I’m so glad I found this video. Recently tore my MCL and ACL and I’m having surgery on my ACL in about 2 weeks. It’s my first major surgery and the more information I know, the better I feel. So thank you 💕

Glad I watched this! Currently rehabbing MCL (sprained both LCL and MCL, with MCL taking the brunt, but ACL and PCL looked OK in the MRI) and this is the first I've heard about proprioception issues, which explains some of the issues that I'm having

So glad you mentioned the 'grades', as I have several medicalese terms, lol. Meniscus, ACL, MCL, and fractured tibia. 7 weeks out, swelling came down after 2, but if I can find out those 'grades' of my injuries, I will have a better idea of whether surgery is likely.
I'm on a walker, just barely put weight on that leg. Cross fingers!☝️

I have a full ACL year but wasn’t eligible for surgery. It’s causing me to separate from the Marine Corps, but I am now able to jog up to medium speeds, no restriction upper body lifting, and only mild restriction lower body lifting (no heavy dead’s or squats). I strengthen my legs daily with banded exercises and stretch and normal life is absolutely normal, like nothing ever happened. However, I will never play competitive sports or perform duties as a Marine, so luckily I planned to discharge anyway and start my business. What you intend to do in life determines whether the surgery is needed or not

I have a grade 3 ACL,MCL,PCL tear since 6 month and am back to 100%movement after 5 weeks of 5h daily rehab. Now weight bearing, hiking, running even sitting on my heels for 5 minutes without any pain - after research this seems like a miracle and doctors don't recommend surgery.
Although I think I should have surgery due to my physical lifestyle and work (rope access/construction, snowboard etc)
I have a surgery planned but might opt out of it - really not sure what the best way of action is for me.l but am worried that my knee will prematurely wear out due to my active lifestyle I want to keep.

I was injured in Iraq, doc over there said it was a sprained knee. After a month on crutches, went back to work as an infantryman. For about 7 months did my ruck marches, pt test, and job. Got back to the states, knee started locking. Check myself in, after mri, doc said I blown my acl and tore my meniscus.

    • @tchevrier
      @tchevrier 4 роки тому +4

@@ritikarajput3727 I did get surgery, but several years later. For the most part I was able to function normally with physiotherapy and keeping the muscles strong. It wasn't until many years later that I decided to have the surgery.
The surgery is a slow recovery. There are typically at least 3 things you need to be aware of.
First, the ligament repair will typically feel good within weeks of the surgery. For me I was able to walk without pain and with full mobility within 3 weeks. However, they typically harvest part of your hamstring tendon to replace the ligament. This takes roughly 3-4 months to fully transform from tendon to ligament. And while you might feel good and strong, your new ligament is not and can very easily be torn. Follow the advice of your physiotherapist.
Second, they take part of you hamstring tendon and Thant makes your hamstring very weak. For normal people this can take 9-12 months to feel better.
Third, there is always an increase risk of arthritis after the surgery.

  • @SpaceK414

went to see the doctor, I was asking if I had patellar tendonitis, or Osgood slatter. He explained to me that it could be my ACL. He did an exercise on me, where he grabbed my left calf with his hand and his other hand on the knee. Then he pulled against him. The left was coming out way more than the right was, which is a sign that the ACL isn't doing its job because it's the ACL's responsibility that your leg and the little dot slightly below your knee (under the fleshy part) doesn't go out of its place (forward) and it did on my left but not on the right. I'm an athlete who normally plays football(soccer) every day. basketball here and there. however, when I tape the fleshy part of the knee it does hurt when I run or play basketball or football. It reduces the pain levels very much when I tape it when I'm doing everything related to football. I can squat on 1 leg usually with the other leg stretched out completely forward and squat, but now the left leg when I squat hurts when I go down to a certain point, but not on the right. Right now I'm waiting for my appointment for MRI where I take pictures of the ligament and stuff, this is maybe taking 2 weeks - 1 month, I'm training push-ups currently but don't know how to train the ACL, or don't become weak when I come back after resting much, he said rest while we wait for your appointment when we will see what we will do. Do these kinds of pains go away? does it heal over time? he didn't suspect that I had torn the ACL, but didn't mention anything about levels 1, 2, or 3. but 100% I'm on 1, or 2.

    Hi,
The current climate on COVID-19 has meant my ACL and Meniscus tear rehab have both been delayed/postponed or as it seems completely forgotten about by the NHS, which is understandable due to the pandemic. However my Surgeon/physician told me (when i FIRST had my MRI to confirm the tears), that i may be able to return to playing football without surgery due to having strong surrounding muscles and many other soccer/football players have done so (i thought he was just telling me this so that i stayed positive but the pain i felt at the time was telling me different and in no way did i think i would be able to do the things i am doing now without surgery).
As I have no physio or anyone helping me due to social distancing etc, i have kind of taken it upon my self to see what my knee is capable of... now almost 4 months post tear with no physio or any external rehab, I am able to barbell squat 120kg+KG for reps (was squatting 180KG prior) and run in a straight line without pain or sometimes both exercises cause maybe a 2/10 pain (sometimes) (i have been running 5 KM in around 22-23 minutes - so a decent pace). When i speak to others that have had the injury or at the same point in there recovery (4 months post trauma), they are unable to believe how much i can do with no physio/surgery/rehab. which is really leaving me in the dark as i just want to play football again... but also i dont want to cause anymore stress to the knee. I would'nt say my knee feels normal at all, but pain is low and stability is nowhere near perfect but its ok.
Now because I have no physio due to the current situation in the UK, I have no support or help as to what i should be doing next or what i should actually be doing... Being a student i also don't have the funds to pay extortionate amounts of money to go private. I am also worried that if i tell them this info they will tell me i don't need certain surgeries etc to save money and because i have told them i am ok and i am back running. but in order to play football at the level or intensity as i did i want to do whats best for my knee.
I am worried to try any multi directional work or even kick a ball. Is anyone on here able to advise or help me what i should do next? As if i can go back to playing football without having ACL reconstruction it would be a dream. If this is not the place could anyone point me in the right direction? Just to confirm I have had an MRI scan to confirm both a tear in my ACL and medial meniscus. just to note, I am a 20 year old male.
I hope everyones recovery is going well and thanks for taking the time to read!

