As far as whats next for the Black Widow line, I would love to see a stateside version of the Black Widow Domination with the ultra aggressive cover. Envy Solid CFI is one of my favorite covers, putting that on a Gas Mask Core would be dangerous
Hi Nick, what are your stats? Helps to know if your PAP, Ball speed and Rotation are similar or completely different when making a decision. Widows have never let me down.
Gas mask core is one of the most versatile strong asymmetrical cores. I don't get good ball roll out of other strong asymmetricas but the black widows have always rolled well for me.
So, when the Black Widow 3.0 came out I bought it and bowled it nearly exclusively (3 leagues a week) for several months, even through the summer. By September it just kinda died. I'm told it's typical for high performance balls to lose their cover cohesion after a certain number of games, and that's what I found. I threw some polish on my 3.0 and now still throw it, but it's slot in my bag is now well down (below my Track Theorem). I know I could just buy another one, but I've resisted doing so because "new is better" (which isn't that true). I bought a Crusher and I'm not as happy with it. so, Q: Would the Tour Effect Pro work for that top of bag, tourney shot, or should I just go back and buy another BW 3.0?
It's weird. I owned a Widow for a little bit, but it did nothing for me. My Ebonite Thunderbolt D/B hooked & hit harder, and both paled to my Zone HPH. Maybe it was drilled wrong for me? I had the same experience with that white AMF XS back in the day.
As for the next Widow...Aggression coverstock has been around for a hot minute. I'm thinking maybe a black/blue or black/purple BW Pearl with a new coverstock + Hk22!
I have the 2.0 and the 2.0 hybrid. I try to leave the 2.0 solid in close to box cover. I love both of these balls. They fit my game well. Was thinking a 3.0. Maybe pin it down(since the others are pin). Thanks for posting this video
Great video I use a 2.0 and have never been disappointed. I think for me the 3.0 is too aggressive and I may try the hybrid. I did notice you using an interchangeable thumb what kind do you use and do you have multiple ones for different conditions?

@brunsnick thanks for the feedback. 17 on the monitor is my comfortable speed. I would rather go faster when needed, but for the SPI pieces I have, I tend to slow it down to 15.8 in order for them to shape right. The slowness actually makes my swing less consistent.
Nick, you mentioned that the BW2.0 Hybrid would be good when lanes dry up a bit. My league scores show a 30 pin increase in average between game 3 vs game 1. Is this common? The BW2.0 Hybrid has been my primary ball for most of the season up until Christmas anyway. I added a Teal Rhino Pro and have started out with that ball the last few weeks. Last week, jumped back into the BW 2.0 Hybrid for game 3 and shot my highest game ever of 253.

Hey there I'm a new subscriber from Minnesota I just want to say I love your videos Here's my situation I have purchased two new bowling balls to compliment my trusty venom shock... I got the storm pro ion and I got the harsh reality Pearl... Right now I'm on the fence between the 3.0 widow and the blue effect to round out my arsenal how do you suggest a purple hammer for dryer Lanes or when they break down Open to your thoughts thank you
Can’t really help you in comparison to competitors products because I have no idea. I’d think 3.0 would be the better option for the stronger ball in the bag. And make no mistake, the Purple Hammer is not for dry lanes or for break down. It’s a ball to start with to blend out patterns when reactive is too hard to control.
Niiiiiick, that brings to question. What do you do with all the balls you've been drilling? Was there every one that you didn't like/don't match up with?
Would the Hammer Effect fit in between The BW 3.0 and BW 2.0 or in between BW 2.0 and BW hybrid? All would be box condition. Love your channel by the way.
It would be a very strong choice, not sure if you need it or not. There are other options in the midrange if you’re just learning how to hook it. Vibes would be a good starting point.
I have the 2.0 hybrid with a slight pin up layout, a pink urethane with a pin down control layout...what would you recommend for the 3.0 if I added it?
