Timeless, clean, and simple.
"nothing looks cooler than when you undo it at the end of the night" mysteriously similar to what He Spoke Style says in his video about neckties/bowties ...
TinyLoaf96 i was thinking the same
@@jz9172 cheers #69
As someone who is 18 and has not been to a special occasion with a tuxedo, I hope to rock one of these classic looks soon
if you do, do it right. otherwise dont do it at all.
Absolutely brilliant narration, the style of shooting and just the overall feel of the video! Timeless, rich and elegant.
great video, simple and informative. I may be stuck in the wrong era but this is how a tuxedo should be worn. *cheers
There is no era for timeless and classical mens fashion. The dinner jacket/tuxedo is as refined as when Henry Poole & Co. created it decades ago.
Well said, I agree. Although, there are many different variations now that I just don't relate to. Sneakers with a suit/tuxedo etc. Classic is always the way to go, just in my opinion.
There's nothing cooler than Mr John Legend.
I just made a beautiful black tuxedo with a 4 1/2 inch grosgrain lapel and thin stripe on the slacks. Total custom job worked on it with my tailor I have yet to really take it out but will be doing so shortly.
Love the nod to Floris fragrences!
John looks very nice, but he needs a cummerbund and patent oxfords, he is wearing derbies. If those are buttons, they need to be covered up with a fly front. Also the jacket must be ventless or side vented if you put your hands on your pockets a lot.
wrong. formal pumps only.
Elegant as usual.
YESSSSS, i would drop everything to work for you guys.
You should Invite Mr. Sven Raphael Schneider from the Gentleman's Gazette for a Video
why RU knechtel I would scream of joy
why RU knechtel YES!
Raphael would be let down becouse of few mistakes in this tux
@@wertold4622 He would have a fit. lol
Chic, Timeless and very well made video. Great speech by Mr. Legend.
definitely rocked it in his video ''who do we think we are''
I don’t know why but I find this video very inspiring:))
I come back to watch this every so often
simply amazing
i got myself vintage chester barrie tuxedo, same people who made Ralph Lauren Purple Label suits for a very cheap price, something like 130 quid with a perfect fit.
Paid 27 quid for overcalf silk dress socks
Paid 350 for pleated dress shirt, proper pleats made in England and for a matching bow tie and cummerband for my tuxedo. lapel facings are grosgrain, so grosgrain accessories.
Paid 95 for silk moire white braces. Moire a very similar pattern to grosgrain.
Paid 200 for my black oxford wholecuts.
So overall my outfit I paid for is £800. But the suit was the biggest bargain, usually they sell for £1300- 2000£
Anyone can look good and present themselves as a gentleman or a lady but it is at home, alone where you can see if a person is in fact a lady or a gentleman. As they are alone it is hard but a few situations can happen. For example, an apartment fire alarm going of during the night. Now that is a perfect place to see, when any given person is a lady gentleman
Love his socks
What is the name of the jazz piano song ?
Did you find out
Late Night Mellow by Jason Rebello
Sorry..! The Tuxedo goes back to before the rat pack! It was designed as "informal court dress" for a private party/gathering for the Prince of Wales by his tailor Henry Poole & Co of Savile Row. There were some Americans at the party, who were told to get informal court dress made at Poole's and they really liked it, they took it back to America and wore it at their club: the Tuxedo Park club in New York. Other members copied the suit and the name stuck... The rest, the rack pack etc, is a footnote in the story... I find it interesting that was is considered formal dress today is actually informal court dress of its day!
His name says it all, doubtlessly
I love you Mr John legend
Great vid
He has great Style
Can anyone please tell me the name of this song
I WOULD LOVE TO USE IT
Thanks!
1:12 Did he mean to say "expose any ankle"? It would be quite difficult to expose your calves while wearing formal trousers.
maybe he thinks ankles are calves
So dope..
Classic
There were some things missing like studs and waist covering...but i was actually pretty shocked by all that was right!
What fragrence is that on the counter?
Maarten Van Der Zaag Floris of London. Fantastic woody perfume, much recommend it over any of the mainstream makes.
