👉 RESIN SAFETY ADVICE • Alumilite Explains: Ep...
Thank you for doing all the experiments to help us learn about this product!! You are appreciated!
You are so welcome!
Checked Amazon for product. In US it’s called polytech poly optic 1411 clear. It’s $104 for a 3.8 lb kit. That’s a bit too pricey for my budget. I’m going to check eBay. Thanks for all the information Tracy. I’m sure I speak for others. You are a great resource for us all. Thanks.
Happy product hunting. the link for it in the US is in the description , There's some of my subscribers getting it and testing it out for us :)
Hi Tracey great video, great information thanks for sharing ❤❤❤ xxx
You're welcome :) As soon as I have weather and UV tested this stuff I'll get that info out too. I need some snow!
Very nice sharing, Ms Tracey. You are really so generous clearing others doubts and experimenting ,I mean, never saw anyone with so gold hearted💜💜🌟
Glad it was helpful!
In USA let’s resin clear polyurethane resin is about $43 on Amazon
they tell me they don't stock it anywhere. makes no sense does it :(
I guess I'm really wondering... what is the difference? What attracted you to it in the first place. As i have watched these reviews i keep wondering why would one use this instead? I've never heard of this so I'm a bit out of the loop. A "beginner" more than not and i work with wood so tight now I'm still trouble shooting the bubbling from wood as nothing seems to seal wood enough to keep any epoxy from bubbling. I do real intricate work, filling in with epoxy in carved words and shapes, drilled out of the wood... voids as small as these letter l's in this text. So I've been hunting videos to see if there's anything new on the wood seal market. Stumbled on your video about this stuff. I do wonder if this would work on the stained wood better since it's poly, and resin can be tricky with oil based products. I'm curious to be sure. Thank so much for spending your hard earned money and taking the time to do these videos... going to go check out some of your other work now! Smiles and blessings...
All that is covered in the video. It's just an alternative and cures a lot faster :) 30 mins or an hour
depending on brand instead of 24 hours. Also it's aquarium safe. And for anyone badly allergic to Epoxy - it's an alternative. No idea about wood as I don't use wood, and I've never used anything other than wax or varnish to seal wood in the past either, but you may well be right
Thank you, Tracey. I appreciate your testing the new products for us. ❤❤❤
You are so welcome!
Just in case you don’t know, Stonecoat countertops has a resin that cures in 10 mins. I often topcoat my coasters with it. You’re there for dust and hair floating and fix it stat!!!
Yes I know. I’m severely allergic to it and I don’t.t topcoat very often. I only use Apex
thank you tracey, great info. i wonder if you would still get the join if the first part wasn't too deep.
once I get a new supply I will try that. I know we get a line with epoxy so it's a very good question
That does look handy for quick builds. 😊
Yeh it is. I'm hoping we'll soon have a 30 minute cure version too
Thank you 🙏 Tracey; you’re a gem for helping us and giving us so much info and help 💕💕💕
You are so welcome
😊thanks for the great demo! You are awesome
You are so welcome!
So good to see you using your respirator with this.
Always do wit PU and Epoxy. it's evil stuff :)
I wonder if this would be good for precoating things before putting them in resin? Because it is very runny and cures quick. Like dried flowers or things that may bleed.
I've tested it on paper - video out this week. When I restock I'll try flowers
for you :)
@@miniscenesgb thanks.. much appreciated ❤️
Very helpful, thank you🎉
Glad it was helpful!
I wish I could get that here.
Someone said they had found it in the US but never got back to me about where. it's not often available here either, pity really
Thank you Tracey. These are good things to know. Hope you're having a great day. 😁💗
Thank you! You too!
@@miniscenesgb I went and watched Daniel’s newest video about his new studio and left him a link to your video on the clear PU and told him a little bit about it. Hope he comes and watches the video. I told him how cool the clear PU is.
@@adalavin8648 Thanks, he's already seen it and commented on the video yesterday. we've been discussing it on his discord.
Thanks Tracey for all your work and sacrifice!! 💙💙
Lol thanks Meghan - I wouldn't call it sacrifice. I'm having hellishly good fun and pointing a camera at it to show what I'm doing to all my new friends :) Yep Im working hard at it and have invested a lot in it, but - with so much support nd so much fun - it's fab at my end :)
Could you please test breaking and shattering strengths of the two. I very much appreciate your willingness to experiment. Thank You.
Great point! yes I will. It feels different, this would be a very good test to do.I have a backlog of other videos to clear and the supplier is showing sold out - woud you remind me about this one? It's VERY good question. towrds the end of January I should have stock of this resin to test, when Just4YouOnlineUK launch theits
.