I have 2 questions. I have my dad's 2.0 solid widow and it goes long which I like but doesn't really move down lane . And the layout is a strong but smooth but should I lower the grit to get it to have more motion , and my second question is I have the original black widow solid reactive single drilled so if the 2.0 solid gets too strong and I still need the asymmetric core should I have the original drilled the same way or with a pin down version of the layout for a good 1-2 punch
Sounds like you need a visit to your pro shop. I’d recommend getting your Dad’s ball plugged and fit your hand if it hasn’t already. As for the original solid, not entirely sure what a 18 year old ball will do for you. It could be a step down, hard to say. Pin down will lower the flare and make it less aggressive, but please, seek this info from your pro shop. Show him your gear and how you’d like it set it up in your arsenal. 👍🏻
@@brunsnick thank you for the advice. I will go to my pro shop operator Dave husted and talk to him. And I will get the 2.0 plugged and redone for me . Thank you

I saw that part. I was just wondering. Would the shine on the 3.0 make it store more energy and be stronger on the back or if it would still be sooner and not as strong.
Similar but different motions. If it’s not hooking enough, be sure to keep the surface on it dull like it came out of the box. Very important on dull balls.

@brunsnick Please help! I've watched your videos so much I have them memorized. I'm getting back into bowling after 20 years. (I average 160 through 6 games throwing a 1989s Rhino) I don't hook a lot and throw fast. My heart has been set on a BW 2.0 Hybrid. My local pro saw me throw a few balls and said it wouldn't work for me because I'm so speed dominant and recommended an Envy Tour. I went to pick it up tonight, and it was cracked between the holes. This HAS to be a sign to get the 2.0 Hybrid, right? I've been out of the game for so long that I'd rather change my game to fit a ball I like, instead of a ball I don't want fit my current game. Heck I saw a 70 year old woman throw a BW 2.0H, so why can't I? I'm not joining the tour any time soon. So for a speed dominant, low rev player, do I go BW 2.0H or Envy Tour?!?

Right now I'm on the fence between the 3.0 widow and the blue effect to round out my arsenal how do you suggest a purple hammer for dryer Lanes or when they break down
Open to your thoughts thank you
Can’t really help you in comparison to competitors products because I have no idea. I’d think 3.0 would be the better option for the stronger ball in the bag. And make no mistake, the Purple Hammer is not for dry lanes or for break down. It’s a ball to start with to blend out patterns when reactive is too hard to control.
@@brunsnick I just watched your envy video and that's the one I'm going to get now
Aloha Nick, does HK22 slow down lane shine?
Hard to say, but dull balls are always going to shine up as you use them. More important for those to be touched up with pads more often.
Thanx for the reply.
So if u were to take all 3 of those widows to a tournament what surface would you keep all 3?
I’d probably keep 3.0 at 1000-1500 by hand, 2.0 with 2000 and 2.0 Hybrid out of box shiny.
Great video but I have a question. What is it you are twisting into the ball? (timestamp 10:32 for example)
My interchangeable thumb insert from Ultimate
Just found you and subscribed. Are the cores the same on the 2.0 and 3.0? Thanks
Yes. The same. 👍🏻
Is there a White Widow bowling ball? I think that would look nice with either a black or red logo color.
The Ghost. And yep! Black logos, looks nice.
The ghost works best for me I love all of them. But the ghost is just different.
Where do you have your pro shop. Would love for you to work with me for a new ball. I currently use a BW 2.0 and an Absolute Inferno.
I don’t have a pro shop.
@brunsnick I have the hybrid 2.0 and a Nu Blue. Which would you start out with for a house shot league play?
If they’re really wet dry to start, then NU Blue probably!
Niiiiiick, that brings to question. What do you do with all the balls you've been drilling? Was there every one that you didn't like/don't match up with?
Usually keep them for a year or so and then they go in the splitter.
can that format be for no thumb 1 hand?
Would the Hammer Effect fit in between The BW 3.0 and BW 2.0 or in between BW 2.0 and BW hybrid? All would be box condition.
Love your channel by the way.
For me, it’s a little cleaner and more flippy than a Black Widow 2.0 Hybrid. Hooks plenty, just cleaner more abrupt motion.