I would not wear a wristwatch with a tuxedo 🤷🏼♂️
Good
anyone knnows the piano instrumental name?
You should invite Mr JJ juliusson from Kaleo. That man is a stylish gentleman
Derby not Oxford?
I need a real link to this song
This guy is so fucking cool.
what song is this
Only unfortunate thing here is the single vent of the jacket. .. a bit of a shame from an otherwise great looking outfit.
single vent is a lot more of a classic style which doesn't go amiss with something like a tuxedo though I do agree the double vent tends to be more flattering, more comfortable, modern and better aerated
Fucking hell, and I am here sitting: Wtf are they all talking about? xd.
The type of vent is best fitting with regards to how your buttocks is. One with a larger butt will benefit more (with regards to flattery, lookswise of course) from a double vent, otherwise, single vent or double will do perfectly fine.
Now wear YSL Tuxedo in your Tuxedo and watch the magic really happen.
👌👍👏
Does anyone knows the name of the song?
I believe it is battement tendu II (2nd movement; symphony no.94) It is used a lot in ballets- but this is just my guess. hopefully that helps. Enjoy
LouB3rt Thanks 👌

🍻❤️
Tips from me... a tailor. Never wear a watch with any sort of tuxedo, white tie or morning wear. It is a disrespectful sign as it makes other people around you feel like you have something better to do other than be at that place and time. Just leave the watch home.
Too much
@@uchennasunday7037 too much what? Education? Seems like you are lacking some of it my friend.
Just because you wear a watch somewhere doesn't mean it's so you can constantly look at the time 😂 sometimes a nice watch compliments the look and won't hurt
@@rossboss7341 that reply was a bit aggressive Mr Tailor. What if that person was agreeing with you that yes, a watch is sometimes “too much”?
You got some issues ma boi…anger management will help you
True however one watch that is appropriate for evening/ formal day wear would be a pocket watch (but yeah highly recommend to just leave the watch home)
what about a proper tuxedo shirt
Since when was it okay to wear a watch with a tuxedo? Great video otherwise.
Phil Healy also should wear a tuxedo shirt
Limitation is what puts us behind. Everyone is entitled to express themselves the way they please, if you want to wear a watch, go ahead, it's part of a personal style.
Ayomide Bamidele then the title of this video shouldn't be "how to wear a tuxedo "if you are allowed to wear whatever you like.
You speak as if there's only one way to wear one. If such is the case, then there's a real issue with regards to your perspective(s), cheers.
Ayomide Bamidele I think you have a real issue of not knowing what a Tuxedo (Dinner Suit) is but pretend that you know.
Second comment
Vanity.
damn. I just bought a fake bow tie from Zara..
Time for prom
You don't wear a freaking watch with a Tuxedo!!!!!!!!!
😏❤️⭐️
When wearing a Tux you shouldn't wear a watch. Tux occasions don't ask for time keeping. They're about enjoying your time.
waist covering was left at grandmas home probably
To be honest there are few mistakes in your words and tux.
Wrong shirt worn by Mr. John Legend, unfortunately........for a tuxedo, the shirt front can only be with a flying cover or closed by studs...........
All he needs is a new face. And he'll be perfect.
wrong shoes, never wear a watch & no studs . try again dude.
I am the one who changed the comments from 100 to 101
Tuxedo, aka dinner jacket, is not the most classic. White tie is the most classic, follow by morning dress. And tuxedo should only be black, not Midnight blue. And no wrist watch either.
Tuxedo and dinner jacket are different things.
You are not supposed to wear an evening watch
Or just wear flip flops and a T shirt
His suit is too tight....
Too much 'SAUCE'.
50 years since rat pack? Lol. Black tie hasn't changed since 1870s and white tie since 1840s. Lol.
do fews ON all THrrE types oF asians and native americans and hispanics too.
fail. must be strictly pattent leather.
wrong collar
Terrible outfit, awful fit and drape, and it goes against all conventions for black tie dress.
Check out more excellent clothing videos from AskOakey suits.
Can anyone guess the One Piece he Totally Forgot 🤔
