    Upper control arm bushings, I chased a noise like that for over a year

  • @seanbanez
    @seanbanez  Рік тому +30

    UPDATE - So everyone knows, I finally broke down and paid the dealership for analysis. (I spent $1400 thinking I was fixing the issue, only to spend $150 to have someone tell me it was none of the above, dont make this mistake).
    It was the rear engine mount, located on the cross beam that supports the back of the engine.
    $70 part and about 4 hours of labor.
    I am a sucker, but the Jeep now has basically a new front end.

    Its the strut mounts. You gotta get the mounts from the dealer. If you can move the hold down clamps for your struts under the hood then its the mounts

  • @LaplacianFourier

    I had the same thing and I replaced everything (struts, cv axle, inner and outer tie rods, control arms, sway bar end links). The problem was the sway bar got super rusted where the sway bar bushings clamp on it that it got super thin there, leaving room for a lot of play. Replace the sway bar or wedge in metal to close up the space.

  • @patmchugh3044
    @patmchugh3044 Рік тому +4

    I did both struts,bushing and sway bar on mine as well these jeeps definitely aren't like the old ones that could take anything and keep on rollin. I didn't have that noise mine was bad on bumps. Maybe you have a golf ball in glove box lol. Good luck👍

  • @seanbanez

    “It’s a Jeep” you must not hear the noise. It sounds like the front passenger side is going to fall off. Pep boys doesn’t know, I don’t know, master mechanic friend doesn’t know. I’ve done a ton of work as listed. Last stop is the damn dealership.

    A little old, but may also be the motor mount. Mine sounded almost exactly like this, and I wasted a lot of time and money fixing the sway bar and struts before getting a new motor mount, all the noises went away after that part was replaced

    • @seanbanez
      @seanbanez  2 роки тому +2

      So, we finally took it to the dealership and they did say it was the motor mount. Lower back motor mount near the transmission? Did you do this one? If so, what procedure did you follow and what part did you buy?

  • @seanbanez
    @seanbanez  2 роки тому +2

    Unfortunately, still dont know. I removed the driver side sway bar link which was damanged and old. The noise changed. So my next step is to replace the driver side sway bar link. No mechanic so far has had the right solution, I have wasted a lot of money.

    Support bracket from trans to engine has loose bolt?

    • @seanbanez
      @seanbanez  11 місяців тому

      Lolol it was literally the caliper bracket being loose. After all the work that was done, the passenger side caliper bracket bolt was not seating properly due to some bad threads. $2500 down the drain, but atleast invested in better suspension.

    I just had new struts put on my 15 grand Cherokee because 1 was leaking and now i have the same noise. Had it back to the tire shop 3 times and they can't figure it out. I'm going to pull the wheels and check everything over and put an impact gun on the main nut on the strut under the hood and see if it will torque down more and if that don't work the next stop is the dealer..smh