@@brunsnickthanks for the reply.
what does flippy mean?
Sharp reaction on the backend.
Thx for the video .👍
I can see the how the 3.0 does it work in the midlane, vs 2.0 solid.
Would the 3.0 be good for someone learning how to hook left handed? Looking to dive into getting better and not be a straight bowler.
Sounds good to me! Strong smooth vs skid flip vs urethane.
I know it’s kinda rare to see but would you recommend this bowl to a full roller?
Depends a lot on how they throw the ball, not necessarily how they track.
Do you think 3.0 & 2.0hybrid is a good 1.2 combo?
Yes.
If you had to pick just one to use out of the 3 which one would you recommend?
If I had to pick for myself, I’m going 2.0 Hybrid.
Any comparison to the black widow legend?
Before my time with the Hammer brand.
Omg…you didn’t leave any 8 pins !! So disappointed 😢😂
Nick, what do you think of the black widow black and gold?
No idea sorry, that was pre Brunswick
Ok, thank you. Love your videos, very educational for me!
I don't know, I really like the look of that 2.0.
Would a new 78D urethane black widow make sense?
Maybe? The last BW Urethane was okay but the core is little strong for urethane covers I think.
If you had to have only one of these to take to a house shot tournament and you can only use one ball. Which one would you use?
2.0 Hybrid all day. I’ll get more use out of it longer.
@@brunsnick hell yeah!
How would you compare the 3.0 to the Phaze II……?
Idk much about competitor products sorry. 3.0 hooks a lot and it’s asym. 👍🏻
I have both the regular and the hybrid
Thank you
Thanks!
Thank you very much! 🫶🏻
This is off topic, but I was wondering if Nick or anyone else would have insight if The One Remix by Ebonite with surface would resemble a Mindset or Atlas. Thanks in advance.
Possibly! It does have the most differential and intermediate diff so it might be the strongest.
@@brunsnick Thanks for your reply Nick!
I run a 16lb ball right now an old ebonite Stinger 2. I am looking at a new Ball. With my current i run 17mph at the pins on the low end so looking at going to a 15lb for the new ball But with the speed i through trying to find a good one for starting to hook more. I always have curved the ball but last time i really bowled until this year was 20 years ago. Using the 16lb and doing a small hook i did good last week but i experience the fatigue part you mentioned in other vids with the 16lb to through that fast all night i run a 15lb spare when i need to your videos have been vary Informative so just seeing if you have any guidance too help. When i throw normal the pins fly like a small explosion so i do throw hard naturally i don't have to try. Any tips on best over all to get me started i do plan to buy 2 to 3 black widows just getting best starting point is what I'm after thanks again and thank you for the great vids.
You’re very high ball speed, look to the duller and stronger 3.0 to start. (Keep the surface maintained dull!)
@@brunsnick Thank you wasn't sure if the quicker back end mad more sense or not why it was hard thanks again I'll be buying one in next week or so
I’m getting ready to surface my 2.0 hybrid and my envy tour. Any advice?
If you’re looking to put the box surface back on them, follow each step starting from 500 and work your way up. 👍🏻
@@brunsnick that was my plan thanks
If you were to shine up the 3.0 and 2.0 hybrid same surface what would the difference be?
Hybrid still cleaner and sharper. Making the surfaces the same doesn’t make the balls the same. I talk about this in the video. 👍🏻
I saw that part. I was just wondering. Would the shine on the 3.0 make it store more energy and be stronger on the back or if it would still be sooner and not as strong.
@@tommarlow8277 compared to a 3.0 out of box, shining it would increase length and decrease overall hook.
When is an Envy Tour good vs the BW 3.0 on a house shot?
It flares less so it’ll be better suited when you really need to control the lane on flatter tougher patterns. Maybe even moreso on short patterns.
I just got the Extreme Envy but it does not hook as hard as I want it to. Does the 3.0 hook harder than the EE?
Similar but different motions. If it’s not hooking enough, be sure to keep the surface on it dull like it came out of the box. Very important on dull balls.
