Rail traffic in Romania - Snakes, tunnels, bridges - National Park Jiului [4K]

- The gorge of the Jiu River in Romania is a part of Jiului National park in the western Carpathian Mountains. Through this gorge there is a railway line between Petrosani and Targu Jiu (Romanian railway line number 202). There are many railway tunnels, galleries and bridges. Due to age, parts of this line, like some old tunnels and retaining walls, seem abandoned and very spooky. The whole environment is left only to weather and natural influences. There are no houses and villages nearby, so in that gorge there is a large number of reptiles and poisonous snakes. It is known that snakes prefer to stay on the train tracks, especially in the evening when the tracks remains warm from the sun during the day. During the recording of trains at this line, I came across several snakes and some of them I managed to record. The most terrible of all was the snake in the middle of the railway tunnel in total darkness. This scene represents a horror note in this film and I think it completes the whole story about this railway line and its train traffic and makes it more interesting.

I am having quite some trouble understanding why so many people disliked this video. It is truly awesome!
Maybe because in most countries it's illigeal to walk on the tracks.

Amazing video! The Jiu Valley line is one of the most beautiful on the Romanian Railways' network! Honestly i cant thank you enough for this! Svaka čast kolega!
Also a few facts about this line: Work on it started in the 1930s, but it was completed withn months in 1948 (if you noticed at one of the stations, cant remember its name, there was a PMR symbol and the hammer and sickle put on a wall, PMR being the then Romanian Workers' Party) and due to its industrial importance, electrified on 31 October 1973. It has approximatley 39 tunnels, 8 major bridges and 27 smaller viaducts.

It's a wonder these snakes don't get scared by the extreme noise of passing trains. Usually reptiles feeling vibrations run away to hide, with a few exceptions. There's a few snake breeds that get aggravated and become offensive with noise or sudden movements.
Anyway, it looks like a lovely place, beautiful environment with forests and running rivers! Stunning!
AND, with a bit of luck and if you stay there overnight, you may even see Count Dracula himself!
He lived not far from there!

The locals call them Horn Vipers.

Yes it is a viper snake( Berus ou Aspic), however these snakes are very affraid when trains make a lot of noise( vibration )

Great video, the scenery and mountains looks very similar to the Appalachian mountains here in the U.S . We also have many venomous viper's here as well . Many Rattlesnakes and Copperhead snakes, which are actually Pit Viper's. Those Horned Vipers are beautiful snakes.

"Deferred maintenance", I think, is the expression; wait until a train derails killing a few people, then we might think about some ballast cleaning, some bolt tightening and rail grinding. Thanks and respect to Dulevoz for showing all of the beauty, the deterioration and the run-down nature of this railway system, in a most professional manner.
Government doesn't give a shit on train transport. It's the most beautiful railway from Romania in my opinion,and the road wich goes side by side with railway it's even gorgeous. Zero investment in the last 25 years, that is the reason for this condition....they done only one thing, speed limit .....

Really fantastic footage from all points of view!! I've been passing through this Valley once by train and its an believable experience with breathtaking views. However, I have just one question man... Weren't you a little afraid to stay so close and film those snakes which I presume that they are venomous vipers? :S ... You really challenge Stewe Irwin and must be really passionate! I admit that it would have scared me as shit if I were there:)
Yes it is Vipera ammodytes or the horned viper but it seems that you really have to provoke it to attack you.

What type of poisionous snakes - adders, or something else ? Do you know ? That tunnel snake would have made me piss in my pants if not worse!!! We call them Horn Viper, they only live in those mountains, they are poisoneus so you should stay away from them.
@@shoppy00 I new from the triangular head that they were poisonous, but how poisonous are they ? Some are worse than others.
