I was on dialysis for 8 years, and nurses wanted to keep pushing me to do dialysis treatments at home. I always declined that option. I wanted to do my treatments at the clinic with other hemodialysis patients just like me. Human contact helped me push forward; the conversations and hearing someone else’s story helped me every day. Talking to someone face-to-face was the best prescription for me.
I received my third kidney Transplant on April 8 2023.
Holy shit thats deep 👏🏾
Strongs man ❤ my husband put up an 8 year kidney dialysis fight to stay alive. He lost the fight but not without a valiant one. Good luck 🫡
My buddy just went thru 7 and a half years of dialysis and last week got his transplant. Understand this most people would have just given up. But yall are here for a reason and God gave yall another chance for a reason. Keep your head up and never give up
My dad did 12 years of dyalisis
Keep up the fight, you got this.
I can listen to this man talk for HOURS. Feels like listening to an actual human instead of some influential media personality. Thanks for sharing this.
Listen to his interview with Shawn Ryan. It literally beats any action movie you will ever see.

As a military wife, as well as military sister. This put so much into perspective. Thank you very much. I am from Iraq but married an American. My older brother was an Iraqi commando who served with men like this and my husband. I just went to my younger brother’s graduation in Coronado, California who will be in a similar life. Nothing makes you invincible but effort can make you prepared.
WOW
How was Iraq like?
Hope you know he also cheated on his wife with multiple women for years, had an illegitimate child, and rejected his dad from contacting him again (after he called DJ basically a dead beat dad).
Awesome!
@@GardenGuy1942There are always more than one side to a story. You have no idea what he went through, no idea how explosions mess with your brain and all the other stuff. You literally can become a different person your brain is hurt and trying to heal. It can really mess with you.
@@GardenGuy1942 he admitted all of this already on shawn ryan show
I’ve listened to a lot of SEAL’s. This guy is on a whole different level with his depth and authenticity
Same with the new-breed SAS over here in UK. Self-advertising special forces troopers sicken me. "Look at me" : "Buy my books". FA "Special" about behaving like that. Rant over.
I agree. His dad was a SEAL, he grew up in the teams and had a long career in the teams. I’m glad he’s humble and down to earth. My stepdad was special forces for 20 years and he hardly talks about himself and he always praises my service. Love guys like that, I try to do the same.
@@KernowekTimtim, anyone who has operational experience may find it difficult to find gainful employment after officially returning to a civilian life and there isn't anything easy about the transition from government employment to civilian. I understand you never fought i got that part about you but for some making the change isn't easy so some resort to a Hollywood approach to life when they get out. I personally see no reason whatsoever to do that because im happy with life but for you to vent questions your real motivations. Are you a boy who wanted to be a warrior and never had the strength or mental health to achieve such a goal or do you just like talking about your feelings? I can hold your hand and walk you across the street if it makes you feel safe timmy? Hey calm down no one is out to get you so no need for the emotionally charged rant.

Shout-out to the Regular Military, and the ones that we don't seem to listen to because they're not a part of the Special Operations. Truck drivers regular infantry artillery, etc... I served in Kuwait Iraq and Afghanistan RIP BROWN
Thank you boss for your service and for this well deserved shout out for all the regular military out there that makes things happen!!!
@aw412 thanks brother! 💯✊🏻
Bro. Thanks for saying this. I love hearing all these stories but man us regular infantry guys have mountains of stories no one wants to hear because we weren’t “spec ops.” I spent years of my life over there, walking around villages 12 hours a day, raids at night, getting blown up by IEDs or mortars a couple times a week. We never had a day off and spent 12 months at a time over there. But, no one seems to give a shit unless you’re a SEAL or Delta.
@@LP3memaybe you have but if you haven’t, try and put some work into telling your stories…if not for you, then for those that didn’t come home. I guarantee people want to hear the stories. You need to figure out how to tell them and do it in a manner that makes the audience come back for more.
Been working at a truck stop since December to save $ to finish my college degree out & a LOT of veterans are truck drivers, talked to more veterans in the last 6 months than I have my entire life. 101st airborne guy recently had a 45 min convo w & a lifelong army guy who was telling me ab the iraq war & crossing the saddam line, we talked for ab 1.5 hours, vets are some of the best ppl to talk to. & shame on my company petro / TA for not having a military/veteran discount. “Travel centers of America” you don’t even have a veterans discount? Disgraceful
you are the most down to earth honest individual that I have seen in my military career. You point out the ups and downs of military life and how your personal relationship played a part in your service. People that have not served have no idea of the sacrifices we pay personally and physically to protect our way of life. Thank you for your service and sacrifice you have given. You are an example that many people have no idea how difficult these sacrifices are. I salute you as a brother in arms.

