Another good video! Q45s and M45s are definitely overlooked. I love the looks on peoples faces when I'm Driving by in my 08 M45 Sport with straight pipes. I have owned alot of cars and none of them had the total package like my M! Luxury, performance, and style wrapped in one! Nice to know people like yourself take notice and pride in these cars like I do, 👍
Post some videos of the car. Let's see it
My 06 M45 was Muff & Res Delete.. I loved the looks you're referring to 😆
M45 is where it's at I have an 06
@@lightningstarsky i am currently having a serious battle within between the m45 & m56. I found a g37xS for under 12 but they're nowhere near the interior comfort/room. And the storage sux butt cheeks too on the g's 😆
@@mikeschaner5853 the M's won't let you down in any way
Love this Infiniti Q45 was my first luxury car.
Never disappoints. They might have been plain looking back in the day, but in today's age of obnoxious car designs, I really like the simplistic beauty of the Q45.
I just bought a 2003 Q45 premium, I pick it up in a few weeks. Some great information here , thanks
Ty for sharing.. we have one 2002 Q45..it had so much stuff on it and we needed to know all of the luxuries..I appreciate u sharing all details 😊
Enjoy the ride. I really like mine
I know a couple that bought a 1997 Q45 brand new and now it has almost 200k miles. Still drives like a tank! Original motor and transmission. I hate that the Q45 didn't get the marketing it deserved. That car could have very well exceeded pass the Lexus LS because #1 the Q45 came stock with a 4.4 until they switched to the 4.1 liter and the Ls had a 4.0. Plus all the technology that was packed into the Q45 in the late 90's and early 00's, the LS didn't get until the 00's... Nissan failed the Infiniti Q45.
Man Q45 was way ahead of its time, I hardly see any on the road.
My fav. infiniti is FX45. When I saw infiniti FX45 in 2004 for the first time, I just fell in love with the FX. Finally I bought one in 2016 a one owner 2004 FX45, amazing and fun to drive vehicle.
The FX looked odd at the time, but I’m pretty sure they were the first fastback sports suv type things. At the time it was just a “crossover”, but now it still looks better than an X6 or other newer and more expensive vehicles. FX45 was a beast.
I just got a 2002 Q45 and am pretty excited.
Thanks for the thorough review and comparison!
I’ve gotten to 147mph in this car
I don't doubt it. If well maintained, it gets to the triple digits with no fuss.
@@EdBwoy what ha mean slight detail
Great video didn't know much about these cars until now.
Awesome! Glad to be of some service
I love my 04 Q45! Mine's black with the black interior, and the 18 inch chrome wheels! It's a damn sexy car
I got the 05 same color and interior. Nobody knows what we have. Even all my friends who are car guys were confused when i pulled up. Its basically a Mustang mixed with a Mercedes. Super rare car too
I thank you for this video. It’s great to see someone appreciate these Qs and let the others know about it. I personally have 97,99(totaled), 03, and 05 Q45 cars.
Obviously, this car was never made to be a drag racing car but it will easily take on most 4 or a 6 cylinder stock cars, keeps up with a lot of v8s.
...and it keeps up with great luxury and refinement. I think what we have going on is the element of surprise. It is a gorgeous car, but looks kinda boring and just doesn't scream "fast car". They never see it coming
After watching the whole video it was interesting to know some of the Q45s were more loaded with features then the newer M45s. Mine appartly has the 4wheel steering and adaptive head lights that turn the same direction you turn the steering wheel!
Yeah, remember the Q45 was the flagship including 2006 model year when the Y50 M series came around. The M series was a technological masterpiece no doubt, but the Q45 was a hallmark of refinement.
Looking back I think it was too good of a car that we didn't deserve yet. They actually came without foglights either; the headlight beam pattern covered a whole lot of ground.
I've had and loved my Q45 95. Big bot at the red light one day Mercedes and Bmw pulled up I'm looking at they whips and they're checking out mine it was Kool. Great machines 😂
would it be beneficial to wait until all the beepings stop then turn on the ignition? Just wondering.
I have a question about my 2005 Q45. What are some of the things that would cause the cruse control not to engage?
Does it have intelligent cruise?
I have a 20002 q45 and it burns a lot of gas. My cousin has a lexus ls 430 and what a difference in quality and gas mileage.
i have a 2003 q45 in gold color yellow woodgrain
Where can I find that grill on your supercharged version?
