It's a shame that there are so many bad guys around that when an innocent victim knocks on a door asking for help, the homeowner is afraid to even open the door. I am not in any way blaming the homeowner for her refusal to open the door because her fear is very understandable. They matched up the DNA later on the notes and finally had enough evidence for an arrest, but they really did jump the gun on the arrest. Image if they went around arresting everyone that owned highlighter markers.

What's really amazing is his wife was his main target and she was the only surviving victim.
