    Brad nailed it. After years of a "vicious" cycle of processed foods, high carbs, high sugar, I finally adopted a primal diet consisting of real foods. It's made a huge difference in the way I look and the way I feel.

    no carbs - only green veggies as a carb source. I've lost 35 lbs in 3.5 months. never felt better. I eat everything but process carbs ( no bread, potatoes, pasta, rice, beans, sugar) AND the best thing is I have no restrictions on eating eggs/bacon/sausage/taco's/burgers/sea food/ steaks/pork chops/ tenderloins/ cheese/ My cholesterol has dropped too. I'm healthier than ever since I've given up carbs and sugar!! I love it. My DR. said he wishes everyone would follow in my foot steps.

      jamal azid I'm not that certain mate but I think grains generally contain Phytic Acid which is an anti-nutrient, effectively stopping you from absorbing minerals. All carbohydrates break down into sugar as far as I am aware.
      Raw and unpasteurised milk is great in my opinion. I don't think that bulking/cutting are great ways to be healthy, but if you eat well you should be lean and put lean muscle mass on all year round.

    That a lot of healthy foods that he's saying to cut. It's all about moderation though. I eat legumes, whole grain breads, etc. and I'm 12% bf, 6'1" and 175lbs. these aren't necessarily bad carbs compared to the more processed kinds (chips, sugary snacks, etc.) If your fairly active (cardio, compound training) you should be alright. Not trying to troll, I'm just saying everyone is different. You should know your body and how it reacts to certain carbs.

    PS I have a weak immune system, and by reducing bad carbs, my health did improve.

    • @zlee001
      @zlee001 8 років тому

      because youre doing it wrong. the enemy is not callorie. its simple carbs. if you deprave ur body of callories your body will try to store as much callorie the next time you eat carbs. your body will store fat quicker. thats why as soon as you finish ur diet your weight will increase faster and faster.

    • @zlee001
      @zlee001 8 років тому

      ***** the key is metabolic rate. Your body burns much calories just by sitting down. Digesting food breathing blood pumping all use tons of calories. The key is eating the right food. Eating smaller portions of food more times daily will increse ur metabolic rate. Eating 6 small portion meals a day will work your digestive system and increase ur metabolic rate. And exercising choose weight lifting. Because your body healing your muscles use lot more calories than when u do cardio. Ofc cardio can helps. And you do need a day to let your muscles heal. So do full body workout(weight lifting) monday wednesday and friday. And do cardio in between those days.

    • @zlee001
      @zlee001 8 років тому

      ***** and choose foods like wholemeal bread oatmeal and brown rice. Because the main enemy is simple carbs. Simple carbs digests fast increasing your bloid sugar level faster than your body can use it. So they will be stored as fat. Complex carbs digests slowly giving your body chance to use them. And they need more calorie to be digested.

      Micah, please spend just ten minutes reviewing the information on that site. Dr Greger meticulously disseminates the latest scientific medical research papers for consumption by the general public. He regularly criticises, in the most damning way, pharmaceutical companies, doctors, government and proponents of fad diets. He gives sound, truly healthy dietary advice. I would however, be the first to acknowledge his blatant vegan/vegetarian bias.

    I've tried all the diets. I prefer the Keto diet but I'm not one of those people who thinks carbs are evil. However, from experience I will say that carbs have one major problem... they make you crave more carbs. That is a very serious problem. My current level of carbs is 20 grams a day or less and I am rarely hungry. That is a very serious PLUS.

    Meat is just as insulinogenic as pure white sugar. Other animal foods and isolated plant proteins/excessive amounts of protein are highly insulinogenic, too. Fat, especially in a refined form, prolongs the periods of high insulin levels. So the advice should be:
    1. Avoid all processed/refined foods, including carbs, fats and protein
    2. Avoid animal foods
    3. Minimize your fat intake to the amounts of essential fats required by your body for maintenance
    Then your calories come primarily from fruits and whole starches. Add vegetables, greens, legumes and some nuts/seeds/fatty fruits for a balanced diet. Fat/Protein is then typically around 5-10% calories each.

      You lost weight because most vegans eat at a calorie deficit, it's that simple. Also all the protein you currently eat is incomplete proteins(plant proteins) so your body cannot utilize it fully hence not taking in as much as you used to.
      Anyone moving to Vegan loses weight because of drop in calories and rise in nutrients...nothing special really.

    So true. I recently cut out 85% of carbs and increased my raw veggie intake to about 75% of my meal and noticed I dropped 5lbs in 3 months. I still do bread, rice and grains but in very little amounts. This healthy new diet excludes soda, sugary drinks, pasta, 80% of breads, no processed food and still allows me to eat large amounts. This is definitely the way to go. Whole foods all the way.

      +anika ahmed cholesterol level is preset by your DNA anyway. Cholesterol in blood and in food are two different things.
      Do some more research on cholesterol clarity and the side effect of statin drugs to cut the cholesterol.
      If doctors tell people about high or low cholesterol, they are already 30 years behind science. They should tell you about the trig, HDL, LDL ratio.
      Even people call LDL is bad cholesterol, there are different types of them. If LDL size are big, dont worry about it.
      Its only my 2 cents.

      +anika ahmed Eggs are mostly fat, I would recommend oatmeal as it's a slow release source of carbs. I'm biased (vegan shooting to eat 80% of my calories from carbs, 10% from fat and 10% from protein 5'11 @ 145lbs, competitive cyclist) I'd recommend you eat more home cooked food (eat simple, less salt, no processed food) Good luck

    • @amandajstar
      @amandajstar 9 років тому +2

      +anika ahmed You can indeed eat eggs -- and NOT eating them will probably do nothing at all to help your cholesterol. (Some of that cholesterol, don't forget, is actually necessary to your health and survival!) The genesis of cholesterol is much more complex than simply what foods you eat. In any case, I would cut almost any potential problem food BEFORE I cut out eggs! They are an immensely high-quality protein, and inexpensive, and you can cook and enjoy them without adding fats (which is hard to say for most other proteins). Do read up on the subject. Why not start with Gary Taubes, to name one nutrition expert?