Ok thank you, do you recommend 1000 or 2000?
Hard to say since I have no idea how you bowl, sorry!
@@donlinsky75881000 for the highest hook potential
pink widow urethane is also so underrated and fits with this line perfectly. Purple stole away its thunder :(
All Hammer has to do is bring the 2.0 HK22 Pearl stateside or maybe a 3.0 HK22 Pearl? 🤔 😂
Hi, Nick I would like to talk with you, desiring help with bowling ball perfomance, thanks... Jim
I can help with questions here.
@@brunsnick Hi, Nick I currently use a purle hammer, phase ll and the hammer axe for spares. Have looked at the black widow 2.0 for some time, and of course the 3.0 made its debut, so i've watch you use them multiple times. I was away from the sport for years due to injuries but recently rejoined the sport. In the past I bowled 5 leagues a week, now working back into it. I'm unfamiliar with much of the new equipment. That said, I would like your opinion with the purchase of my next. ball, widow 2.0 vs. 3.0 I'm hitting 190's now no handicap, past history average was mid 200's with handicap. Any help would by greatly appreciated... jim
Miss my old blue Hammer!!!!
@@apostolic1Godbelieve you really can’t go wrong with either one. It’ll be a nice step up in performance from what you have currently. Also being the only asymmetrical core ball
@@brunsnick Hi, NIck my son got me a purple hammer overseas solid 15lbs, it was drilled by a friend of his that has a pro shop. I love the Hammers, I bowled the old blue through out the eighties. He drilled this one 3'' high and 4'' right of my left finger pin up. Needless to say its a workout just keeping in the pins, from any angle, burns its energy up before getting to the pins and hits flat. I've bowled about 40 games with it form one side of the lanes and back and its not gotten any bettet. I believe its drilled to strong. My Hammer Axe I use for spares, which I recieved at the same time, I can bowl it as a strike ball easily and get still get my spares. learning to bowl again after a couple of severe accidents and years away from the sport, making progress. I really like the Urethane Hammers, when bowling leauges years ago it was my pin killer and great at it. I would like to fine another great Hammer like my Old Blue, with its results. What can I do? The guy at the Pro Shop he wants me to go with a STORM PHASEII, for a Hammer man its a slap in the face. I'm looking for length and power into the pins, your right hand style is similar to my old way of playing, I like the outside. Any help or dirrection would be greatly apperciated Expertice, I really enjoy your platform and your way of relating to your audience, I get more from you than the so called pro's at our lanes, by far.. Would love to visit and have you analize my form and release. I battle a broken back, replace left wrist/forearm replaced left hip, right ankle bolted together, left knee and elbow broken and with 6 blown disc in my back. But Nick I'm refusing to give-up,I learned to walk again, I belive that I can bowl respectivebly again as i did in my leagues, we when to state my friend. Please do give up on me, I'll not give up on my self. I ran Auto parts and servive departments by pulling up my but straps, and working hard. I believe in you and you have a great eye. I trust what I've seen in your abilty. the thing is I've just forgotten so much about set up, line-up and a great delivery but I have the work Ethic to produce the results hard work brings..I've already gained some form of coming back, with no assistance, with you I can gain the improvement that I'm longing for. Please don't look at me as just another disabled guy with a drean. Thank you, For your time and consideration, from unforpunate events I find myself in this place, since full time employment isn't an option this sport gives me a goal that I believe I can obtain.. God Bless you for sharing your extensive knowledge with so many of us, we all greatly apperciate your kindness..

Jungo’s Back!
I rank the Envy Tour as the #1 ball of the year!
Are you throwing 15lb?
Yes
You could use either, if the BW 2.0 Hybrid skids too far you can add surface like the Envy Tour has .
@brunsnick Thanks. I actually ordered the 3.0 Saturday, so we'll see how it goes. I gotta say though, your videos are easily the best bowling videos around. Simple, straightforward and funny. Keep 'em coming. I know darn well I'm gonna be saying, "come on ball" when I try out the BW 3.0.
