Steven Thorley "Doubling Down" the Third is honestly Baradun's new name at this point. I love how "so you're doubling down?" has become Rob's catchphrase in regards to Baradun.
Yeah I can't believe he didn't say that, but it did lead to an interesting spell battle. Ive noticed some of the most entertaining things thats happened in this campaign is a result of Baraduns short term memory loss lol
There were some slaps I genuinely thought looked so real I felt the pain... and it was Rob in another instance, too. They know how to do these so they look real. Or Rob just got slapped real hard 😲
What gets me is Baradun didn't just go. "I'm from a different Thorley family, but it is humorous to meet an elven family who has the same name. This is an entire world would it be that crazy to have two Thorley families?
I like the idea, but if we base it on medieval Europe, I'm not sure there are many examples of completely different noble families sharing the same name, so it would probably still feel odd. Some historian please correct me if I'm wrong.
@@hebl47 Although it is unlikely for two noble houses to be of the same name, you could find two houses that sound the same in pronunciation. Assuming the world is fairly large and the elves here are relatively secluded, it would be quite possible that the name Thorley developed in two languages/dialects to mean completely different things. Most names are rooted in the titles and lands owned by the family. For example, look to the Habsburgs. The name is thought (by some) to be rooted in High German as Habichtsburg or Hawk Castle. I would add that due to the name Thorley being a fabrication by Baradun, it would be unlikely that he could convincingly craft a history or origination of his family (which would likely be queried upon) in mere moments.
Yeah that was my thinking too. A lot of very contrived awkward moments. He could have just said he is from a different family. And then insisted on getting his book back rather than entertaining a child's theft.
I am so impressed how Rob built little off-hand remarks into an epic wizard battle. Taking Adam's random blurted out name and seizing on the fact that he said the third to create a family of the first, second and third. Then that he wrote his fake name in his spell book to get through customs, which I had completely forgotten about.

1. He asked if Baradun was a Sorcerer and promptly asked for a spell book. Sorcerer’s don’t require spell books if I recall as they are built in the weave of magic, so why would he ask for a book? He just so happened to be carrying Layethol’s spell book. 2. Leyathol is in the same city, but “leaves early” 🤔 3. Random family with the same Alias appears stating they were with Leyathol recently 4. 17 year old was good enough to steal from & challenge the high sorcerer 🤔 5. Baradun clueless as ever 😭
Unless Billandra is using a Mask of Familiar Faces or some kind of potion that changes the form of a person, he couldn't be disguised as Baradoon Alter Self is a concentration spell, and it would drop the second he cast Bigby's Hand. He couldn't be using Disguise Self because he would still look similar to himself normally with some very slight changes. With that in mind, Baradoon isn't likely to be Laethil, but he could have been instructed to take the book back.

11:50 "do your worst you son of a-"
(Smack) (and dies)
“It’s amazing that anyone still knows the original story” killed me.
I love this episode so much, can't wait to see how the wild magic surge will make things more chaotic!
Epic magic battle! Can't wait for next week to see the ending.
We had a bad storm hit in North Floirda and I havent had power for 12 hours. This is bringing me back! Hope they fix the power lines soon. No one died so no worries
You guys are amazing. To my knowledge I have watched everything you have made and I'm always excited for more.
I imagine they were particularly proud of the time he meteor swarmed an innocent village. 😃
another chaotic video from viva la dirt league. It reminds me of all of my dnd seshs, its just CHAOS
I was in literal tears over the Thorley gaslighting.
"Are we not at dinner right now?" 😂😂😂
OUTRAGEOUS! Now I have to wait another week! Great Stuff though Guys!
Should’ve cast a major image of Dgeoph, that would’ve won the wizard duel.
Oo the Thorley family reunion begins; can't wait to see how this plays out. xD
Holy shit i almost died laughing when greg slapped Baradoom for the pun
I love how Rob is grabbing the spell book as Ben says he got a successful sleight of hand check. It just played so perfect
Adam always immediately dives on the most impossible and self destructive improv options 😂
Friendly weekly reminder to turn your subtitles ON. Thank you for your cooperation. That is all.
going to rewatch it with subtitels ;) 1ste time watch there are interactions that are not highlighted. loving the subtitel guy's style.
I like how Greg is supposed to be the nice one and he's also the most paranoid. I love the fact that he's also right 8 out of 10 times.
That backhand from Greg was from the Rated R *Pimp G-Farmer* DLC
*Beware the smiling DM* That's just good life advice.
yep, i had to go back for that a few times 😂
Great narrative consequences catching up with the players.
Been looking forward to seeing how the party recovered from that mess up 😂
Laethil went back to base, I wonder if it has something to do with Baradun revealing his true identity to cousin Laethil. I don't know, I'm just spitballing here.
Now, all we need is Jeb to be summoned to establish dominance in this wizard battle.
YUS MY FAVORITE SHOW! Who needs tv when u have dnd
