I cut open a super tech oil filter that was on a buick/ gm 3.4 liter. It had the same ultrasonic welded on end discs. The filter did its job and there was no separation at all. Oil filters are made to filter oil THAT'S IT nothing more, nothing less.

If you keep your oil changed and you never rev the engine when its freezing cold out you wont have a problem with any oil filter. I have had new oil filters that wouldnt supply oil pressure put another one on and everythings ok

I'm curious how did you know the oil pressure dropped, do you have an oil pressure gauge, and what oil filters did this? I put a working gauge on my vehicle a couple of years ago, I've only tried two different Filter Brands, but have never had this happen.

I do agree that wally world supertech oil filter is fine.. as entry level oil filter. I'm a fan of its Warren made Syn SuperTech oil too. But I rather upgrade to better oil filter if its cost a few dollar more after all it is after your car you use everyday. Case in point, I drive a Lexus RX and I can its oil filter from Toyota for $6 a can Vs superTech $4-5 ish for its filter. So why not get something a little better.. your car will thank you for it.

My 2006 Fusion uses filter elements and all that I have seen for it have been felt ends and they seem to hold up ok. The reason I like the plastic cage is that there is far more open area for the oil to flow than the metal cheese graders.

@@jasonreid1332 That thread and what they are referring to is that Walmart has switch to having their filters made by Champion rather than WIX so in that regard, most of the Supertech oil filters that were made by WIX may be gone from the Walmart shelves by now, but WIX itself is not gone as a company and you can still get the exact same filters that were relabeled as Supertech and sold at Walmart however you would just need to cross reference the part number to the actual WIX brand or one of the other brands that are WIX but labeled as a different brand such as Napa Gold, or Mircroguard. The label on the box or newest color they choose to paint the can is irrelevant. What matters is the filter inside and who manufactured it. The WIX filter l purchase from Oreilly's costs $4.99 and for the quality it's it's a great buy. l usually purchase in quantity and take advantage of the frequent % off rewards Oreilly's sends me through email. Last time l took advantage of a coupon and % off l picked up 8 of the WIX made Microguard filters for $3.49 each. WIX has 11 production facilities in 8 different countries and employes over 3500 people. Walmart constantly switches from one manufacturer to another on many items, but l never purchased oil filters there anyhow.

Its a low (cheep) end filter. Fram has the orange can of death with cardboard end caps and Champion, who makes Super Tec and AC Delco filters has these ones with the felt end caps. Personally i would rather spend an extra $5.00 and protect a $12 to $15,000.00 engine. I use Fram Ultra on my Toyota. Very good video, one thing you people do that makes the Oil Filter manufactures happy is convince people to buy their more expensive filters. Keep up the good work! I think it depends on the SKU, but most of the BITOG folks that have contacted Champion Labs, the ones that manufacture Super Tech, ACDelco, K&N, Champ and LuberFiner, have said between 92-94% at 20 microns. At least a few of the MP SKUs guys were told 99% at 20. It's a good bet that all the MP SKUs use a different filter element. I'm still looking into if the ChampXL, ACDelco Gold, MP Super Tech, and K&N are all the same. If so, either K&N is WAY overcharging for their ip, or you get a great deal on the others.
