Spent a whole summer trying to beat the game on all characters in insane mode. I’m proud to say I haven’t gotten bored of the game. I’ve been playing for a strong 9 years.
Jeez, how far did you get in that attempt? I had a majority of the characters unlocked and beat the game with a good number of them but my main was the orange knight and furthest I got on Insane was the necromancer fight. No matter how well it was going, I'd always end up getting hit by /something/, and I'd be fucked lmao. So close but so far. Enemy health pools on Insane are just something else lmfao
I played this game ALL the time non-stop. My dad may be into new beat 'em up games, but old beat 'em ups in the 2000s like Scott Pilgrim, Phantom Breaker, and this game are still stuck in me. I cannot tell you how much I still love playing this game after all these years, from 2010 all the way to 2023.
THIS WAS THE BEST GAME WHEN YOU ARE YOUNG. It was such a button mash game and addicting. I had almost all my characters maxed out. Glad others enjoyed this absolute masterpiece 🤟🏼❤️
My dad showed my brother and me this game and gave us his account where he only ever progressed with blue knight to level 20-30. We loved it growing up, with me maining blue knight and finishing leveling him up and my brother maining green before switching to industrialist. Super fun and I still play today. Banger music, too. Both the og and remastered versions are great with cool minigames. I'd love a Castle Crashers 2..This video makes me happy seeing the game is remembered, so thank you.
My theory about why the game is so replayable is because every moment of the game is unique. Unique enemies on every level, wildly unique boss fights, mechanics used literally only once (like stuff seen in the chase, river and carriage ride). It’s chaotic, and that makes it beautiful.
Quick Correction - Animal orbs aren't locked behind a level barrier with the exception of the Beholder. The key blade is required to unlock the door it's hidden behind and you have to be level 20 to wield it. It goes by wether you've picked them up or not. Example : my friend played for the first time and joined my lobby so all the animals were in their spots but he couldn't pick them up since he never found them in their respective levels. Also fun fact : You don't even need the magic jump to unlock the orange cat jn the animal shelter, you just gotta keep jump attacking til you reach the ceiling.
This game was a huge part of my childhood. I'm extremely excited for the upcoming DLC both because of funny custom characters and having the painter as a playable character was something I've wanted ever since I was a kid.
You forgot 1 thing about insane industrial, some enemies have a sword that can crit dealing 999 damage, even if you have the highest health possible it nearly insta-kills you thats insane
I can't describe with words the happiness I get when people acknowledge this game. I am so glad my childhood was in hands of The Behemoth. Castle Crashers is so good, and I was so excited when the remaster got released.
Great video man! I’ve put way more hours into this game than I’d like to admit 😅 Would love to see a follow up video covering insane mode. That mode really tests your patience at times ☠️
This game was legendary. I remember whenever I go to my grandma's house, I would go on the old PS3 and hop on it. I never had the full game, but the demo was enough to fill my entertainment all day. It's so nostalgic and fun, the music is awesome, the gameplay and story is pretty awesome too, and I always chose the green poison knight. I haven't played it in 2 years, I wish I had it. EDIT: 3/25/24 I GOT CASTLE CRASHERS REMASTERED ON MY PLAYSTATION 4! THE FULL GAME!!
9:50 Actually Dan Palladin dropped some lore in one of it's last reviews and said that the crystal blesses grey knights with powers and then they become.... well.... "higher rank" kinght just like blue knight, red knight, green knight and orange knight. The crystal also keeps balance and harmony to the knigdom or something like that? I think he wasn't shure himeself how it used to be.
First time watching this dude and honestly, 10/10 you’re awesome! I really liked this video and I’ll definitely watch more of your other content. Thank you.
This was my first game ever played.i played it when i was 3 and only played the tut for whole 2 years.eventually,my father came to visit us and bought the whole game and i came back from kindergarten when i was 5.my sister was on the console and told me she has beaten the barbaric boss.as soon as my sister was done playing i immediatly hopped on and played.i didnt have the dlc dor ps3 but i played with silver knight because he looked cool haha.then, years later 2017 i got my switch and bought castle crashers 2019.it was so nostalgic and i realized i had the other knights and didnt need to buy a dlc.i was so happy.now im 14 and still playing.i still dont have the golden skull on ny knight but who cares?the games still fun
I remember playing this with my cousins, it was so fun, I always played the purple knight because he was cool, I got it the remastered version on steam, loved every second of it.
This will probably go unnoticed by TrippedUp, but they’re re-drawing all the knights and whatnot in an upcoming update for pc and it’s looking REAL good. Definitely time for a replay around when it launches.
Not a forgotten game by the players or devs, it's literally one of the highest rated games on steam too. Plus how're you going to try and get players into a game as you said yourself but then spoiler the vast majority of the game over a pointlessly long video lmao.
The only way you get the game spoiled by this video is if you ignore the part where I literally tell you that I’m going to be going over the entire game. It’s your choice to watch past that point, and therefore your fault if you get the game spoiled by this video.

"forgotten game" Uh... Buddy, idk how to tell you this, but people still play this game. Is it anywhere NEAR as popular as when it was at its peak? No, obviously not. But I REALLY wouldn't call it "forgotten".
Even today, I can still pretty much always find online people to play with in random lobbies. I can even semi-consistently get a FULL 4 player squad. This may not seem like much at first, but think: how many players could ALREADY be in game? How many could be going solo?
Steam charts says there’s usually around 300-400 people on at any given time, which is definitely a good amount for such an old game. Still, a lot of people I talked to while making this video said they didn’t know the game or hadn’t thought about it in years before I brought it up. That’s why I gave it the title I did
