I’d like to see more of these kinds of videos where you break down actual game play footage and show what you were thinking , why you did what you did and what you could have done differently… thanks again 😃
Thanky, glad you like it! I was already thinking about asking the community to send some videos from them that they want to get analyzed in future videos
Wow. You remembered. Thanks very much for making this useful video. I finally understood the logic and know what stance, location and required speed to get ready for the next shot. Understanding the opponent capability in returning shots to which corner and favourite shots, we can actually tempt the opponent by setting up a shot for him to execute the shot to a location where we are ready to pounce, thus we cover less area. Playing a drive shot will know the opponent can't return a tight net drop so we can stand further back conserve energy with less steps to reach the shuttle. My singles game has greatly improved and my opponent thought that i moved at a faster pace. You are an awesome coach, love your videos.
Two weeks ago I found myself undoing some coaching one of my players got from another player after they were told to always go back to the middle after every shot. Thanks for the confirmation!
Aloha Coach Tobias, very key lesson basing position on opponent's return options. Great advice for all players in learning to anticipate shots and being prepared to return them. Thank you. Stay well.
Woooww amazing topic you have got this in front of us. I always wondered why my coach didn't teach me that for so many years.... I learnt it by myself watching the top class players in the closer angle (other than that bwf TV angle).... finally you bought this up towards us.... I'm really glad about it.... It means I can learn a lot new things from you in the upcoming days. Thanks a lot dude 👍👍🔥
Great video man 🔥🔥! Love from India ❤. After following your videos, I corrected my forehand, and it was very satisfying because I could hit better and powerful shots, felt like my potential unlocked. I wish I could have started with the lessons from this video, but I have mid foot pain at the moment(pain around the navicular), so gotta rest for another 1 month. Can't wait to play again 😁 I'd also like to suggest you to make a video on common situations which amateurs face in the game, such as opponent pushing harder into backhand corner and not recovering from that, improving the backhand etc. Also do let me know if I can get in touch with you, though I understand it may not be possible for you. Best of luck, keep going 🔥🔥🔥
Awesome to hear that the videos helped you to develop your game 😊 hope you are getting better soon so you can go back on court again! Good suggestion, i will think about some advice! If you wanna contact me you can use the contact form on my website www.tobiaswadenka.com 👍 All the best to you and kind regards from germany to india 💪
Hey coach, how best can I prepare for an opponent's return of my low serve, e.g. foot positioning, mentality etc? I sometimes get caught out when the opponent uses deception with his wrist and flicks the shuttle past me. For now, I sometimes use the flick serve myself to counter this, or I serve with variation, sometimes to his forehand and sometimes to his back hand.
This kept happening to me, how i solved it was stand like a meter from the line and in the middle. Hold the racket up like a certain german salute (to punish the opponent if they hit it in the middle). This lets you easily go back if you have been caught off guard, or lift it to the back of the opponents court if they low serve. If it’s in the middle, due to how youre holding the racket, you should be able to drop it straight away.
An off-topic question to you ! I am actually not able to reap the benefits of split step , Where I am going wrong!? I think in my timing of it , I used to do it before the opponent hits the shot as you told it and Badminton insight also ,but I also heard from many coaches and in videos that you have to time it just after the opponent hits the shot ,! I am in so much chaos, please help me! Also I have seen professional players (kento,Chong Wei) doing it something before the opponent hits the shot and sometimes just after the opponent hits the shot, I think the timing of the split step depends on the situation, or what? Please let you clear my doubt 🙏😊
Can you tell how doubles footwork routines are different from singles? In singles I know the standard 6 corners one, different combos of corners and front-back. But in doubles what would be useful to do?
In doubles you need a lot more jumps, turns and quick change of directions. We call it "one step footwork" so you always start but only do one step or quick jump into a corner and then return as fast as possible
I would like to see a tutorial on how to defend hard smash on the body. Instinctively most of the times I move my body away from the smashline and can only manage to hit the shuttle from behind my body what never leads to a point. I feel, that I probabely should move my body into the smashline. What could you advice?
Not good! Tobias !. The best stance in the centre of court is always a variation of the in-between the fencing and your present stance but not to wide feet apart, because the first shot we will be anticipating is the towards the body smashes from the opponent and if been been deceived, be quick enough to move away from the centre court and retrieve the away from the body and difficult shots, and especially for the right hander, the oncoming shots on the furthest left side. So long buddy ! Have a lot of tips and secrets of bestminton that even the best of Lin Dan, LCW, Taufik, Axelsen, LZJ , Ginting or Qi Shi Feng do not even realised. Most of the other players have the conventional and normal shots . Extremely good players observe, study, copy from top players, especially all the best possible movements , skills, tricky and deceptive shots and further on, improvised on new skills and more new tricky multiple shots and improve ceaselessly .

5:38 It looks like it is quite a low position. Roughly how low is it safe to rule out a cross net defence?
As in such as this video ua-cam.com/video/NvRzxr3Afk0/v-deo.html the first save looks almost the same height of the example.