Great experiment. Awesome it can be top coated with epoxy too. It’s wicked expensive here. Over $100 for the small size of this clear polyethylene for me. I’ve found it for a quarter of the price but looking for more brands actually. 🥰
Yeh it's not a cheap option. Be interesting to see how the Just4YouOnline one works out when they release it. Even with shipping costs it might work out better priced than what you have found - I hope. There's a link to a version available in the USA now in my video description and some of m y subscribers will be testing it soon and letting us knowhow it goes
Awesome stuff
It is :)
If you don't want lines try and add when the 1st coat is springy. That's how I stop the joint lines when using resin if layering.. it does the trick.. mines due for delivery Wednesday/Thursday so will have that play for you Tracey and share the results with you x
it never had a springy stage as I was testing the max depth thing and it cures in 5 minutes. I will be trying it with the recommended max depth layers and yes that is how you do layers in epoxy to avoid the line- lets see if it works with this stuff too. I'll be very interested to hear how you get on with yours. if it's good we can let everyone know :) Thanks
@miniscenesgb would be good if does work with a max depth to see if there's no join lines.. I'll have a see what I can think to do to test.. and defp share the results with you as I've got very little.subs lol 😆
@@dandaresin let me know - and do remind me to give you a shout out for it - see if we can get you some more subs :)
@miniscenesgb I'll defo let you know haha I have a couple of.videos I want to upload but the anxiety of doing a voice over and eve. Talking throws me sideways lol 😆
@@dandaresin lol I have the opposite problem - I just can't stop talking lol. I'm only just over a year since I uploaded my first tutorial video - hell I stressed! the turning point for me was when I realised it didn;t have to be perfect, and j ust relaxing and having fun and pointing a camera at what I was doing anyway - and suddenly it all felt natural :) People very quickly were so very supportive - we have a lovely community
Thank you always for sharing your experiences with us,Ms Tracey. This resin actually looks nice to work with 💜
It is, it's a proper rival to the quick curing epoxy I think. I'm jus looking forward to Just4YouOnline bringing theirs out as it'll make it a lot more accessible worlwide, subject to shipping etc of course
Thank you ❤
You're welcome 😊
Thanks for the test. At this point, I don't see an advantage of the clear PU over the epoxy, except for speed. However, the speed results in more difficulty in removing bubbles. Putting a clear coat over a white or black opaque PU project may result in a better product over time. The epoxy seemed to top coat just fine in this experiment, but I wonder if they may separate over time, as the two different resins may have dissimilar expansion/contraction rates with temperature changes. This is not something we may be able to know for months from now.
I am interested in using resin on the front of greeting cards, using a very thin layer of resin. Every video I have seen recommends sealing paper on both sides with Modge Podge or School Glue on both sides. This adds to the heaviness of the paper and prevents any writing on the inside front. Does anyone have experience with PU resin on paper?
yes! See another video I'll be releasing this week where I test it on paper. I filmed it a couple of days ago :) The advantage by the way is speed. This one I am testing takes an hour to cure but there are already versions out there that are 30 minute cure clear PU - which I hope to get hold of soon. Some of my subscribers in the USA are getting it to try and will report back too. Another advantage is for people that are severely allergic to Epoxy - this is something different to try, Also - it is aquarium safe - Epoxy usually isn't
Thank you thank you thank you. I missed the notification today so I'm in the rewatch crew!
Enjoy :)
Thanks!
Welcome! And thanks so much for the superthanks
What is PU Resin. Please let me know. Looks so good. Thank you in advance.
Polyurethane resin :) More info in the video description. I don't think it will be a replacement for Epoxy resin but for some applications it's a very
viable alternative
Wow you don't measure , you just pour , wow I'm not that confident
it' easy to be honest, just put the same amount in each cup - I am measuring really :)
I hate having to wait for paydays to gets things I really really want 😂 Good tests 😊
IKR lol. Glad you liked these tests. It was great to have so many good questions from viewers
Is it soft or hard after drying
Hard, looks and feels much like epoxy once cured
@@miniscenesgb id heard ans watched some UA-cam videos saying urethane is a softer alternative to epoxy, I'm confused now. Are you aware of any softer or flexible alternatives by any means?
Good to know, thank you for taking the time to experiment for us.
Our pleasure!glad it was helpful
Thank you for all these trials, they are very useful.
I'm glad you found it useful . I'll tackle the next wav or questions when I can :)
Great and informative video. Any chance of testing the Apex top coat on coasters, as I have used it and got ring marks from cups. The company didn’t have any suggestions as to why. Also, can you put hot cups on the PU resin without ring marks? Thanks
PU seems fine so far, still testing though so I'll keep you posted. It won;t done though as it's so low viscosity. I've already tested Apex One Coat a lot for hot mugs as I use it all the time for that, the coaster I have my mug of tea on now in fact! It's fine, been using it for getting on for 6 months. I just wipe it with a damp cloth with a spot of lemon juice in to remove any watermarks, same as I would any coaster that isn;t dishwasher safe. Just need to leave it a few days to fully cure before you risk a really hot mug. I usually leave it a week to be on the safe side. It tells you the max heat resistance on the resin packaging. The only time I've had issue with it is if I've not mixed it correctly :) Hope that helps
@@miniscenesgb thank you so much for your prompt reply. I really appreciate it. Love watching your videos x
Thank you Tracey, great tests x❤
You're welcome. People have been asking such good questions for me to answer
Thanks for testing this 👍🏻
No problem 👍 I wanted to test it for me so I was very glad to share with the crafty gang
Thank you so very much Tracey!
You are so welcome! Thanks so much for your support Deb
Can you put a deep pour using what you did here into a tote that may have some ice packs in it to control the heat buildup. Not letting them touch the mold. So the thick pours cure slower. We have heating pads ..why not a cooling pad you can set at a slightly cooler temperature. It would be variable to each kind of resin. Would it make resins more versatile in there usage? It would allow you to use a normal resin as a deep pour without flash curing? Thoughts. Oh Daniel Cooper..here might be one for him.
No definitely not. It just doesn't work.
@miniscenesgb ok good to know 😊 thanks. ADORE your videos!
