- Trek Emonda ALR Dream Build! I made an Emonda ALR 9 pretty much. I have a full SRAM RED 10 speed groupset, Spinnergy Z Lite wheels, a carbon fiber bontrager aeolus saddle, and continental tires. This build made me want to create a carbon killer that rides amazingly. The Emonda ALR was the bike I had wanted all along and thought it would be a perfect upgrade from the trek One Series 1.2 and it certainly is with it's amazing handling! I hop you all love this, stay vegan.

As I found my 2018 trek sl5 frame cracked and I’m planning to go back to aluminum frame, your video helped me gave just the information I needed! Thank you!
Of course, I’m really sorry to hear about your frame :( I’d try to claim warranty on it, where was the crack?
Hey the canyon ultimate cf sl rim brake on the ultegra mechanical version, comes out at 7kg from factory at 2,5k euros
So I’m in the United States and that’s about 2600 dollars. I did this build for probably about 2000 dollars but some of the parts were used and some I got heavily discounted so that’s very cool. Just goes to show you low weight doesn’t have to cost you big bucks anymore
@@swanauto47 yeah for sure, just commenting that because one comment you said bikes nowadays are to expensive and to reach the 7kg mark you need to drop 9+ k, so this was an alternative to that.
I'm too thinking about building my own emonda alr, with the sensah 12x grupo, is the cheapest thing ever and the reviews aren't that bad
about to go hit up Rob at trek of Algonquin
Nice build but with how light that bike is, you're probably going to exchange those Gator Skins at some point. Nice video documenting the selections less the terrible girly music we were tortured by.
How's the comfort being so lite with the ALR frame? I noticed them Emonda decelerated very quickly when letting off while slightly heavier build maintained speed with less effort. Trade off was obviously climbing or short sprints.
That’s honestly been my experience, with the carbon disc version of the SL with Ultegra it’s about 17.5 to 18 lbs and it’s definitely faster in a straight line. With this ALR it gives you that go kart feeling going uphill. The wheels are significantly lighter so it makes a huge difference. I took it on a group ride and it definitely feels like it won’t hold quite as much speed on its own in a straight line and like it will get tossed around in the wind a little bit in the sense that you don’t feel like you’re in a wake but the trade off is honestly so worth it for the overall experience at least for me
@@swanauto47 Thanks for the honest feedback. I've ridden all the Trek bikes and found this to be the most fun. I'm not racing but did notice light weight doesn't always equal fast depending on how your riding. Cheers. Enjoy the awesome bike. I love the yellow. I'm building the yellow Marigold to Red fade 22' ALR.
Thank you! I’ve heard many people say this feels better than the SL or SLR. Did you go disc or non disc, and what kinda groupset did you use?
@@swanauto47 I wanted the rim brake but honestly probably won't buy or build another bike for many yrs so I went disc to future proof things. Also I've seen disc Emondas run 32s. So for those 2 reasons I went disc. I almost got SRAM Red but came across a lightly used SRAM Force 22 HRD group set. 11-32 cassette, aluminum bontrager aero bars, on 2022 aeolus pro 51 wheelset, wrapped with non- tubeless Conti 5000's. Still need a few small parts before I get it all wrapped up. Can't wait and will keep this for yrs to come!
Sounds like such a sweet setup! How are the 5000s? I’ve thought of them and the idea of maybe doing Red etap 1x
What that a press fit bottom bracket?

11:10 It looks as though the colour of the fork doesn't match the frame
Sorry fam, that’s my lighting😅
@@swanauto47 Are you sure about that? The lighting is the same for both the top of the fork and the head tube and they're different colours. I say this because I have that same frame and the fork and frame don't match, just like yours. I complained and Trek stated that they were unable to provide a matching fork and instead gave me £150 credit.
That’s really interesting, I honestly never noticed but maybe it could be a bit off. What do you recommend I do?
@@swanauto47 Take it back to the shop and get them to ask Trek what they're going to do about it.
I have the same color and was also really disappointed that my fork didn't match. I didn't have that issue on a $300 frame I bought from another manufacturer. Heck the main reason I chose this Emonda was because of the paint job and then I found out my fork is a different color.
What’s the weight?
16 lbs without pedals