Infinity needs to bring all of those features and options back I think it would make it sell much better
It would be a nicer car for sure, but I dont know if they'd sell that well. By the time people are spending those sums of money, some buyers start snubbing the Infiniti brand name.
They make some questionable decisions though. Like that Q70L that doesn't really offer any rear amenities; just a little more leg room and soft close rear doors.
I always knew they were good, just not THIS good! As cheap as they go for, getting a loaded one and catching up on maintenance could provide you a much nicer car.
I like those 02 Q clusters over that overwhelming orange in the M's. Much more nuanced.
Agreed! I have no idea who or how the orange was approved for that long in all their cars, but sometimes it's good to look to the past for design ideas.
This is a very refined car. Shame, they had to stop
08 and up finally got the better illuminated lights in the cluster. Nice blue color!
The orange interior lights make me want to get rid of my 07 M, no lie
This year Q45 and my older 2001 I30 had the same colored lights, and I found them to be particularly beautiful
@@liblib89 I believe you can change them. Research online. I got lucky and bought 08 they changed to blue lights looks amazing
You can, but that is more involved than I care to get into my car, but maybe one day I'll do it..if I keep the car..who knows@@fredwilliams7893
Edbwoy I subd in its only afew of us
Thanks for the great video, can you make another video talking about it's reliability, and the issues you had, and the cost of the spare parts, am planning to get one instead of Lexus LS430, and I need to know if it worth.
I haven't had it long enough to have an opinion on long term reliability, but my experience on the forum is that these Infinitis of this time period are usually very stout.
Reliable and shared many parts with standard Nissan parts. The only ridiculous part is the suspension, but for a discontinued luxury sedan $1000 isn't too bad for a brand new suspension on all 4 corners.
Otherwise, they don't break often.
And thank you, I appreciate the support.
@@EdBwoy no don't do it I had one just crash it and total it I love the car but it was so expensive to maintain one headlight cost 500 on eBay shocks 700 a pieces don't have any issue with the engine ohh no besides the high maintenance it's a good car
@@duddaman254118 what should I not do? I already own the car. I'll be replacing the headlights with used parts
I have a 2006 Q45 do you have any recommendations for the front struts and where to get them
That is a big downfall. My 2002 had that issue (in an ‘06 now). It is adjustable suspension which is why it costs so much. I got mines from the junkyard. Rode it until the front left strut broke and the spring kept it from popping out. There is a K sport kit for like $1100 on Ebay brand new. The oem struts you might be able to find for $1000 brand new if you’re lucky. Valve cover seals go bad in this car too. Really the only issue I can think about this car. The damn valves in the motor are titanium.
Looking to make a purchase for one of these for my next ride.
Very good value for money, get it!
I have a 02 q45 and I’m looking to start a build very similar to your blue Nd black one, but I don’t know where to begin. Helpppp please
I wish I could take credit, but I bought it complete. Its still sitting here waiting for a teardown, lol
love the video!!! Can you show us the performance difference between the NA and the supercharged q45?
Hahaha. If I can get a willing partner I'd love to. Although I would love to compare an 02 and 03 NA first, to see how dramatic the difference in differentials is
Oh, one of them is allergic to snow. Guess which one
EdBwoy I have a stock 03 q45. I could upload a 0-80 mph if y’all need!

Btw, in my previous comment I meant to say I want to compare a 2002 versus a 2003 first, then maybe get an 03 stock versus 03 supercharged
EdBwoy oh I see. I live in Alabama 😅
Have a maxima and will possibly get a q45 soon, never knew why my windows would roll down when I unlocked it until now lol.q
My maxima is what got me introduced to this world.
All the best in your search
Hello, I just purchased a 2005 Q45 recently. Anyone know a way to add aux in this car without using a tape to aux?
did you ever figure it out? sorry for being late lol
Bro ive had my Q about 7-8 years and have never knew about the automatic windows using the remote!!!!! Is there a way to let them up?
Yeah but you’ll have to use blade key
Yup! Nissan still hasn't allowed us to roll them up remotely. But this company usually makes modules for that kind of stuff - *KPTechnologies*
I got a gold 03 premium I bought from a auction for $800 all it needed was catalytic converters.
Awesome! I hope you enjoy it
If I would want to buy a new one.. what would be top of the line luxury infinity?
At this time it would have to be the SUV, QX80. The big M/Q70 sedan was discontinued past 2019 and the crossover FX/QX70 also went away.
