Hmmm. I put 33 way up toward the top and Extra Texture toward the bottom. 33 - just love it. "No matter where you roam, know our love is true." Makes me tear up with those incredible guitars. Just awesome. "Smokey" one of the all time lost classics!
Nice job, Liked your review but if I did this Dark Horse would be number 2. I think that’s an extremely underrated record . A personal favorite of mine. Also “Don’t Let Me Wait Too Long” should of been a single!
Thank You for taking the time to upload this. Your analysis and commentary was all on point, regarding things important to me. I'm compling a wish list of music to purchase and George Harrison is definitely on my list, but I'm not familiar with his entire solo output, so this helped steer me in the right direction. But I'm also now more curious about Wonderwall.
1) All Things Must Pass 2 George Harrison 3) Cloud Nine 4) Living In The Material World 5) Brainwashed 6) Thirty Three & 1/3 7) Gone Troppo 8) Somewhere In England 9) Extra Texture 10) Dark Horse
My personal rankings: 1. All Things Must Pass 2. Brainwashed 3. Cloud 9 4. George Harrison 5. Living In The Material World 6. 33 ⅓ 7. Extra Texture 8. Somewhere In England 9. Gone Troppo 10. Dark Horse
I Love Love Love Gone Troppo. I could never understand why everyone seem unable to enjoy it. I love all the songs on it. It's an album I love to listen to all the way through. Thirty Three And Third is a super album. We both love Pure Smokey. I love the song Far East Man from the Dark Horse album. I have heard some call it the worst song on that album ha ha. But it's my favorite. On the Extra Texture album is mostly just the song You that I love. The self titled George Harrison album is great all the way through. I really don't like Cloud Nine. Some good songs yes but it's not an album I like listening to. Somehow Jeff Lynne didn't do it for me on that album. I don't like Brainwashed at all. I completely agree with All Things Must Pass being number one. Ram is the best solo Beatles album though ha ha. But All Things Must Pass should have been a double album with the Jam made into a single album for itself. I wonder if someone out there has Electronic Sounds as their number one. I bet they won't dare to do a ranking on youtube though LOL. :)

Nice concise video, and good to see Brainwashed so high. We disagree on a few things...no way would I have Extra Texture so high (to be honest I'd have it last place). I'm fond of Gone Troppo despite the production....Mystical One and That's The Way It Goes are both major Harrisongs for me.
ATMP is such a great album. So many great songs. I remember buying Extra Texture in about 1977. Hated it. I think I moved on to heavier music after that.
since I saw that you placed "Gone Troppo" so low, I just had to give my 2 cents. Yes All things is #1, but also "somewhere in England" is last, due to not such good songs. I like "troppo" because its fun and not down, also non religious. Here it is: 1/ All things 2/ Cloud 9 3/ Living in Material (songs as good as All Things) 4/ Brainwashed 5/ George Harrison 6/ Gone Troppo 7/ Extra Texture (Like the feel of this one) 8/ 33:1/3 9/ Dark Horse 10/ Somewhere in England
Nice job, Jason. Harrison's discography is sometimes a tough nut to crack. He's a melodic writer with killer guitar riffs and strong collaborators. However, sometimes his songwriting let him down and his thin voice certainly relied on sympathetic producers. I agree that ALL THINGS MUST PASS is his best collection of songs. Sad that Lennon & McCartney didn't give him more room, especially during the final years of the band. ALL THINGS... is a terrific double-album but saddled with a third (vinyl) disk of formless jams. Unfortunately, CD releases include the jam material and that diminishes the overall quality of the collection. The soundtrack to BANGLADESH concert is also worth having as Harrison tastefully covers some of his Beatles hits as well as the great songs from ALL THINGS.... It's an all-star cast (Dylan, Clapton, Ringo, Preston, Badfinger, Russell, Shankar) and historic for being the first major charity benefit event.
thin voice? George has one of my favorite all-time voices. I mean ... just listen to this little clip from End of the Line. You've got a few seconds of Tom Petty singing a verse and then George comes and tells us that "it's alright" and you just suddenly feel better about everything ua-cam.com/video/UMVjToYOjbM/v-deo.html
Good review and mostly in agreement... There is an early take (Demo) of 'Woman Don't You Cry For Me' that is awesome ( countryfied acoustic), it's one of my favourites by George but cannot stand the album version, don't know what he was thinking, he Ruined it...
You didnt include the Traveling Wilburys albums but then again would they belong in George’s discography or Tom Petty’s or Bob Dylan’s or.... You also mentioned “All Those Years Ago being one of yor fav Lennon tribute, in your Paul video you didnt mention how you felt about his tribute “Here Today”. ?
PS Don't read Rolling Stone Magazine reviews . Make your own . And what's is his best ? All things must pass ... because there's no other to match in that time . Later Cloud 9 is great . Living in material world is attempt to reprise All things, but ...no...I would go with his first Wonderwall album . It's crazy , interesting....
i’m goin through george’s albums rn, dark horse i thought was way better, and extra texture was just terrible to me, just so forgettable, gonna need another
Never went near George's records. Just liked the song My Sweet Lord (He's so Fine) and Bangladesh song? . Loved If I needed someone, donT bother me I NEED you and liked here comes the sun . Everything else including Something and While My Guitar ... Jesus why are these songs loved? Why do so many think George is a better songwriter than Lennon-McCarthy? I think I don't like the guitar sounds on too many songs and his melodies were usually generic. Clapton is way overrated as a writer but George and him did a nice job on Badge. I think Harrison wrote the bridge for Badge (Clapton misread bridge as badge)
All Things… is one of the most overrated albums of all time. Some decent songs and a lot of mediocre ones. The jams aren’t anything special and Harrison doesn’t have the chops to jam anyway.Harrison came up with a few good songs but most of his output is forgettable.
So close to 1,000 subscribers as I type this comment. Congratulations on that. It's well deserved given the amount of work that goes into this channel.

your love is forever may be one of the best ballads of all time that i have ever heard. The riff alone is amazing.

Oh forgot ... Cloud Nine' s "Wreck of the Hesperus" should have been mentioned as one of his more killer guitar grooves.
THAT and feed the dog.
Good luck with the purchases and enjoy the music!
Thanks for watching!

As much as I love "I live for you", it wasn't originally on All things must pass. It was a bonus track on a reissue.
Thirty three & 1/3 would be 2nd best for me, but overall this is very close to a quintessential George Harrison ranked discography
