@@lifedroid I know that nobody really thinks about this card but the GTX 950 was a god send for me. I paid 150 bucks for it brand new and that thing actually held me down until cyberpunk came out, and it would actually run cyberpunk, just not well. 1080p low settings, I got 30 fps with 1% lows that I don't want to mention. But it's impressive none the less

I want to let people know. this card is good for the money don't get me wrong, though this specific model is an RX 580 2048SP (obviously) meaning that this version of the card ONLY comes with 2048 cores and 128 TMUS. this card typically has 4 GB of VRAM memory. The other version of the rx580 is the regular 8 GB version loaded with 1304 cores and 144 TMUS also with a higher clock speed of over 100Mhz higher on the base speed making this card a lot hotter. this is also why the GPU shown in this video is very cool for a 580. rx 580s are very notorious for being hot cards ranging from 70 - 80+ degrees Celsius. I personally have an 8 GB Sapphire Pulse RX580 with these very same specs and it gets around 78-82 degrees Celsius. seeing those temps made me very curious and I decided to check it out. turns out it's a lower-end processor with extra VRAM. Well, I hope you people found this comment very educational and helpful.

Just an FYI, in my last build I had an Asus ROG RX580 8GB. And it played RE2 remake at ridiculous settings at over 120fps at 1080p. The card has value, and id love to see you guys use more budget cards in actual triple A titles.

As a 2048SP card it is technically an RX570 class of card. Although it is partially OK because AMD did officially release a cut down RX580 with 2048SP. If you want all the shaders there are "RX590" cards that seem to be an actual RX580. Although at that point I'd be seriously considering the 5700XT for $97 that keeps popping up

This is how I pulled off the $99 Gaming PC on my channel
Ran an 8gb rx 580 for a few years, thing was 150 at the time and ran anything I wanted. I'm doing a few give aways to family soon and this cards doing it.
Excited to the see the Xeon pairing, I am looking for a cheap GPU for my Z620 Dual Xeon.
I just order this card on the 19th, an a Machinist K9 X99 White, FrostFLow white 240MM AIO, with an E5-1660v4 (6c/12t @3.6ghz base / 4Ghz boost), for an all white build.
Just went ahead and bought one of these for £52 (inc VAT) after watching this video. Could prove to be a budget build lifesaver. Will defo be buying more of them in the future at that price, because damn...RX570/GTX1650 level perf for £50, and new? surely can't be beaten...
I didn't buy this exact card but the one I had delivered today cost me £41.42 including VAT. Such a good value card, though it does sadly only have a HDMI port.

that ia genuinely an amazing price for an rx 580
i paid like 275 for 32gb ddr4 2133mhz, x99 mobo, rx 580 2048sp and a 2690v4 cpu, not super fast, ofc its a server chip but it runs great honestly booting off an older 870 evo sata ssd comes in pretty close to my slightly outdated i7 build. (this server build was not for my everyday pc just for fun). aliexpress is not too bad assuming you know what you're getting.
Id like to see how 4 gig cards are holding up. I was using a RX480 (loved it), upgraded to a MSI 1070 (got it for free from a friend whom was upgrading it to a 3060ti, and needed some small trouble shooting.) But as of currently im chooching along on a r5 3600 + 1070. My (very) cursory research seem to land on (3070/4060) (RX6800/RX7700) class cards that it could handle before cpu bottle necking.
Id like to see more "What kind of GPU can a older CPU actually handle today?" Imho alot of techtubers seem to kinda ignore it. (and tbh, I get it, because not only do you need the cpus, but you need the motherboards too. and that takes space. lotsa space.