But wait, they have been teasing the Q80 among other concepts.
hello my q45 the radio and voice went out ,, how can i fix them
Start by checking the fuses. The radios on these don't go out often, but it's possible. Still, I'd start with the fuses. It's free and quick
Is yours a premium model?
yooo where do you get the parts for the blue one trying to add some stuff to mines
Sorry, I bought it exactly like that
I need some wheel speed sensors every part for this car is like 400$ sht crazy
Дуже корисна інформація, дякую
My i30t is a dream
What made this car great was that from 2002 to 2006 when it was around no other full size sedans could outrun it. 745/750, A8 or S500. This car was the most reliable of the 4. Notice I left the LS430 out. It was beyond slow, but as comfy and more reliable than these cars. Boring car though. Also, as you can see this premium model has everything. In 2002 this was the first production car in the US to have a backup camera. The car also had ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL. Not many cars had this feature. Mercedes came out with it 1998 and called it disctronic.
I agree bro I have smoked so many cars in the q45. Top end on this motor is incredible. It's also one of the lightest cars in its class at 3800lbs.
So underrated.
Not the fastest by any means, but probably the fastest + most reliable + most luxurious + most technology at its price
I had a 2003 q45 the top off the line modle somebody hit me and total it just 3days ago let me tell u I love my q it was a fast beast same color white it was compared to Mercedes s class
Sorry for the loss man. Glad you're here to tell the story.
How much did insurance value the car at?
I Was Thinking About Getting A Power Sunshade From A I30 Or Q45 I Wonder If It Will Work???
I think from old pictures, they look different and mount different, but someone's gotta be the guinea pig. Lol
You also need to get the proper rear parcel shelf that allows the shade through
EdBwoy i found one on eBay for a M35 i know its very rare in the M35 i don't like how the reclining seats are designed in the M35
@@fbodyws6ta why not? Are you comparing them to any other car's seats?
EdBwoy they are just designed funny i saw the same crazy looking seats in a 2013 Nissan Cima VIP Hybrid they are i like the standard seats in the 2004-2010 Nissan Fuga GT 350/Infiniti M35/M45
Several questions: How reliable are they? What are maintenance costs like on Q45's? What's the gas mileage like?
Reliable? Yes, very much so
Maintenance costs - fuel, tires, oil, filters, and perhaps suspension depending on age. Not much else
Fuel economy? It's a large V8 sedan with 340 hp. I've gotten 25 mpg on some highway trips, but in the city, I typically saw 18 mpg. That all depends on how and where you drive.
*The 2002 Q45 gets better fuel economy than the later years
@@EdBwoy I appreciate the information brother!
Hey Ed you know I love to "Swap it Out". The updated intake manifold cover, since the throttle body is on the side in the earlier models and in the front on later, can I use that intake cover on my 05 FX. On the Q45 above it looks like the throttle body is on the side??? Man I love that open top intake cover!!!! Damn it should have got an 06 for upgraded amenities. But I do love the old analog look of the 03-05 console. Yon know plain shifter with no bag lol. Also do you have an email? Would like to send some pics of my FX and the upgrades I'm doing. I do most of the work myself. Thinking about doing what you're doing for the FX peeps. Couple of guys in my neighborhood are starting to bite the style lol so now gotta hit the upgrades hard. Keep up the good work homie!!!!
Unfortunately the engine covers aren't directly swappable. I'm pretty sure with enough work you can relocate brackets and cut up the cover too. I'll try to take a pic, but it doesn't look as good on the earlier manifold because it's not as rounded.
Maybe one day I'll be able to venture into the FX as well.
EdBwoy atGMAILdotcom is my gmail btw
@@EdBwoy LOL 10..4.. and Dang it Man!!! Well with that being said, I think I'm going to have to dive into the intake manifold swap. Found the upper and lower for a really good price awhile back but someone beat me to it. Getting my muff put on this Fri.. I'll upload a clip so people can tell how good...or bad it sounds;)
Darn! To think I was giving away my intakes for free and No one wanted them, so I scrapped them. Oh well
What are you going to do about mating the throttle body? Or how are the FX TBs set up?
@@EdBwoy I was going to consult with this speed shop here called Z1 motorsports and my new Nissan mechanic friend. Z1 has an upgraded throttle body just need to make sure everything lines up. Funny thing is they mainly know VQ's but advertise stuff for the for the FX45.They barely know VK engines with the exception of the VK 5.6
@@zoehaze Gotcha. There are some things people have been doing with the VK56DE, including using the VK45DE manifolds because of the dual runners. I know some go with bigger throttle bodies, so that could be an easy task for the shop if they can apply directly to you.
