How Husbands Is Rethinking The Suit | MR PORTER
Вставка

- While it’s unfair to make assumptions about a person based purely on where they live, you might expect a Parisian tailor to take a rather more philosophical approach to their craft than one based in, say, Milan or London. Philosophy permeates every aspect of French life, after all, from the classroom to the dining table; why should the tailor’s fitting room be off-limits? Stereotypical as it may sound, this theory is lent a certain credibility by Husbands, a menswear atelier in the heart of Paris. Here, being fitted for a suit means first confronting one’s own mortality.
"You accept your chronology. You accept that you're not in a constant cycle of youth and that you will die.”

Kind of feel guilty that I just watched this for free. This is art.

Agree
Ahh finally Mr Porter, back to excellent videos.
Excellent, quiet, classy... very good commercial!
Dunno how many times I’ve watched this but this series means so much to me. Pls bring it back 😿😿😿
11AM to 7PM much more civilised hours. On to dinner afterwards.
You guys never disappoint! This was marvelous!!!
This is the Mr Porter I Love.
This video reminded me why I subscribed to this channel on the first place. Elegant.
The opening line is everything!
Just amazing, well done MrPorter!
This pure gold pure CLASS
The suit he wears isn't like most others. Seen other French people wear similar suits lots of fabric but not baggy. Great material and quality. :) very different from what I'm used to wearing.
This is what we want. Thank you Mr Porter!
This is amazing, i enjoyed every bit of this video.
If only all advertisements were made this classy, damn i wouldn't mind interruptions in my videos
That fabric at 1:30 is wow!!
It's a vintage fabric. The shop he's in is Lafayette Saltiel Drapiers in Paris. They specialize in vintage fabrics from probably the 30s and onwards. But they stock new stuff as well.
Terrific video. Plus the suits are very nice and affordable.
Absolutely outstanding.
Beautiful Paris.
How many sweet memories.
Even though this guy has a lankier build, you’ve got to admit his suit fits his body type perfectly
Jazzy and French and fabric 🎷. Thank you Mr. Sax.
The cinematography is so underrated here. Dope!
Indeed it is, very very good.
Always brilliant.
Damn that final quote is so cool
His style reminds me of a young Yves Saint Laurent. Cool threads.
the way he made the model turn.. class
I request to start the series of the way I dress , it yours one of the best series ever , please start it again...!!
The Classics are timeless
Great last line.
Love your content!!!
thank you!
Just read the article, would love to see men my age dress in suits on a regular basis.
Best video on UA-cam.
Sacre Mr. Porter, well done! Husbands is now on my wishlist! Happy that they're here in Paris.
Christian...Husbands shop is in Paris. Look at their website.
so good.
Fantastic 👍👍👍👍
Awesome suits. I hope to get one. Although I’m not a fan off padding in the shoulders. I find if you lift weights less shoulder padding is preferable.
I don’t really ‘lift’, I work out 3 days a week but mostly for performance or injury prevention. That being said I get terrible shoulder divots. Very soft shouldered suits and unpadded suits look better for me. I hate Hugo boss suits, very small armholes with too much shoulder padding.
@@macbruce7562You need to armhole to be as small as possible for movement
Lovely video
good Mr.porter
Amazing channel 🔥🇲🇽
Glad you are enjoying our videos
Beautiful 🌷
2:31 .. doing his best Saturday Night Fever strut lmao
I used to live in a room full of mirrors
All I could see was me
Well I take my spirit and I crash my mirrors
Now the whole world is here for me to see

Does anyone know the music in the background? It’s on plenty of Mr Porter videos, but I still don’t know. Any help would be great.
I'm guessing it's the Pink Panther music
wondering the same, I don t think that it s a classic recording, rather something new
@@ezrakim1323 make a more educated guess please, embarassing
@@wurzelausc i think you've got your trousers too high up your waist.. loosen up
@@imaadmalik7336 and what s your contribution to the subject besides policing the tone of others?
Superb
We need a mr.porter guide on the signet ring
MR PORTER _ May I kindly ask "What camera do you film with" very nice asthetics
"...and the end of the quest is when you meet your tailor."
DAMN.
song please?
This somehow have me a nostalgia for a time and place I've never been. Mission accomplished.
I have no idea what he really said but I want a suit and an espresso now.
Song?
I love the French suit
je voudrais une suit d'husbands! merci!
The melody in the background... Anyone has a clue?? Thank you
x2
It may be "So What"...
Good Boy.
if he had a tie it would be perfect
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Looks similar to an unstructured Cifonelli suit with a notched lapel.
Cifonelli: My favorite brand. I hope husbands does sports jackets.
Gaylon Graham the shoulder looks very different imo. A Cifonelli suit features roped shoulders which are so characteristic for their house style.
@@AkeemDenim note, I mentioned an unstructured Cifonelli suit, hence the padding would be lessened.
Gaylon Graham But wouldn’t the sleevehead still be rolled?
@@AkeemDenim ask yourself how would a thickly padded rolled shoulder look on an unstructured jacket, not tasteful.
"...the life of a man you have a quest, at the end of your quest you meet (sic) your tailor"
Please hire meeeeee
What are his glasses?
The end of the quest...is when you meet your tailor.." ain't that the truth
Ads are getting classier
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿🧐I Love love love Chic Men😍
How exactly is he rethinking the suit? The video is well done and I'm sure he makes lovely suits, but everybody I've heard talk about suit-making has said some version of what he's saying here. There's no real unique defining quality to his designs. It seems like just a French mastery of fusing English and Italian suit styling.

he is undoubtedly the most sexiest old man i have seen.
My nose is bleeding...
It looks as if he borrowed the suit he is wearing from someone a bit bulkier..
Rohail Ali classic French, the garment should hang on the body and not sculpture your body.. if done correctly it give a flowing elegance. I can see where your coming from though. Live fruitfully sir
Best regards
@@francisburke2136 thanks for explaining. I am no fashion critic. But to me, that doesn't look right. But that's one's preference how he wants to look.
and with brüno
If your shirt's sleeve isn't 1 cm longer than your jacket's, do you even exist?
“Simple and complex” is a contradiction maybe he meant simple and sophisticated
Yeah this sentence is meant to show a contradiction because he said that french suits are a kind of paradox
I’ve never heard an accent as strong as his
J’adore Nicola Gabard un homme passionnant avec du charisme et une vrai classe parisienne je trouve. Je vous conseille cette interview qui est aussi fortement intéressante. m.ua-cam.com/video/ZzYxEnu-Y6Q/v-deo.html
kami kaze Merci!!
Why is he wearing his pants so high ?
indeed all trash in the streets, elegance is almost vanished
lmfao
spectacular video
0:03 Does it have to be either or? Enjoy what you do without putting others down. Lift it up, please.
One thing that I don’t like about “men’s fashion” is that so much of it is people larping as 20th century gentlemen. Maybe it’s time to move on from suits? I think we can do much better than a bland piece of fabric
Pajmas?
"There's nothing exciting in the streets"
So life isn't exciting?
The jacket is too long for him
Nice video but this accent is so bad :/
He sounds too pretentious I had to turn it off
French style for men doesn’t really exist.
Italian style of course, English style is something obvious, but French style for men’s wear... No
This old man need rest now he doesn’t know what he is talking about Bozo
