5:16 Maybe that's why Syrup had all of those explosives rigged up to her castle. Once she found someone willing to give her a fortune for the statue without ratting her out to royalty, she'd be able to destroy the castle and ship off the statue lickety split! A castle is a fitting disguise anyway, goodness knows there's plenty of those around in the Mushroom World.

Even though Wario Land 1 have it's differences to the rest of the series, i would love if they remade it in the Style of Shake It! or even in the Ducktales Remastered Style. I Think it would be a nice way to bring the series back. And if the Game sold well, we could finally see some new Entries in the Series!

I can't help but notice how the shine on Wario's nose switches sides as he gives a thumbs-up...
One detail you never covered: once you've beaten the game, any stage dots that still have treasures to claim in them will flash, making it easier to go back and find them.
This includes side stages you haven't unlocked, so if you see a flashing black circle with nothing connected to it, start hunting for secret exits.

I’ve always wondered if Wario as a series would be even prominent now if he ever got a home console sequel after his Gameboy debut, like a certain puffball did. Instead Nintendo stuck him to his portable roots, which only expanded the minimalistic charm of his games that blended into his spinoffs and eventually Warioware.
Really enjoyed this foray into his first proper game, I didn’t realize that the stench of garlic was already strong with his entrance.
Does Shake It! not exist in your eyes?
Shake It was a series revival attempt that took place 10 years after its last entry, 8 if you count Wario World which is its own bizarre offspring.
Either way my point is that most of Wario Land’s game design was fleshed out within restrictions of hardware limits in his early days, as opposed to immediately expanding to larger concepts and scope like Kirby Adventure and Super Star.
Wario really doesn't seem to care when losing a treasure lol.

To your point, Skawo, about time feeling less protracted as you age, there's been psychological studies on that very phenomena funny enough: timeframes make up a larger percentage of your life when younger versus older, so as you age certain timeframes may not seem to feel as extended. Compare a month's worth of time to a three year old versus a sixty year old for example.

I must have watched these credits countless times as a laddie, but up until now I never realized that sprite at 5:36 was supposed to be Mario and the statue off in the distance. I guessed it was somehow supposed to be Syrup running away?
Also, did you notice that front-facing Wario in the credits isn't mirrored properly and his missing tooth keeps switching places? (Will you now never be able to unsee it?)
Nah, Wario just has two retractable teeth, you see.
the real question is, was mario heading towards the castle independently of wario to retrieve the statue from captain syrup himself, and only just happened to pass by once wario uncovered it, or was he just following wario around all day, conveniently out of sight, waiting for him to do all the work so he can get the spoils and credit for getting the stolen statue back without having to put any effort in?
My vote is for the lattermost. Mario's a little shit.
I think mario wanted to steal wario's statue as payback for wario stealing his castle in mario land 2

A really funny thing to mention if you had the Jet Wario power up equipped for the Genie fight it greatly trivializes the need to use the lamp for the rng to wait for when you throw it as you can use the high jump and use the Jet Wario Air dash to damage the Genie.
You might think Mario is taunting with a wave before nabbing the statue, but I like to imagine he's putting two fingers up at Wario.
0:08 Wait...THIS is where this theme comes from? I never knew that! I've heard this piece before in the Mario 1 romhack Extra Mario Bros. I think, I had assumed it came from Metroid like the rest of that hack's non-vanilla music, but no, it's from this game! I have beaten this game before, but I did so via emulator on my TI-84 calculator which didn't have a speaker so I had no sound, so I never actually heard this in this game. You learn something new every day.
So Syrup stole the Peach Statue to pay the genie for Kitchen Island right?
So, in theory, if you had WAY too much time on your hands and decided to farm up 99999 coins instead of collecting any treasures, can you still get the best ending?
I think not, actually; you get a bag for collecting the treasures.
This was a fun series and while I still prefer the later Wario Lands I really appreciate some of the things I've discovered this one does (the biggest one being certain levels transforming as already mentioned), will eventually play it myself for sure!

This was a fun playthrough to watch through, I do have to ask as to what your schedule is, like going back to the Ocarina of Time mod or a different game entirely?
