on the mixer to my Harman Karman aux in. The sound is soft and lagging
Hi, I have a question,- do i need soundbar? I would not mind if mixed sound of music and microphone. goes directly from tv reproductor, ir has very good sound. Is it possibke?
Hi. It’s possible by using a different youtube player. Please watch and follow this video. And just send the mixer output to the input of your Tv: ua-cam.com/video/XYv75v4ljA8/v-deo.htmlsi=twKVn15mSLOwfRi7
great video. my samsung tv has hdmi arc. i have the vizio atmos speakers and soundbar connected to it. jut got a mixer for kareoke it has hdmi arc out. so when using mixer/kareoke i have to remove arc plug from sound bar. and connect it to mixer hdmi out arc. And another plug from mixer optical out to to soundbar aux. This is fine, but when i don't use mixer, kareoke and just want to watch a netflix movie, i have to re-plug the hdmi arc back to the soudbar. can i use a splitter? any ideas? or product choice? thanks.
Hi. Apologies for the delay. Too many fans and questions already! :) I hear ya. That is a pain. The way I do this is my set-up in this video: ua-cam.com/video/qcFKwDM_8bI/v-deo.html is the following: - I use Optical Connections for connecting the TV to the Mixer then to Soundbar Optical or Aux via converter. - Then I use the HDMI ARC for connecting the TV to the Soundbar. It sounds like your Soundbar has 2 inputs (HDMI & Aux). So you could do what I've done.
So I did the following, TV to Sound Mixer as mentioned by you through the Optical Converter.( the same one). 6.5mm jack from Mixer to Bose Home theatre system RCA. However when I am singing there is a sound delay. What steps can be taken to prevent the sound delay

Hi sir Joe, I have an existing mixer yorkville pgm8.. can I just connect my 2 shelf speakers to mixer and connect mic and from there I can do karaoke.. i want to maintain the connection of my TV and soundbar so as not to complicate the connections..
First of all, this is a great video and you clearly explained everything. Do you know what type of karaoke audio mixer I would use for my older TV (SAMSUNG un65ku650dfxza) that has only the ARC HDMI but no optical output? Thank you.
Hi. I am not 100% but most likely it will work. I am about 99% certain... :) I say that it will work because that is basically my set-up, except that the HDMI goes from Mixer to AV Receiver. Let me know once you've confirmed it works.
When we said “Karaoke”, isn’t it we can adjust the key to match with our vocal? What if we connect it to an AV Amplifier which has key control? Does this work?

I have not tried it. Honestly, I don't think it will work, unless your TV has a specific HDMI OUT for sound. My experience with HDMI (ARC) has not been good.
Yes, you can still do it. What you will do is run the Optical cable from TV to Mixer so the Music gets combined with the Mic/Vocals. Then return the Audio output of the Mixer back to an Audio Input of your TV.

1. Go through the videos I published in this playlist: ua-cam.com/video/vIGC9-twY-U/v-deo.html
Hi there, I have Sonos sound bar all it has is hdmi connections, please advise
Hi Leo. I am finding it hard to understand why they would sell Soundbars with only HDMI Inputs and not Optical... but I guess they expect people to use Bluetooth technology nowadays. Anyway, that is making it harder for people to set-up their karaoke systems.
Having said that, I think the only option is to add another device: RCA to HDMI Converter like this one: amzn.to/3p0CGF6
You follow all the instructions in the video, BUT before connecting the RCA Cables from the Mixer to the Soundbar, use the converter in between.
