Edit: This dude must only play live service games or something. Believe it or not, a lot of games before the 2010’s were just the full package on release. Just because a game is old doesn’t mean it had a tragic downfall. It’s just a game from the past, that people still happen to play. That’s like saying smash bros melee or GTA San Andreas fell off because they didn’t get any content drops or dlc post launch.
Also, the statement about how simplistic games like CC wouldn’t work in today’s climate due to cinematic, story driven games just sounds out of touch. Plenty of indie games with simple gameplay make loads of money, for example.

For real. It shows how much of a stranglehold the live service model has on the gaming industry. Traditional games with all content on release, and even single-player games are seen as failures by some people now, when all the games did was just run their course.

modding is seeming to make an uprise, theres a dedicated discord server to making castle crashers mods atm and its booming
saying simplistic games like CC wouldn’t work now is i feel like just incorrect. I think a lot of players are drifting farther away from complex cinematic games because sometimes its just nice to relax and play a mindless pretty game. Castle Crashers art style plus the NEED for progression to understand the story combined with its never ending weird, silly, and just awesome bosses/level design is what made it so special. I think if they made a 2nd one it would be a banger & i also think if another company did it right that style of game and also doritos crash course are untapped gold mines

@nathanielgarcie6187 if you guys bought the remastered edition it could be that on eof you doesn't have xbox live, but for the original, the online multi-player might be disabled because it used arcade play

I played castle crashers from time to time but i didn't have an Xbox 360 or a ps3 so i would plqy it over at my cousin house who had a 360 and we would have a blast and when i got my nintendo switch and found castle crashers on discount i had to get it and it felt as good as it used to. This game will always have a place in my heart.
I’m the guy still playing it. Got it when I was 8 years old and I’m now 22 playing it with a buddy of mine. This game is in my top 5 of all time for sure

The game has a short story and other games have come out since. Simple as that. People that once enjoyed the game still do, just have other new games to play. Many, including myself, still find enjoyment out of the game, it's just an almost 2 decade old game.

I play this game now. I own both versions of the game.
The game might be way less popular right now, but I play a lot, and there is a decent amount of people online. Getting into a full server will take only a few seconds. There is usually around 600 to 2500 people playing at the same time. But good points in the video. It’s hard to make an old game come back after so many years, but I guess Minecraft did that.

Hard disagree! look at all the beatem ups/ hack & slash games announced. Streets of rage 4 & TMNT shredders revenge has brought back a new wave of these games. There is more interesting ever. We are gonna get a toxic crusaders & G.I.Joe beatem up of all things, so any IP is opened. So give me my Castle Crashers 2 it’s long over due. Lots to improve on the first game.