      Majd..you are so right. We are being bombarded with sugar. This is why so many young kids are obese at a very young age. Statistics say that for the first time in history, the future generation will die before there parents at the rate they are going. It is sad, and uncalled for. It appears that things are changing a bit now. It takes some looking, but products are out there that are sugar free, and I mean without the chemical sugar substitutes also. Keep the faith and read labels...:)

      +Kool Quis I do not know what exactly your pickles made of and what is ur fitness goal. In general, food like pickles is very tasty. Adds spread a little bits on food I think is fine. However too much might cause addiction of too much salt, I guess. Craving for salty and sweet might lead to belly fat which is opposite to the goal of being cut lean. But once a while is fine. It is my personal opinion and experience.

    Eventually losing fat comes down to being in a caloric deficit over a long period. I have seen recent studies showing people on a low carb diet with exact the same calorie intake lose a little bit more than the high carb, low fat, group. The difference in weight is only water retention. I lost 45 pounds of weight on a high carb (low fat) diet and did cut to about 10% bf. No need to do low carb if you track your macro's en calories.

      Then that is not all that surprising. There's a reason why I asked you your starting and ending weight because weight loss is not linear. The heavier you are the easier and faster you can lose weigh.
      For example if you were 200 lbs then walking that much would burn you up to 700 Calories but if you were only a small guy of say 160 lbs then it's less than 500 Calories. Not only that, even at sedentary level a heavier person generally burns less than a lighter person.

    • @drewbles22

    after reading these comments I realize that most people don't quite understand how body chemistry and physiology work. what this guy is saying is true. most people when they are younger don't see it as obviously as they do when they get older. Usually around the age 30-35, metabolism starts to slow down and old dietary habits start to overshadow workout routines. Needless to say, you must change your eating habits to stay ahead of your body's natural tendency to change with age.

    How are beans on this list, beans have only 1 gram of sugar per serving. eziekial bread has no sugar. Our ancestors also ate lots of corn.

    • @ChristianDDunca
      @ChristianDDunca 9 років тому

      Roger W He is right, beans are starchy foods meaning that they are rich in carbohydrates which btw, is pure sugar. Sugar is not only the white stuff we put in the tee and coffee. All carbohydrates are sugars. There are 3 main simple sugars among which, sucrose, the white powder and 3 other forms of complex sugars like oatmeal. YES, oatmeal is sugar (except the proteins and fibers it contains). Anyways, I strongly recommend you learn more about nutrition. It is not that difficult if you have a good book that explains it well. Here is a great book, www.yourperfectbody.me/ . I strongly recommend it yo anybody that want to know how their bodies function and how they react to different foods. Good luck!

    • @alucard2010
      @alucard2010 9 років тому

      christian dunca Hmmm. I am a nutritionist and personal trainer. Can you explain how I can get people lean while they consume carbs,fats and proteins? beans are also rich in fiber, which you poop out. This sounds a lot like a paellio diet

    • @ChristianDDunca
      @ChristianDDunca 9 років тому +2

      Roger W I don't want to be rude but I don't know what kind of nutritionist are you since you lack the basic understanding of sugars. I say this based on your comment, I quote: "eziekial bread has no sugar". If you were a nutritionist you must have known that bread is mainly carbohydrates which in the case of bread is a polysaccharides (sugars). I post a link previously of a book that can answer your burning question. But nice exchanging some ideas.
      P.S. - you're right about beans, they have fibers but they have a high content of carbs which doesn't make them very suitable for rapid weight loss.

    • @alucard2010
      @alucard2010 9 років тому +1

      christian dunca One that does not follow the advice of one book. Everyone is different and everyone processes carbs differently. Compared to other breads eziekail has no added sugar, plus proteins which is very simalr to egg. Five years of trining my clients and they are all lean and fit, and guess what they eat beans, rice and other types of carbs. Also I would like to you to eat 3600 calories of proteins and greens and no carbs. and tell me if you hit your calorie goal. Which some of my clients need to do. I am not talking about rapid weight loss. actaully rapid weight loss is bad as most likely people will gain it back.

    • @ChristianDDunca
      @ChristianDDunca 9 років тому +1

      Roger W The only thing you proved with this last comment is that you are not a nutritionist since you have no clue what you are talking about. I want to give you credit though for your use of carbs. Nowhere in my comments or in the video is stated that one must not consume carbohydrates. What we say is that the type of carbohydrates and the source as well as the amount is what matter and if you want to achieve a lean body you must know how to combine these different sources. I am not saying that you must not eat beans or rice or eziekail bread. What I am saying is that if you want to, you must be very careful on how much of each you put into your diet otherwise you slow down the process of burning stored fat tremendously. I am sure that your clients could have got into shape with far fewer hours in the gym if you knew what to advise them to eat but never mind, it's your business and your clients time. Good luck.
      P.S. - If I were you I would read some books and articles regarding the recent research done in the field of nutrition. The diet you are talking about was the best diet back in the 60's, no kidding!

    • @nameless9491
      @nameless9491 7 років тому +1

      Gokhan Bas 100-150g is not too much. It's a moderate amount that is also recommended for weight loss. If those carbs are coming from wholefoods that are slowburning and fruits and veggies then it's a healthy amount. Under 50g is good for people who have diabetes but not for everyone who wants an effective weight loss. I'd rather eat low fat with moderate carbs than low carbs and higher fat.
