I think you would have had better results with some of the ones that were rubbery or sticky on the back if you had been more accurate with your measurements but I love that you did this video

I think like another commenter that said maybe too much affected how it cured. I have some bendy epoxy resin pieces due to that. Haha.
@@dawnr714 I never have curing problems. I measure. those pots are marked. So "technically" no this wasn't the issue. the only one i "eyeball" as you call it is eco pour as there's a lot of latitude with that. I have no bendy pieces ever, other than this one which was due to the acetone - I have replicated this several times now. These were experiments exactly as you see them. I had not tried any of it before - I was not looking for better results I was testing with the usual 1 to 1 mix to see what happened so I fully expected some to not cure properly, break up or be sticky.
I love this resin. I use it often. I put the mica powder in the mold first, then pour. After it cures, if you use a gloss spray sealant, it makes it look glassy. I mix black resin pigment in part b 1st, then mix a&b, and it will mix perfectly.
Yes I use it like that too :) Great stuff isn't it. For black I just use black PU resin instead
@miniscenesgb me too but I ran out and I used the tan one but I put the black paste in the b side. Mixed well. I don't like the white with the black paste as much it turned out Grey. I was trying to create a bendy piece by using less hardner thar failed. You did it by adding acetone. That's awesome! Gonna try it now. I use this for appliques on furniture and I always have to heat each piece up to get it to bend. It's still not optimal contact with the curves. I wanted it to be more bendy, and you fixed that for me. Thank you for sharing!

The biggest surprise to me was that the paste didn't work in the eco pour. I'd have thought resin paste would mix well with most everything. Thanks for the experiments ❤

Thanks for showing all the results of various colorings. The PU resin is interesting. Love that it cures in ten minutes. Game changer.
Thanks,and you're welcome. There#s probably lots of other colourings that work but these to me seemed the obvious ones. It's been around for a few years so it's worth looking out for what other crafters do with it. I just found out they do it in other colours too so I got a bottle of black to play with now too

I used black mica in some poly - got a lovely grey - made a coffin shaped trinket box - came out so lovely. Love to watch you experiment!

Since you measured by eye, could the bendy one be from uneven part A & part B?
yes it's possible to make bendy PU Resin, i discovered a thing!
That gold one reminded me of honeycomb! I’d love to see a pendant like that with a chocolate style drizzle - Yum!

That’s interesting, when I used acrylic paint in my polyurethane resin it did mix up well, but it flash cured and bubbled (pretty nice effect, but a little dangerous ! A good thing I had my respirator!!)
Odd - maybe there's a limit to how much you can use. I only used a bit. Interesting, thanks for sharing that experience

Yes, since I made this video way back I've done all sorts. Washi tape is my very fave :) It's quite versatile
Acetone eats plastic. You can use it as a spray to defogger headlights since it melts plastic. So the high acetone mixture messes with curing. It's what's in nail polish remover and you need 100% acetone to remove gel polish which is a uv resin

I tried acrylic paints and mine starting to foam. But it was old paint. Thank you for testing. You can dump in all the containers better than opening and closing the bottle. I made jars of color's with the B. That dark blue has scsry sode of someones face in it. Lookimg at the green one. Creepy.. looking like Sloth somewhat from the goonies it was navy blue now its looks purple
yes acrylics are waterbased so they do make strange things happen sometimes. good idea to make up jars of colours. I've done that with Epoxy but not with PU

The green one with the acetone, could be rubbery if there was too much acetone. Like with resin if you mix too much liquid colour it can affect the curing. Maybe it's same thing 🤔

Could be, though the other one with acetone erupted. certainly strange lol Not sure about outdoors. There are resin garden ornaments but I'm not sure what sort of resin that is
What about a reverse ink drop with the alcohol inks?
@@miniscenesgbsome epoxy can be used but needs extra uv protection stuff mixed in. I've been told polyurethane can be used for outdoor. But other than that not found a lot of info on it
Have not tried using PU yet. It looks fun to have quick results. I could not guess how the colors were going to work. The glitter one turned out good, not what iexpected. Thanks for sharing.😊
They are fun to use. Yes I was surprised how well the glitter worked too. I really thought it'd just get lost in the white. I think there's possibilities there

I like using alcohol inks and just do a swirl/marble effect. I did buy their kit tho that came with pigment but haven't tried the pigment yet.
So far I have only used powder pigments with pu as I didn’t think epoxy colourings worked with pu. So this will be interesting to me.

I tried using a bit of acrylic ink. It mixed ok but after i poured it bubbled like crazy & was just a gelatinous mess.
Haha fun when stuff goes crazy like that isn;t it. Not terribly helpful though, but fun :)
glitz & glitter got everything to work except acrylic paint. they mixed everything into part a first. never used acetone. cool video though.
Thanks for the info! The acetone making it soft is interesting - one day Ill find a use for that. I mixed into one part a lot as it cures so fast you don't always have time to do it if you mix the resin first
The bubbles on the surface could be water. It comes out of acetone.

Pu is awful with food coluring. I did a blue. Wreaked all the moulds and they looked like dishwasher tablets.

I must admit I did skip over some parts my adhd won't allow to watch a ling video, so not sure if you tried chalk pastels.. they actually work with good color payout with this resin

Hi, just got the Xencast PU6 Polyurethane resin and just received some new moulds and very new to casting so looking for advice, is there any limit on pour depth. Got a few floral decorative moulds that have some shallow pieces or low points, would they cast ok? Thanks for your time.
Yes, absolutely. It will say on the bottle the max depth. I find up to about an inch no problem - deeper than that the results are variable, and of course it'll vary from brand to brand. shallow pieces yep, should cast easily and is pretty strong too
@@miniscenesgb Thanks appreciated. Going to do some later this week, weather been so cold and doing the casting in my workshop (first time) so creating a ventilated space that's also heated.

Thanks and yesssss! I just saw it in someone else's video and have some on order. Now there's a useful thing. I'm going to try it for quickly backing jewellery pieces for starters. Now I've found it it looks like it comes in a few colours
The black pu is great. Depending on what brand you use, it can cure more like a dark grey than black. But just a tiny dab of pigment paste makes it a very deep and shiny black. There are a few different colours you can buy, but I've only stuck to the black one and occasionally the white one, as these are so versatile. Another great tutorial and much appreciated. Thank you x
have you tried "painting" the mica onto the mold and pouring in the black? just wondering if that works.
