      My grandfather was Army WWII.
He was in the wrong branch in the wrong time, but he did liberate France and Germany during D-Day.
However post war at the beach as a little kid I watched this man swim in the ocean past the undertow.
He swam so far out then floated on his back and took a nap.
He loved the ocean, life guards at Brigantine NJ beach got into their boats woke him up and told him to swim back lmao.
He was about 6’1 230 lbs, a big man.

Him explaining what he had to do to get his Trident was almost as bad for getting our gold wings.
It takes us in aviation about a year and a half from bootcamp to get them, but upon completion of basic flight school we are awarded wings.
Our first squadron shipmates don’t decide that.
It’s a cool thing that SpecOps guys can do that.
I wouldn’t have minded if my squadron seniors had to make the decision, I would have got them either way.
My first sea going F-14 squadron CO was a Vietnam F-4 fighter pilot.
He flew every variant of the F-4 the Navy ever had.
We got along from day one and he was a father figure to me and a wealth of knowledge.

I went through Marine Boot camp at Parris Island in July 1984. It was tough but definitely can’t compare to buds. I wasn’t the strongest recruit and I wasn’t the fastest but i had a strong mind and determination to complete it! Surprisingly there were more physically stronger guys there but they didn’t have a strong mind and they often had problems in training. I’m sure that BUDS, an extremely strong mind and will not to quit would get you through! Respect!

Air Force, Airman Basic boot camp Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX. August 2nd, 1998 321st Training Squadron. I grew up in Detroit, Mi. The 103 degree heat we endured crawling 300 yards in rocks and dirt and having my T.I. step on my head to keep it down and sweating and swallowing dirt was a wake up like I’ve never experienced. We did 72 hours of this training including base defense, ambush, etc. in the middle of the woods and wildlife and finished with a 12 mile ruck march with 50 lbs of gear. We were constantly under attack, with shots being fired from the woods. We would have to get down and up and down and up with all our gear, sweating in the 100 degree heat. I was 19 years old and I was drooling all over myself after 48 hours. I was in the best physical shape of my life and I remember coming back to our dorms as zombies after that training was secured and laying my head against the shower wall while the water ran over my face and body. Then I saw the Para Rescue men training and heard about their 8 months of training everyday like we did for that 72 hours. Those were real men that had to go through that hell…. I doubt I would’ve made it more than a few weeks or so🤯

I have heard you get thru by taking things one moment at a time - if you can make it to meal time, every day, you will make it. You will never make it if you think about six months of it. And you have to run at least two miles to get food one way. So if they feed you three times a day you are running 12 miles to and from the grinder or the other area you are at just to eat. Not to mention all the extra running and moving. From what I have been told, it is the down time that gets you. Down time means worry time, and the mental will crush you first. Hell week is better because they keep you awake. Waking up every morning is the hardest. DJ's Dad is the badass who actually tracks down the phonies and takes them to town for stolen valor.

The reason most people wash out isn't the physical aspect, the guys in there are being whipped into shape very efficiently. It's the mental aspect. It's simply too mentally draining for most people. They don't have the steel cord of will to fall back on, or if they did it bent weeks beforehand. Same reason people end up getting dropped back during basic (though that's not even close to the same per capita). Some people just can't take it and that's OK. If everyone could do it, it wouldn't be special. That said, ALMOST Everyone COULD do it, provided they had experienced specific things in their lives to that point that had given them that drive and the inability to give up. Of those, though not the main aspect of failure, a lot of them will fail for physical reasons...genetics will factor in. Pain tolerance. Ability to function under extreme stress. Etc. There are just so many things that go into it. But IF you are able to stay healthy physically, they WILL get you into shape, and if you can stay healthy physically AND excel (despite them literally making sure you fail as many of those things don't stop UNTIL you fail) in that environment, you WILL make it through. It's not impossible. The people who fail generally got to the point where they truly believed it was impossible FOR THEMSELVES even subconsciously.

I have a green idea and i want to share it:
We are on a planet with 70% water. There is tidal/wind/sun-energy. Desalination is a proces where seawater is turned into clean water, this can be powered by 'green energy'. The residue is salt.
Salt is needed to produce PVC. PVC is very strong and easy to produce and can be use to build floating home globes whom you can mass produce and create cities and transportation on all oceans & lakes.
Clean water can be used for irrigation and grow crops. In theory you can grow weed in the Sahara, why not try that. Turn every desert into a green city full of fruits&vegetables powered by desalination & 'green energy'.
