BMW E46 Project: Bye-Bye Euro Tune! Hello TunerPro! (MS43)

- Hey folks! I recently reprogrammed the engine and transmission computers in the Basket Case BMW. The transmission tune is working great! But I'm not a fan of the Euro tune for the engine. So I decided to setup TunerPro, and use that instead.

Now that I have TunerPro setup, that opens up some tuning opportunities. I can use it to squeeze a few extra ponies out of this engine. Should be fun!
Hey, great video it's what, I think, I've been looking for. My question is if you "delete/disable" the O2 sensor does this just toggle to not send a code? How does this effect passing an emission test (I hate these). Thanks for the help
I only disabled the downstream O2 sensors. They don't affect the emissions or anything. Basically all they do is monitor the catalysts, to make sure they're working properly. With no catalysts, there's nothing to monitor. Whether or not that will pass a vehicle inspection will depend on the laws in your area.
Bro how can I download the vin file ?
I've spent countless hours trying to find a way to do exactly this, THANK YOU!
Nice work!
thanks!
0:58 that's not true. we had these things too, but the SAP was removed later by factory (dunno which year). the downstream o2 sensors are still a thing even tho everyone is disabling them or replacing them with wideband versions.
1:15 you have to set the c_conf_mil and c_conf_mil_eu2 to correct values. then the check engine light will work.
nice video tho, u got a new sub here :)
Nice video and keep up posting some more tuning video using MS4X tuning file with TurnerPro man. Anyway what engine are on ur E46, B30M54 or B25M54? Next video can you make it more specific like step by step from read and save the stock file then tuning the file and after that flash the files so it'll be easy for new beginner like me on how to dothe tuning. Good job man, many thanks.
Thanks! It's a M54B30.
For some reason I’ve had e46s I flash not turn the engine light on in accessory, but the bulb is still working and will show as working on a scanner. Light will come on however if there are any codes INPA will verify that. Can’t speak for your previous tuner but this has happened to me in the past on a few cars I’ve flashed.
The EU2 tune completely disables the check engine light. The ECU still stores trouble codes, but the warning light is never activated. I have tested that myself. And other people report the same behavior.
EDIT: But that's with the EU2 tune. Other tunes may be different. For example, the tune I'm currently using (self tuned) has normal check engine light function.
how do you install transmission tune? can you please make a video on it?
Hi. BMW E39 530i. I did a post cat sensors delete same as You, setting to 1 and used tuner pro.
I upgraded firmware from MS430037 to MS430069. Everything went fine but I don't have engine light when ignition is on. What I did wrong? Thanks
Did you make any other changes? Sounds like maybe the check engine light was disabled. I think there's a setting for that, but don't remember exactly which one.
@@michaelblacktree I only switched off post cat sensors and disabled cats heating, nothing more.
I'm not sure what's wrong. Your best bet would be to find a BMW tuning forum, and talk with them.
@@michaelblacktree Problem solved. c_conf_mil_eu2 - I changed from 0 to 2 and now I have check engine light when ignition is on :)
Yeah, that's the one I was thinking of. BTW, that's also what the EU2 tune does. It changes that setting to 0.
Th tunerpro can tune e39 540i m62 engine
What is the xdf you used.
My car has an MS43 ECU. So I used the 430069 xdf and bin files from MS4X.com
I didn't see ews delete option. It's not there?
I haven't done the EWS delete.
Hi you use a tuner pro or tunerpro Rt?
I'm using the free version of TunerPro.
I not sow every function
Which XDF You use ? Patchlist 2.5
I'm using the MS430069 bin and xdf.
Are you putting the ms43 into boot mode to read and write the changes? If so, how are you doing that and what method did you use to put it into boot mode?
With the MS4X flash utility, you don't need to put the ECU into boot mode. Also, it calculates the checksum automatically.
@@michaelblacktree So you can make those changes through the OBD2 programming instead of flashing the MS43?
I'm not sure what you mean. The MS4X app can do full or partial flashes of the ECU. Typically, tuning changes just need a partial flash, which only takes a few seconds.
Euro cars do have secondary o2 sensors(monitor) that's why your tune didn't work out probably
The tune worked as intended. But I don't like having the check engine light disabled.
@@michaelblacktree I have a german e46 convertible euro2 obd1 (newer type key) no sap and secondary o2 sensors so really depends which tune you got from what type and which model year there are also differences between a sedan/touring tune and a coupe/cabrio
The tune I used did not have downstream O2 monitoring.
@@michaelblacktree then it was probably already a modified tune for certain options
No, it was a stock tune. I looked up the European version of my car on RealOEM. And I used the software version listed for that ECU.
How do I download the flasher and get it ready ? When I go to install, it won’t install.
Maybe this will help: www.e46fanatics.com/threads/ms4x-dev-group-flasher-for-ms42-ms43.1259659/#post-18598043
Alpina tune for trans???
yes
@@michaelblacktree where can I get this??
I have a video on this. Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/sZGVB7QRfuI/v-deo.html
Hey in the community patch list they use to have the speed limite so we can't remove the 255klm/h limit.
But now I can't see it do you know what map it is?
I'm not sure. Haven't messed with that yet.
@@michaelblacktree ok and did you learn about vanos timing to gain some power?
I did some research, but haven't had a chance to do any testing yet.