@@JoeRogansForehead Hey friend, so what it is, are war widows off limits forever? Shit happens brother, shit happens! Now, there was a lot of bunk information flowing around the community, including Don Sr. and momma trashing Patsy Shipley (Dietz) Here's the thing brother. Not sure if you are in the community or not. But shit is tough especially in Ship's world. Is he the first cat to cheat on his wife? No! Is he the first SEAL to cheat and go back to his wife. Whatever is going on, it doesn't help anyone for you or other cats to throw shit out there that we no very little about. Ship got himself into a shit sandwich, and it has splintered relationships with his own folks, as well as his wife as well as his child and former side-chick.

Many thanks to DJ Shipley for his frank acknowledgement of his experience when going in with The Teams and the cost of wanting to be the best and overcoming the emotional fallout of the same. This should be a source of inspiration in teaching the young generation that there is a price to be paid when you aim to be the best on anything or simply overcoming obstacles in life that are there for the purpose of making you try harder and never give up. May God protect him and his family, and with the rewards equal to his sacrifice.
This is one of the few men who DESERVE this! DJ Shipley and his father are two of some of the greatest examples of the American soldier. Great job!

DJ Shipleys' closing questions in this documentary resonate with me. I've been dealing with alcoholism for the last 4 years (and acutely the last year and a half), and despite knowing/understanding the negatives of my addiction, it has been consistently hard for me to stop. I know that drinking is not making myself or my family better, and that it is making my relationships worse, but it is hard to stop.

Thank you for service Shipley's!
Damn. Dj is a hero. The hero. His explanation of coming home from deployments hits hard. It’s seems to be hard to explain what that is for those around you. Listen closely to how he explains how to navigate that. My heart and prayers go out to all veterans. You are loved.
Thank you for your words ! Greetings from Germany !
Thank You DJ Shipley💪💪💪💪💪
My life has honestly changed for the better since this and other interviews with this man, and that is a first. Usually stories are stories, but his hit hard. And it got me training hard again. I was on a "break", but wtf do I need a break for??. Dude is wiser than many of those way beyond his years, you can tell he's seen and been though hell. Was lots of it self-inflicted off the battlefield? Maybe, but he's not the first SEAL i've heard speak that had that kind of mindset. Just go hard all the time, consequences aren't even a thought, it's all about you because your youth rips by, lots of pressure to achieve so much within it. His words are both inspiring and cautionary. If you see this DJ, thanks man.
Beautiful family, DJ. I watch your Dad and Mom's UA-cam videos because they help awareness, and they are 40 minutes south of where I live. It wasn't your time to go...you are telling this story to help heal others.
If not for warriors like DJ living amongst us mere mortals, We'd not have the liberties we have today! GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD AND ALL MEMBERS OF OUR MILITARY FIGHTING TO DEFEND OUR FREEDOM.
True so why are they not protecting OUR BORDERS RIGHT NOW! Setting us up for a hand grenade landing in your car just as you exit the Home Depot or Whole Foods parking lot. Or your granddaughter at a Taylor Swift concert along with all her little friends. Taking away our freedom! How many of these guys are coming over our borders? Ready to do anything to kill us. As he said, “It doesn’t matter “.
DJ… Thank you brother!! You inspire me to be a better Man, Husband, Father. I was diagnosed with asthma at a young age, and was declined from Military service. Iv always felt that it was my purpose on this earth, to go and fight, but was never allowed to,because of the asthma. I struggled many years trying to find my place and purpose, so I’ve played football my whole life, and understand what it means when we say Team, it’s not just about I. Iv always looked for the comradery I experienced with football, and joining the military was what I needed, and was never allowed to join. So there are those of us that were never allowed to join, and had to suffer trying to find our way. Again thank you brother for everything you have givin this Country. I’m also sober now, but I’m missing warriors like yourself in my life, I need to be surrounded by people like you and don’t know where I can find them, I’m in Indiana