Yea you could get a lowish-mid cpu/mobo combos for cheaper than a GPU.
Most of Steves audience cant afford both. And since alot of peeps cant afford both so it would make perfect sense to see what some old chips can do/handle. Steve has alot of the resources to do it. But the amount of time and effort alone to do stuff like this that has the potential to just straight up not pay out all that well.... Its one thing to swap out graphics cards, its another to swap out a platform.
@@ZeroBlackfire I doubt anyone would buy 4090 to pair with first gen i5 😁 Face the facts, when upgrading their older system people tend to buy motherboard and CPU first. It is some kind of basic thing, your PC would work even with shoddy GPU, but it would not work without MB+CPU. Also, games nowadays are more GPU than CPU dependent. Your r5 3600 will run all the games there are, without much hassle. And there is cheap upgrade path of 5600. In fact, in AMD architecture you would need to go all the way to FX processors (Bulldozer and Piledriver) to get seriously bottlenecked by CPU. Therefore, this is not a interesting topic.

And im calling bullshit on that. I still have my old first gen ryzen build. Ive had both a rx 480 and a gtx 1070. Same ram config. Same mobo brand and model. Both cards behave differently (and more than by some margin of error) Games run smoother, and more than a hair bit faster. CPU instructions is just as much important as how many frames a gpu can push. Bought 2 different ones off Amazon with 8gb. One is currently in my desktop the other still in the box. Grabbed a RX 5500XT also one of these budget Amazon cards, all three under 100 bucks. Grabbed the Powercolor RX 7600 with 8gb currently in my Gaming tower. Replaced the RX 6600 8gb which is going in a new build. All the parts are still in the box. I have 1 complete build covered in plastic black and white theme. The boxed waiting one is my first all white, with the Lian Li Mesh 2 case and Deep Cool white tower with ARGB on top. All running AMD Ryzen CPU's. Been building PC's since 1995.
I want this graphics card but I feel so bad putting it in my system with the terrible salvaged case and sketchy old power supply 😅

What are the chances y’all have a video about upgrading a pc from that era to something more current? I’m planning to upgrade him to a newer generation and only keep his case, psu and old cdrom drive. I think it would be interesting to see y’all do something similar

Here's a good question: What's the power draw on that model? A RX580 should be running at roughly 185W, but that should realistically lead to it hitting ~65c capped out under full load, in my experience.
The temps seem strangely good for that amount of power consumption. Maybe there's some overclocking headroom available?
Original RX 580 rarely goes above 170W, and these 2048 SP are usually bellow 140W. These were mining cards/chips, so efficiency was important.
My chinese 2048 8gb 580 stays under 63c at all times. The fan hardly run and run quiet.

I have one. From the same brand. Only difference is that it's black.
It draws 140W max. But that can be changed by increasing the power limit. Temps stay below 70 degrees Celsius.
I run a 580 2048sp 8gb with an i7 4790 in a dell xps8700 and the cpu never breaks 50%.
I've got it on a free optiplex 7010 MT from work and i7 3770 and it also never breaks the same threshold.
I don't play cpu intensive games but it works like a dream with an sapphire nitro rx580. Regular production tasks sees 10% max usage which is actually insane to me for a 10 year old CPU lol

The rx580 8gb 2048 is a really solid graphics card. At the price point, it's value can't be beat. It's not a Lamborghini, but it will render games efficiently at 1080p. Better upgrade would be the rx5700 xt.
I swapped out the R9 390x video card in my system (9590 AMD) to a 2070. Still miss the AMD R9 390x 😢

A 8gb 580 and a 3rd or hell even a 2nd gen xeon e3 1230 are the bare minimum i will consider in 2023. Barring that old of a cpu, a ryzen 5 2600 or 3600 is similar with better lows.

I saw Dawid Does Tech Stuff's video on that card, it performs super good and has great temps also. I wish I could afford to get one of those. I have a 600W PSU in here even with old ass parts mostly (Ryzen 5 3600 and a 1660Ti, oh and while I have a 256 gig SSD for Windows etc. I also have a 1TB hdd that I wish I could swap for a 1TB ssd lol) so I could totally run that card in here. It'd get bottlenecked by the cpu for sure though and my RAM is DDR3 after all, so not sure if it'd be a complete waste of money. I don't have the money anyway, but one can dream right?? lol

Too expensive for the performance. Optiplex build supposed to be cheap, and low profile 4060 negates all of that.

