Woman Who Received Face Transplant Meets Donor’s Family | TODAY
I wish her all the luck with her new face, donors are amazing. "She saved five lives and then the facial donation to Carmen" So she saved 6 lives. Dont underestimate the incredible gift that Carmen got from your sister. She also got her life saved by this donation. Even if the donation only lasts 7 years like the last time, its still SEVEN years of normality that she got to have
I see how the family meant it- the 5 lives were likely organs and the other was Carmen whose body was beginning to reject the face transplant she had. I see what you mean but I just think the family meant it that way. The interesting thing is with the drug history I didn’t realize the body would be able to provide organ donation- due to the drugs in the system especially the liver.
No if they can just do brain transplant’s that would be actually cool to see
“You can kiss my face” that’s the sweetest sentiment ever!! 🥺
Such a beautiful thing to say❤❤❤
props to that plastic surgeon. incredibly challenging procedure.
Now this is bravery! I have an extremely challenging life. I have both ASD & ADHD and am widowed raising my 4 children with similar neurodiversities completely on my own. So hard I’ve often thought of giving up. Seeing Carmen facing her unimaginably difficult circumstances while staying positive is incredibly inspiring!
I’m so sorry for what you’ve gone and continue to go through. You are so strong! Never give up! You are needed and loved. Things will get easier for you.
Oh sweetie I pray Jesus takes some of your burdens away an gives you a new sense of happiness and peace 🕊️ stay strong your kids need you God bless you ❤️
Mollie don’t give up, I have a 10 year old with the same exact thing. I wish I can say it got easier for me but I still find our days very challenging. However, having a support system around you is important. Do you have Facebook? I can add you to the support group I’m in.
What a beautifuly kind woman. She told the family of the donor that she would love to meet them and they could kiss her face. Such strength and grace ♥️
She’s very beautiful inside and out❤️
Her speech at the end moved me. I’m in tears. I needed that today.
Casey is smiling down on her family, I am sure. What an amazing gift.
Wow what an awesome spirit Carmen has! The donor’s family is also so sweet.
What an amazing woman! God bless her, and may Casey Rest In Peace.
Such an inspiration. So happy for you, Carmen. Wishing you nothing but the best life has to offer. God Bless You!

What an amazing young lady. And what a great selfless family to allow her to have their loved ones face.
She’s amazing.
She’s amazing :o she’s so positive!
Love her personality and her outlook on life what a wonderful person thank God for the donor and their family

Wow!!! THANK YOU GOD FOR THESE 2 WOMEN!!!!!! WOWOWOWOW BLESS BLESS BLESS ALL THESE PEOPLE!!!!!
Carmen glad to see your doing well. A second transplant! Yes, you are amazing!
God bless you and the donor family for their generosity.
God bless the donor’s family…..what an incredible gift!!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻💜
Wow its amazing what our doctors can do these days. How strong is this lady though going through it not just once but twice. My heart goes out to the family who donated their loved ones organs and face... It must have been hard for them. Once they did their research and make the choice to donate I bet they now know yes it was the right decision. I hope they all get to meet up soon and remember the lady who's death also gave hope and life to so many after her passing.
What a strong lady!...wishin/praying for the best for Carmen!...God Bless!
Just love and hugs to all of you. ❤❤❤
GOD BLESS THE DONOR AND HER ❤️💯
Amazing uplifting story...you are a beautiful woman who has given me hope during my dark, dark decades of depression. Best wishes and God bless! 🙂✌👍🙏❤

