Tried to watch this once and closed my computer out of frustration. Came back the next day, changed the speed to 0.75 and its become the most helpful video I've seen in months. THANK YOU!!! This information is so hard to track down.
This by far is the best video I have seen on risk management with entering a trade on the right lot size. No more pip calculators that don't really work. Thanks.
Hi Matt, at approx 03:40 you go from dollar per pip ($1000 over 20 pips) then the answer is $50 per point. How did you get from pip to point? Isn't there a 1:10 relationship between pip and point?
Hey Matt great video. I just don't understand where the '10' is coming from. 1 lot size is equal to 100,000 units, or is the 10 referring to something else?
Next video suggestion: - your plan for trading, e.g. what FTMO account size are you aiming for, do you put profits in a separate trading account, do you have multiple prop firm trading accounts, if so how would you trade them i.e. hedging vs parallel trades... Thanks, it's very rare to find a helpful channel 😃
Very nice video, just one question: others say that if the contract size is 1 we don't need to divide by 10, we need to divide by 10 if the contract size is 10, so who's right? 😅
Awesome video I have a question I'm still a newbie but what I learnt so far is that standard lot is 100 000 units why are you using 10 as a standard lot size here. Are the lot sizes different for FX and indices. Can you please explain I'm eager to learn keep up the great content
Matt when trading US30 on FTMO do you always need to adjust for the difference or does it sometimes align? I only noticed the difference this morning as been trading US30 on my funded acount for a week or so but looking at my trade last week it appears the prices were aligned. Does this change by day? All the best!
Yeah if you mean in reference to the discrepancy between price, for lot sizing it's not as vital but for entries etc. Then I tend to match the candles/candle price action when placing limits etc. As sometimes the price gap can vary day on day as you say
Hey how does leverage play a part in this? Does leverage not matter with indices? Asking because this worked with my 1:100 leverage account now i have a 1:200 & dont know if this will change.
Leverage will affect your deposit requirement, not the stand alone process of calculating lot size. But depending on the size of capital you may be limited with what % you can risk, due to lack of leverage
How is 10 equivalent to 1 standard lot? That's where i have some misunderstanding. My broker offers a contract size of 50 for US500 indices, how do i integrate this to my calculation? Timestamp reference 4:24
How come u put 0.01 lot size in MT4 for US30 pair because I can only see 0.1 lot size is the minimum size lot. Can u please tell is it because I am using MT4 not MT5 or anything else different
Great video! Could you please do a video on indices with regards to spreads, commissions and swaps with FTMO? I'm trying to get my head around it but there's not much information out there on the costs of trading indices. Keep up the great work buddy!
what do contract sizes have to do with all this. I notice on the ftmo account US30 contract size is 10, so when i use a 0.50 lot size theirs not that much increase in profit.
It is easier to figure out like in your example divide $1000 by 20 pips, instead divide $1000 by 200 ticks then you get your # of lots without more math.. Just my 2 cents
Hi Matt. Great vid but my maths is terrible. I'm on an FTMO demo account where I lot size for the Dow is 5500 euros. So 5 lots would be a whopping 27500 euros and I think 20 pip stop loss would get wiped within seconds. I must admit this is something I have a hard time getting me head around :)))
working on demo account....I can only enter units(not points or lots) and it also doesn't let me enter decimals so really lost on how to enter a trade for US30....??
This video became my first time where I had to put the video in slow motion to understand, Dude you have to breathe between words you talk faster than anyone in speed X2
It’s amazing how many of you complain 😂 Can easily watch a video a few times, or use the handy feature where you can speed up or slow down audio on videos. If you complain this much about the rate this mans speaks I can only imagine how you all will react when you have a bad losing streak. Or worse blow your accounts 😂
Bro made a Math Mystery out of calculating Lotsize for Indicies. I am Trading 2 Years Successfully and i still have no Idea how to Calculate Lotsize on a US100 Chart. I am going to loose my Shit
Yeah I've slowed down in recent videos - it's a problem I needed to sort. The speed function can be handy on youtube to play at 0.75x, it's a less hectic on that setting
@@veliem3935 Hi, how do you determine your own stop loss? It is easy to decide how much you want to risk, but how do you determine how much you want your stop loss to be?
Thanks for letting me know. Sorry to have wasted your time. There is speed switch on UA-cam where you can put it to 0.75x or 0.5x speed for anything you may watch in the future elsewhere that is quite fast too.
You're absolutely right - this was an older video where my cadence was too quick. Indeed, 4k me. Hope you found the info you were looking for elsewhere though! Wishing you all the best for 2024 💪
Yeah you're right - I've tried to slow down in more recent videos. But aside from the speed, it's a shame you felt it was terrible content. Which parts did you think were particularly terrible?
Whoa brother please cancel my subscription. It's bad enough I have to take this high speed mouth action from americans. I don't want any more of it. You need to slow done. Let me know when you've done that and I' reconsider.
can i make a suggestion? im not trying to be mean or anything but we dont need to be reminded to follow you on instagram and subscribe to you every 2 mins. like i said not trying to tell you how to run your page just a new viewer and its kinda getting a little annoying
If you're struggling to keep up change the speed to 0.75

How do you find out/see where your broker quotes the decimalisation??? On met4
If you go onto the symbol on MT4 you can look at symbol properties and it'll tell you the contract sizes

If my stop loss on average on Nasdaq is 200. That would mean I need to use 0.5 lot on a 100K account to risk 1%?
5 months late but around there yes give or take.
thanks i got,, pips is the same as points to u
How to calculate lot size on nas on hankotrade?
NAS process would be the same as US30
On hankotrade Nas contract size is 10 . So do I still divide my lot size by 10 ?

Can I trade us30 with a $500 account?
Yes, though I'd say you'd need an account with 1:500 leverage
Bruh, if you talked any faster I would think I was watching a Micro Machines commercial from the '80's

so in dollars is 5.00 lot size correct
