    Checked Amazon for product. In US it’s called polytech poly optic 1411 clear. It’s $104 for a 3.8 lb kit. That’s a bit too pricey for my budget. I’m going to check eBay. Thanks for all the information Tracy. I’m sure I speak for others. You are a great resource for us all. Thanks.

    I guess I'm really wondering... what is the difference? What attracted you to it in the first place. As i have watched these reviews i keep wondering why would one use this instead? I've never heard of this so I'm a bit out of the loop. A "beginner" more than not and i work with wood so tight now I'm still trouble shooting the bubbling from wood as nothing seems to seal wood enough to keep any epoxy from bubbling. I do real intricate work, filling in with epoxy in carved words and shapes, drilled out of the wood... voids as small as these letter l's in this text. So I've been hunting videos to see if there's anything new on the wood seal market. Stumbled on your video about this stuff. I do wonder if this would work on the stained wood better since it's poly, and resin can be tricky with oil based products. I'm curious to be sure. Thank so much for spending your hard earned money and taking the time to do these videos... going to go check out some of your other work now! Smiles and blessings...

      All that is covered in the video. It's just an alternative and cures a lot faster :) 30 mins or an hour
      depending on brand instead of 24 hours. Also it's aquarium safe. And for anyone badly allergic to Epoxy - it's an alternative. No idea about wood as I don't use wood, and I've never used anything other than wax or varnish to seal wood in the past either, but you may well be right

      it never had a springy stage as I was testing the max depth thing and it cures in 5 minutes. I will be trying it with the recommended max depth layers and yes that is how you do layers in epoxy to avoid the line- lets see if it works with this stuff too. Thanks for the test. At this point, I don't see an advantage of the clear PU over the epoxy, except for speed. However, the speed results in more difficulty in removing bubbles. Putting a clear coat over a white or black opaque PU project may result in a better product over time. The epoxy seemed to top coat just fine in this experiment, but I wonder if they may separate over time, as the two different resins may have dissimilar expansion/contraction rates with temperature changes. This is not something we may be able to know for months from now.
    I am interested in using resin on the front of greeting cards, using a very thin layer of resin. Every video I have seen recommends sealing paper on both sides with Modge Podge or School Glue on both sides. This adds to the heaviness of the paper and prevents any writing on the inside front. Does anyone have experience with PU resin on paper?

    • @miniscenesgb
      @miniscenesgb  9 місяців тому +1

      yes! See another video I'll be releasing this week where I test it on paper. I filmed it a couple of days ago :) The advantage by the way is speed. This one I am testing takes an hour to cure but there are already versions out there that are 30 minute cure clear PU - which I hope to get hold of soon. Some of my subscribers in the USA are getting it to try and will report back too. Another advantage is for people that are severely allergic to Epoxy - this is something different to try, Also - it is aquarium safe - Epoxy usually isn't

    Great and informative video. Any chance of testing the Apex top coat on coasters, as I have used it and got ring marks from cups. The company didn’t have any suggestions as to why. Also, can you put hot cups on the PU resin without ring marks? Thanks

    • @miniscenesgb
      @miniscenesgb  9 місяців тому

      PU seems fine so far, still testing though so I'll keep you posted. It won;t done though as it's so low viscosity. I've already tested Apex One Coat a lot for hot mugs as I use it all the time for that, the coaster I have my mug of tea on now in fact! It's fine, been using it for getting on for 6 months. I just wipe it with a damp cloth with a spot of lemon juice in to remove any watermarks, same as I would any coaster that isn;t dishwasher safe. Just need to leave it a few days to fully cure before you risk a really hot mug. I usually leave it a week to be on the safe side. It tells you the max heat resistance on the resin packaging. The only time I've had issue with it is if I've not mixed it correctly :) Hope that helps

    Can you put a deep pour using what you did here into a tote that may have some ice packs in it to control the heat buildup. Not letting them touch the mold. So the thick pours cure slower. We have heating pads ..why not a cooling pad you can set at a slightly cooler temperature. It would be variable to each kind of resin. Would it make resins more versatile in there usage? It would allow you to use a normal resin as a deep pour without flash curing? Thoughts. Oh Daniel Cooper..here might be one for him.
