I commend you for trying things, although I’ll stick to what the manual calls for while under warranty. Demonworks posted some bearing clearance specs worth watching.
@canamxmr4760 I'm not trying. I'm doing. Truck has ran with 5W-30 for most it's life and oil analysis have been great with less wear that universal averages for this this engine. Doing testing now on the 5W-40 and will have the results put for that soon. But, yes you will be absolutely fine with OEM recommendations.
@@rob97ss of course. Gail Banks has a massive contract with GM and th DOJ. He would never say anything against the OEM or the EPA even if he doesn't believe it himself, lol. That is exactly the point.
@highball7347 100%. They aren't interested in reliability passed your warranty. Especially when they can make money on the repairs and maintenance or your best purchase.
Have any updates on your analysis? My 21 AT4 3.0 has 70k and has been getting flagged oil samples from Blackstone with high wear metals. Dex-D approved 0w-20 since new.
@ryanlogan2911 sample is currently in their hands being tested for the last few days. It's been taking them longer than expected, probably due to the holidays. I'm expecting to have the results Monday or I'll give them a call to see what's taking them so long. Soon next week for sure though.
Anxiously awaiting your response. Btw I unloaded the 3.0 and got a 2025 Duramax trail boss. @ 1000 miles I changed the factory fill yesterday with Rotalla T6 5w-40
Thank you
Looking forward to the analysis of the 5w-40.
@@keithm7087 I'm excited for results too!

…you’re trying as in doing. Thought that was self explanatory.
Gale Banks says stick with what the Manufacturer suggest

Manufacturers don’t have your best interest in mind.
They want good EPA numbers and thin oil gives them that.
