    What do the RG, diff, and int. diff numbers means and what it does with building an arsenal?

      @brandondriley 4 місяці тому +2

      They explains how center heavy (rg), offset (diff) and asymmetrical (int diff) the core inside the bowling ball is.
      Realistically for 90% of the league bowling population you don't need to worry about this, but are what the pro shop guy should be using as a guide to help recommend the correct ball to you

    What is a pro pin and 2nd bowling bowling balls? What is the difference between drilling a pro oin ball and a regular ball?

    • @brandondriley
      @brandondriley 4 місяці тому +2

      Bowling balls not made perfectly to spec, perfectly acceptable to use but sold at a discount. I believe that pro pin is when the pin length is more than 5"? 2nd usually is a result of the logo being improperly printed or the colours being a little off. The 2nd should roll just like a normal ball, the pro pin limited drilling options back when side weights were still relevant If your local pro shop sells you one of these at full price, find a new ball driller

    Love when y'all talk about mid-range and entry bowling balls.
    Q: Is it more important to be versatile in doing different types of bowling lines or being really good at 1 or 2 lines and building an arsenal that best keeps those lines?

    • @brandondriley
      @brandondriley 4 місяці тому +2

      I don’t think enough focus is put on the entry level balls but I’m definitely in the minority with my logic.
      For the second part I’d rather be well rounded and work on my weaknesses becoming more versatile instead of further developing my strengths.

    I think my brother asked but I’m participating in the youth provincials tourney at splitsville and we r bowling on a 41’ pattern. 3:1 I believe. I have a gb4 solid, paragon solid and a recently bought (used) night road Pearl (thanks jr pro shop again for drilling it. Works beautifully). I like to classify myself as a 1 handed, low rev bowler kinda like Simoo. 2 questions: is my arsenal enough for the 8 games of bowling or r there some gaps? And my second question is what ball do u guys recommend I use for my spares considering I don’t have a spare ball? (For context my spare shot technique is kinda straight but also not fully flattened) thanks in advance

    • @brandondriley

      Simonsen is playing human chess on the bowling lane. He does it by watching how his ball rolls and adjusting by managing his speed/angles to get the ball to hit the pins the correct way

    • @brandondriley

  • @airammitchell682
    @airammitchell682 4 місяці тому +1

    Question, do you believe you need to change the layout slightly for symmetrical bowling balls compared to asymmetrical since the drill angle doesn't do anything on them?

    • @jrproshop
      @jrproshop  4 місяці тому

      Good question, the drilling angle does become important with asymmetric balls, in that the smaller the angle is, and the more that mass bias marker is moved away from the thumb, the earlier the core will rev up and the ball will use its energy sooner. This is typically why symmetric balls hook later and are more continuous

    What is the difference between a cover dominant ball and a core dominant ball? How can I tell the difference. When is one type preferred over the other?

    • @jrproshop
      @jrproshop  4 місяці тому

      All balls are cover dominant, if you put a reactive cover over a ball with no core it will still hook. While a ball like the Radical Spy which has a polyester cover with a strong asym core it does't hook. Cover will cause more of a difference than the core inside!

    • @jrproshop
      @jrproshop  4 місяці тому +1

      The more times you drill a ball, the more of the core material is drilled away, so more than likely it won’t hook as much as in the past. It’s okay to redrill a used ball, but make sure your pro shop operator can map your PAP so that the next ball you get can be laid out specific to your ball roll

    • @jrproshop
      @jrproshop  4 місяці тому

      For fresh oil conditions, always start with your "benchmark" ball in practice. This is the ball you feel most comfortable with. Usually with a smoother, solid coverstock. Your Phaze II and Black Widow 2.0 should be perfect.

    • @brandondriley
      @brandondriley 4 місяці тому

      Use your warm up time wisely and try to get lined up to the pocket. If I am stuck between 2 balls, then it is a question of which ball I think gives me the most margin of error to still hit the pocket on a bad shot. What worked last week or which ball has the most fond memories is not very important. I will then start making small adjustments with my speed/angles/roll to find a way to carry. If that doesn't work, then it is on to ball #2 and I haven't gotten myself into any early trouble.