My son in an accident at work ( he does live action shows in amusement parks) tore his ACL, MCL, PCL, Posterior Lateral Corner, popliteal artery, poroneal nerve. This happened June 11th, He has had a few surgeries but still no repair of the ACL, PCL, The meniscus was flipped back over. He has a orthotic for his foot drop. My question is can he start weight bearing without the surgery. We are hoping it happens in the next few weeks but he feels like he can put the foot down. But your video seems to say maybe the fluid inside may not want pressure until the surgery is done. We have a good orthopedic surgeon Dr Michael Shepard in Orange Ca., but he is waiting on vascular to give him permission to operate. Can he use pressure?

I was walking daily for 15 kms and everything was fine until I saw some videos motivating to run to strengthen my feet and after 1 week of running I got MCL tear and now I feel so stressed out of normal routine not able to stand for long . Can't walk even at home more than few minutes. I m not visiting doctor as I m not used to it cause always they told me big interventions which I never followed. I don't like take any meds at all. Hope I can self heal I had no twist or accident it was very gradually increasing after running. Even after strain I walked for next 2 days after I felt it's time to rest for few weeks.

Hi guys. Have sustained an MCL strain. Due to our current world covid situation I have played no sports and rested for over 12 weeks, however still have pain on the inside of knee (where mcl is) when walking let alone running. Your thoughts would be welcome.
    Many thanks,
    Alec

I'm going through the same injury right now. Since you posted your comment 3 years ago I see, I'm curious to hear how you are now and how long the recovery eventually took. Thanks!

Hi there how's it's going guys. Well I've been sitting here for hours watching your videos trying to diagnose what is exactly wrong with my knee but I can't seem to find what it is. Well here's a backstory. Back in high school I was in football, and around 2012 I tore my ACL and got surgery on my left knee, I went through the therapy and I was good to go and play again. No troubles, just minor pain here and there. I continued to play. Well about 2 years later, in 2014 I once again injured my knee, I remember the play that caused it. I was a right defensive end, the play begins and the tackle blocks in, so I run forward, plant my feet, and I see a pulling guard that throws himself to my left knee as my feet were planted. He hit the left side of my left knee, and I felt my knee go outward to the right side. (Away from my knee towards my right leg.) The best way I could explain it is, I felt as if my knee were dislocated. I couldn't put weight on it and I definetly could not straighten out my leg or bend it. All they did was ice it and after about a week or two my knee "popped" back into place and I was able to finish the rest of the season off, yet I did feel pain throughout playing but I would just heat it before physical exercise, and ice it afterwards and take medication. After the season ended I went to get an MRI, but i can't for the life of me remember exactly what the doctor said, I think it might've been my MCL but I'm not completely sure because I ended up just getting a brace for my knee, no surgery. He said I needed to wear the knee brace for anything physical I do. This was when I was 18. Throughout the past three years, i have had numerous events in which this happens to my knee. I do not like using the knee brace as it requires to use it extremely tight for it to work and causes pain to my calve and leg, hinders motion, and makes my knee feel completely weak after removing it. I'm very active, I play basketball, and sometimes do not wear my knee brace. The best I can describe the causes to this, is when I am on my toes and turn too quick, I feel like my knee pops out inward; I can't walk on it, nor straighten my leg out AT ALL like I mentioned earlier in the injury, the pain is unbearable. I usually just ice my knee for a couple days and try to "pop it back in" every so hour. Eventually after a few days, maybe a week or two, of icing it and forcing my leg to straighten out, my knee somehow "pops back in" and I can walk on it straight but I feel pain. It feels like if by straightening out my leg, my knee "pops" inwards, towards the left (towards the center of my knee) and down all in one motion. I can even say like if it's a diagonal motion towards the left, back into where it belongs. After a few days, maybe a week or two of icing it and resting, I feel good like I got my strength back in my knee. But then eventually, it happens again and my knee "pops out of socket" inward. This has happened maybe 10 times whitin the last 3 years, but I'm beginning to get frustrated because I don't even know what causes this and I don't have insurance to go see an orthopedist, so I'd like to at least know what cause this to happen to my knee. I believe I might have a torn MCL but I'm not too sure. Thank you for your time.

You seriously should rest a long time though… until your ligaments heal themselves. If you keep doing intense activities and obviously keep getting injuries because of your unstable ligament, you might end up tearing all your other ligaments and may not be able to even walk again. Ligaments take a long time to heal, the more of them you injure, the more time and immobilization it will take. It was 4 years ago though, are you going good now?

Hi, I appreciate your videos. I have an elongated scapholunate ligament on my right hand, which I injured boxing. I have undergone therapy and cold laser, but only get temporary relief at most. My hand is stable, and I can close my grip fine, however if I exercise or use my hand a lot, I get discomfort. What would you recommend? Are there any supplements that could help? WIll the scapholunate ligament heal by itself?