Why you don-t menchmark e-football? Most of the guys play football, e-football is not 'playable' for many cards. Can play on low settings but still eye heavy.

AMD literally says that all the Vega GPU's will be deprecated later this year. So buyer beware. These videos are trying to get people to buy up all this left over stock. I would not do it.

No offense, but medium settings at 1080p? Thats not very enjoyable, imo. Get an AMD RX 5700xt from Ali instead. Even an RX 5700 non-xt would be a better deal.
Especially since this 580 2048 is basically a 570 with 8gigs of Vram.

Knew it was an RX580 w/I even watching. I had an iMac with one in it and I’d Bootcamp Call of Duty and was getting 100 + frames midhigh / and 150 _+ midlow.
Got a 1080ti build now w/i7-11700k, I get way higher frames 1440p vs 1080p. Read something about it having to do with 1080p not pushing gpu or cpu enough so it keeps the gpu at lower power or something. Anything anyone?

anyone on a budget this tight who wants to play now (and not save up for more months, with no gaming meanwhile) that card seems to be a "not bad pick" esp for that price! and on that budget they wont be trying to play CP77 or Starfield anyways i would imagine, and alot not so high end games should be fine with low to med settings ^^

If you Google user benchmarks for the 580 vs the 1060, it says some games run better on one and some games on the other. Overall the 1060 gets the nods in more categories besides games.

Original RX 580 is significantly better than 1060, these 2048 SP are roughly equal.
Please, do not use that website. It's heavily biased against AMD's products.

So, I haven't kept up with gpu stuff in years now - mostly because I just don't have the money to upgrade due to losing my social security and what not a few years ago. I do watch a ton of tech videos though. I am curious though - I have a 1660Ti so, would a $60 RX 580 be any sort of upgrade to my 1660Ti, or is my card already better performing than the RX 580? It does have 2 gigs more of vram, but I feel like a card from 2016 (they kept saying 7 years old in the video) but maybe released in 2018 isn't any better than my 1660Ti which I think came out in 2019 or early 2020?

No, RX 580 2048SP is not an upgrade for you. First, there's a big difference between a standard 580 and a 2048SP one (I advise looking up the differences), 2048SP is weaker. Don't pay too much attention to the VRAM amount. Your 1660 TI is built with a better architecture. It should and I think it will give much more FPS. 1660 TI also has a lower TDP. These RX 580's (no matter which one) that are sold as "new" are pretty much refurbs. Some components on them are new, some are used. The shroud and the fans are almost always new, but the core and the PCB are almost always used, fixed, refurbed or something like that. Most sellers say that on the listing.
While these RX 580's are a decent deal for someone who doesn't have a GPU or has a very old weak GPU like GT 730, it's not something that someone with a semi-modern GPU should be looking to buy. These RX 580's have driver issues in a few games that are unfixable. It's really rare, but if you play one of those games, it'll suck. I advise against swapping your 1660 TI with this RX 580.

The 580 will be a downgrade from your 1660 Ti. The 580 is more like a 1650 super equivalent in terms of performance. For reference you can use techpowerups gpu performance chart to give you an idea of what cards will be worth upgrading to.
The only thing that tastes delicious about that cereal it's the cardboard box.

Windows messes with the drivers from AMD GPU's... I decided to go back to GForce... NEVER AMD again after a huge struggle...

Card is more than ok for games released in PS4 era . It could run CP 2077 at 1080p med with 30-40 FPS without FSR . This is better than playing CP on PS4 .

Most "American" food is perfectly fine. It's the pre-packaged, garbage crap you have to worry about. I feel like most countries have to deal with that crap also, but we do use more preservatives and sugars than most countries, and many of the chemicals used in our food stuffs are basically banned in other countries. Which scares the crap outta me lol But if you are talking about actual food food, American food is just as good (and safe) as any other food.