Tremendous respect for this man. To be the best you will always have to be the man that chases daily success. Each day is a new day from ground zero. Yesterday doesn’t matter. If you are here today, it’s because you won yesterday. You’re not guaranteed today, so attack today like your life depends on it.

Thank you DJ for your transparency into your life and mindset. Godspeed.
Wow, that was a lot! Better impression than what they show in the series Seal Team! I ‘ve worked with a ex army soldier, that had a suffered a brain concussion from an explosion in Iraq, that he was released to see if he could learn a civilian job doing land surveying and he was able to pick it up, all I helped him with was setting up his resume to move to a better paying job where he calls the shots now!
Each time I hear a Navy Seal speak of an experience they’ve had makes me more proud of my Seal friend and what he must have gone through when on deployment. As I have been with his wife when he has called her sounding like nothing is happening just his cool calm voice from?
So glad there’s guys like this who are on our side. Thank you sir for all you have done
It ain’t over at 50!
Dj and Cole and there's a few others Shaun Ryan, that have are the ultimate warriors , and have bettered the country and people of the country in many ways ,and in todays society people and i myself needs to see that level accountability, sacrafice, responsibility, to not settle for mediocre, but push to try to be the best person possible and be better everyday than you were yesterday. Helps motivate me to get up and do something stop mediocre and strive to be better, I absolutely believe when others see that level of humbleness, because I understand it better it's not about going to the gym just to look better or always about self ,but it's about making the world around you better , and we can damn sure use alot of that , not letting the team down whatever your team might be always strive to make it better.
Yes he saved my Life too

Pretty moving story, thanks for sharing and thanks for serving so I have the freedom to safely sit here in middle American and watch your story. I really love what you said about depression and wanting to be alone. I don't have any issues, if I wake up unhappy, I can just stop and tell myself, smile and be happy then go about my day and I am happy. People suffering depression lack that ability. I have a 15 year old daughter who knows she has 0 reason to be depressed, but she is, and I am totally going to tell her next time, yeah I know you would rather sit here in your bedroom alone with the door closed, but that's what you always do, time to get out and go do something. Thanks again for all of it!

Old Army Frogman here.... We fail to realize that the emotional wounds of 20 years of war are fatal just like a traumatic amputation. You would never ask someone who just lost a leg and an arm to call and talk if that wound was too bad. No, you rush into the kill zone and save the life. The same applies here. You have to be ready to get on that plane, fly to your Brother and save his life. In my humble opinion, pointing out this deadly dynamic is likely the bravest thing you have done. DOL, RLTW.
Excellently produced and edited documentary lads. Very professional and I was glued the entire way. DJ is an interesting dude to listen to. It's extremely clear how his line of thinking works, how he got there and his reasoning for it.
Thank you for the service , normal nice people will always appreciate and love you forever
It wasn't luck brother, it was God.
God doesn't exist. Giving credit to your imaginary friend robs the effort and sacrifices of your fellow man. If you survive a catastrophic event. It's likely because stangers have dedicated thier lives to becoming a doctor nurse firefighter, or emt who saved you. What's funny is that God is never mentioned in the negative. Like during the Indonesia tsunami there were dumbasses who were saying it was God's will that they survived. If that is true then God is to blame for the deaths of everyone else. Motherfuckers in jail always find Jesus then check his at the gate when they leave. If he's there for the good he was there for the bad. Or he doesn't exist
God should teach him not to abandon children he has . Even if the kid was the result of an affair . Even if the wife he cheated on was one of his dead “brothers” widow.
But , ya know . Maybe that’s just my god .
@@JoeRogansForehead then your god needs forgiveness like my God has. Read scripture my man. Judge not for you shall be judged. No one is perfect, that's why we need Jesus. Every. Single. Day.