Wow I feel so sorry for her I wish she can live her life happily
God bless this woman
Very brave woman 👩
An incredible strong woman.
don't go blk kiddo
she looks so beautiful too!! doctor did an amazing job
amazing .
Wowsers!
Their original faces look similar too! Wow! Very pretty both of them.
*I have been on the Organ Donor List since 1986, when I was 16.* *I even encouraged my sons to be put on the list, because God forbid any of them die, I would want part of them to live on.*
Such a beautiful thing for you to do. It's because of people like you that gave my brother with cystic fibrosis another chance at life. Sadly there were complications after the surgery and he passed but it gave us all hope because without it he was close to dying anyways. Despite my brothers outcome it's still so important to be a donor. Saves lives. From the bottom of my heart thank you to you and your sons.
Where to go Carmen I’m exactly like you I think negative people have something wrong with their own self
You're amazing
I love seeing the face transplants. Can't wait to see what she will do!
My ❤️ felt so happy for her when I saw her in this updated progress of her journey! Her face looks so much better, and her speech and breathing. It took me awhile to even notice but then I realized "she has hands!!!". She is such a beautiful soul, what an inspiration! 😄💙🧡
Beautiful woman
That's nice
WOW, the resemblance is uncanny!
Wow omg
Good for her!! She rejected the first transplant after 7 years? It that takes a lot of courage to keep going like that.
At the end of it all, we are all just souls getting by. And when our time is up, we are all just souls waiting for God.
Why is half the world convinced there's a god?? its especially weird because the other half the world is living through dictatorships and slavery and and starvation while we are living so privledged we can choose to give in to sky hallucinations our whole lives and call it faith.
Sorry if that's harsh i just don't understand why everyone speaks about theories as if they are factual. But i respect you're opinions.
@@meme-jl8hc how are you so sure they’re just theories??
It’s inner beauty that matters is the end
@@marcellecoelho8380 Diisorder is always start his theories
Praise God ‼️Go head Carmen Gurl‼️✝️🙏🙌🌻🌹💅🥰
❤❤❤❤
♥️♥️♥️👏👏♥️♥️♥️
❤❤
I think it’s a beautiful thing but the face transplants seem so scary to me.. I’m sorry but it just unsettling. I glad she happy with it though
i would not want anyone elses face
Drs need to do better
Her face fits better than most of the ones I've seen.
This is why I'm an organ donor
wow that's amazing
mark sloan vibes
Heyyyyyy
Why would they make a video of this
Why not lol
Because the young lady has the face of the donor why not honor of the donor in her memory
Have any face transplant recipients ever met their donor? 🤔🤔🤔
There is a UA-cam video where a man met his donor’s family. I don’t know the title though.
🩵🙏🏼
Why is there so much excess skin ?
Im curious about that too a lot of face transplants do that and i assume its because of a different face shape maybe?
I think they keep working with them over time?
why did she need a face transplant.
Her then husband attacked her using industrial strength lye.
A1 oh MY God 😭😭😭
@@wnm8888 thank you for your reply. he will pay one day.
@@williamhayes834 well, he died over three years ago in jail
@@simonfranc9422 did he die in jail?
1,000 like OMG
It's crazy thinking that someone generously give him a face so he can have one, but I'm afraid of the faceless cycle it will generate :( ...
I have yet to see a face looks normal. Just because they can do these transplants doesn't mean they should.
I mean I think it's more than looks. A face transplant is transplanting skin literally made for the face. In cases where her own skin is so badly damaged... New skin is important. The skin protects the inside of the body from bacteria, exposure, as well as numerous things. It's not just looks, it has function.
I dont like the results because its not functional
And how awesome it is that it doesn’t matter if you like it. This woman’s life was saved
Man kinda morbid walking around with a permanent dead face mask, like the lady’s face is stuck in the position it was in when she died. And now another person is walking around with it.
Some people are better off being used for their spare parts. Glad that junky's face is being appreciated by someone who values their life instead of the original owner who didn't.
If someone dies of drug overdose, how are their organs any good to donate? They are not healthy organs.
I guess the doctors studying these procedures for years would know best.. It clearly worked out in this case.
These face donations are not good, it always looks crazy. I haven't seen one that looks normal yet.
I agree
Yeah they look weird but how can they get better if they don’t practice....
@@Amanda-hl7xk these have been around for a long time though, they are not getting any better and honestly I don't think they will because I don't think that is for them to do. My sister got burned as a baby and had to have skin grafted, her own skin and it looks amazing, as if she was never burned at all. Her burn was a 3rd degree burn. Grafting is different. It just looks crazy to me and to do it a second time after a rejection. How many more people's faces are they going to rip off for one person for them to practice and turn out this way??
It's less about aesthetic. She won't regain full function, but she has eyelids now. She has a mouth. Also, the first full face transplant was in 2010. That is definitely not a long time for a surgery this uncommon and extensive.
@@ASmith-jn7kf I haven't seen a face transplant where they look worse than their deformity.
why didn't she find a black donor? her face would've been black and her body white?
Because of black-faceing perhaps🥁 lol
Why is interviewer sitting in a chair 2 miles away from Carmen ????
