This episode is part of an experiment called Meditation Monday. The teacher, Henry Shukman, has been on my podcast twice before. He is one of only a few dozen masters in the world authorized to teach Sanbo Zen, and now, he’ll be your teacher.
In addition to my long-form interviews each week, every Monday I’ll bring you a short 10-minute or so meditation, which will help you for the rest of the week.
Over this four-episode series, you’ll develop a Zen toolkit to help you find greater calm, peace, and effectiveness in your daily life.
Henry’s app, The Way, has changed my life since I first started using it. Unlike other meditation apps, where you’re overwhelmed with a thousand choices, The Way is a clear step-by-step training program guided entirely by Henry. Through a logical progression, you’ll develop real skills that stick with you.
I’ve been using it daily, often twice a day, and it’s lowered my anxiety more than I thought possible.

Thanks for sharing Tim 👍
I struggled when my thought was self criticism but could t figure out what bucket to put it in. But then realized that wasn’t the point. Peaceful and calming. Thanks!
I'd say that is memories or imaginings?
This is the first meditation i've made it through without either giving up or feeling as if I have failed. Thank you.
I also have found great benefit from The Way. I have studied in one of the same traditions, Sanbo Zen, as Henry and we have a teacher in common. And I think that matters very little.
What does matter is a sort of linear progress on paths and trails that builds a perspective on your practice, internal/external experiences, and the nature of who, what and how we are. Thanks Henry, Tim, and fellow travelers...
Many thanks, Henry(and Tim, for facilitating). Currently listening through "One Blade of Grass" and giving The Way app a try, enjoying both quite a lot. It feels...secure to have a guide for once, especially after years of off again/on again practice and recurring issues with anxiety and depression.
Loving meditation Monday!
Excellent meditation. I've been going through a stressful time recently and feel completely relaxed after listening to this! Really great way to compartmentalise our thoughts
This was an excellent guided meditation, much appreciated.
Wonderful, TY
Muito bom, The Way is amazing.
Is it ok to watch this on a Wednesday?
I wonder if you file an imagination what this means. I sometimes see and feel lovely things while I meditate. For example. I feel like I am on a little rowing boat in a deep blue sea and the boat very subtly rocks a bit even though its on open sea and there is no wind. Its really relaxing and feels like a temporary holiday. I dont know why I should drop this image (visualisation and feeling).

What’s he sitting on?
Can’t see it but possibly a seiza bench, a wooden bench for your butt with your feet tucked under.
