Life is short. We need to prepare for our afterlife by being a good person while treating others with respect during our temporary stay in this world. Afterall, only our deeds will be looked into by the God to determine our next journey, whether our ultimate place will be heaven or hell. All things in this life is only a test to our commitment and faiths towards him. All of them may have gone by now. What they experienced then definitely different from what they are experiencing now. All of us will return to our creator. So be nice so that we would be rewarded with the nicest things later in the next life. May Allah open your heart to Islam before it is too late.

My grandparents were born in 1899. My grandmother gave birth to my uncle at 18 yrs. old in 1917 during the flu pandemic while my grandfather was fighting in WWI. That blows my mind. I couldn't imagine that. I always picked their brains about history. They had a wealth of knowledge to share and did. I hung on every word. Cars, electricity, running water, indoor bathrooms, going into coal mines in practically street clothes, ect, ect. Very hearty and resilient people. We are truly spoiled. Miss you Bubba and Pap Pap. Thank you for the history lessons.
You were so lucky to have such interesting grandparents! I was like you. I couldn’t get enough of my family’s stories. I asked and asked what it was like, and I was told so many interesting things. I don’t know why more people don’t ask questions. Once you lose your beloved parents and grandparents, their stories are gone, too.
Mine ranged from 1892 to 1902, I spent time with them what I could and learned a lot from them, but all gone too soon. Usually people ask "just how old are you to have grandparents that old?" Seldom thinking outside the box.
The stories is how we keep them alive since it is all we have left. Thank you for sharing.

They were a prominent family who owned many businesses barber shops specifically but says the husband was a business man of many things. The husband came from Germany in 1895 met his wife same year married and had their first child of 6 in 1896. They were the Lochowicz’s family the husband died in 1918 left the estate to his wife. She lived until 82 and continued running the multiple barber shops through the depression only losing a few of them.

Florian Lochowicz was born in Posen in 1871 and immigrated to America in 1890. His wife Antoinette was a distant cousin of his and she was the daughter of Konstantyn Cornelius Lochowicz and Julia Hectus. Konstantyn had immigrated in 1864, possibly due to the January Uprising in Poland. Florian worked as a barber and became very prominent because J.P. Morgan was patron of Florian's. Florian died unexpectedly in 1918 but was worth $70,000 at the time of his death. His wife continued running the Barbershops into the 1950s and still lived at their Brownstone home in NYC at 548 Eighth Street.

Why is he the only one smiling? Shouldn't every single person in that video have much more reason to smile, especially the children who seem to have more of a realization of reality than he does.
It seems like no one is smiling but everyone is content to survive
My grandpa was 14 yrs old when this video was shot. He told me cows used to graze in Central Park. Incredible what he saw, just incredible.
Kudos to the man who captured this moment.❤
The black guys eyes are haunting.. He has so much life and character in his face... When he smiles and turns to the family... In comparison to him, they have none...
Most white folks from that era were raised to treat blacks like a number.

Pretty good idea to search the cars license plate.
Correct. Just to reply to the countless comments why they are not smiling: in Eastern European cultures smiles are preserved for special occasions. In addition, Poland was occupied and undergoing ruthless exploitation, Russification and Germanization. There was mass emigration out of the country for economic and political and being in the US was not as easy as it is now.

Yes the change from Antone to Antionette was an way to appease the western European (Anglo , although it's more french) American English speakers, as Slavic names were often americanized. Slavic people were often looked down upon in white society

That guy is a very good driver. I love the way he allows the carriage to cross before them!
He put his hand out to signal the traffic at the back that he is going to stop

1911 dirigir um “carro” é realmente surpreendente
He looks like a solid human being surrounded by a bunch of ghosts.
I could be mistaken but there's possibly a video somewhere else on UA-cam where the UA-camr actually finds records of the license plate and manages to not only find out who the family was (they owned some kind of business at the time and could afford a car) but they also found out that there are surviving relatives today of this family who live only a few blocks away from where this family lived at the time back then. I just don't remember what the video was called or who the UA-camr is.
@@RedceLL1978Ya I found an article if you put in the plate and year the article comes up from 2019. The husband came from Germany in 1895 met his wife same year married and had their first child of 6 in 1896. They were the Lochowicz’s family the husband died in 1918 left the estate to his wife. She lived until 82 and continued running the multiple barber shops through the depression only losing a few of them.