Do you know the bore diameter of your throttle body? It's interesting that it uses the side inlet like the early M45, but the TB is all electric.
Don’t know wether to get this or the Town Car
If you drive yourself, get this one. If you have a chauffeur, get the town car.
Currently I'm trying to restore some of the luxury features of my Car. There is only one door still soft closing while all other three had clearly gone. Do you happen to have any experience about how to fix these on any of your Infiniti sedans from the same period?
Question is, were the others ever soft closing? Sometimes they only put the ultra-luxury features on the VIP seating area (rear passenger side). Or does the owners manual say all 4 doors should do it?
No experience with the system yet, but I'm pretty sure we can figure it out.
@@EdBwoy that's a very good question. I've been wondering about the same since my car only has the rear right passenger seat doing that. Will check the manual thoughly.
@@EdBwoy my car does have the reclining seats in the back. But it doesn't have the footrest. I've seen the Japanese version in Japan. The standard one doesn't come with the sunroof like many other Japanese domestic cars. And the car doesn't have the rear blinders. They use direct-injected 8 cylinder engine well the American Infiniti Q45 and the Chinese Nissan Cima has the vk45de. They've got the front passenger seat equipped with foot rest. I'll find a way to show you some of the pictures of my car if you're interested. the reason it wasn't sold as Infiniti in China was because Infiniti wasn't popular yet in 2004~2005. So they were sold in the Nissan dealership and try to bringing this luxury flagship to the Chinese market however nobody paid any attention as they only sold very few of them throughout the country and finally end up selling the last few cars half price. It's the same situation for the Lexus LS series in Chinese market for a very long time until recently. People mainly brought the German competitors on the full-size luxury sedan segment, people do love Toyota and Nissan it's just they don't think about the Japanese brands when they about to buy something this big and expensive. The Lexus GS ES had been successful, while the Infiniti m series still waiting to be recognized.

Does it sacrifice reliability in the process of being over-engineered?
In this case, thankfully no. It might need one-off maintenance items here and there, but generally it is a reliable platform with minimal attention.
@@EdBwoy I love these cars, only wish mine wasn't so quirky. it takes special kind of owner, the patient kind.
Doesn't get nearly as much credit as it deserves, but that means you can still get them cheap in good condition.
Agreed. Amazing build quality too.
Idk if I said it in this video, but a cheap neglected Q will probably look, feel and drive better than a similar year cheap, neglected German. Low maintenance gems
How big would you say is the back seat?
I would say they are spacious and comfortable for long trips for most adults. My people and I are just above 6 feet tall
@@EdBwoy That's exactly my height! 6 feet, and I never put the front seat "up" for anyone. So I test back seat room with the seat back all the way. An Audi A8 L was pretty comfy, as was the front seat in a Maserati Ghibli (at a car show...) I been in search of the largest Japanese car back seat and I don't really like Lexus. So I'm thinking this be the largest Japanese car back seat! Especially if you are an inch or two taller than I, I'm 6ft 😀
@@82_KID yup! I'm 6'2" fairly even between legs and torso. I usually do the sit behind myself test.l whereby I put the driver seat comfortable for me, then I test that side of the rear seat.

How's the reliability? I'm looking at a 2000 with 132k....
Pretty good for the class I'd say. No surprises in ownership
Would the '02 model still be good buy?
More power less weight. I would say it’s a good buy
Yeah, I think they are good vehicles
I've never even sat inside this generation of Q, but im willing to bet the interior quality and fit and finish is superior to the 06-10 M45s, this is one of the last cars before Nissan's restructuring led to them cutting costs across the board. Even my 2001 I30 had superior build quality than my M45 does imo
It is better than the 06 M. This was the flagship and the fit and finish is impeccable
well aint hard to beat the 06 M fit and finish...when it comes to nissan that is..the 06 M45 fit and finish is still leagues above a STS or CTS, or a BMW of similar years imo
do these still have oil consumptiion issues like some of the M45s??@@EdBwoy
@@liblib89 you must have gotten an M45 with a very rough past life. You seem to really dislike it. Lol
Anyway, true. The 06 M was made with a different goal in mind, and the sales numbers speak for themselves (compared to other Infinitis).
I find that all my VK45DEs (yes, including the Q45) use some oil, just like any other modern car I've owned.

I'm an owner of the Q45 in China. However our version was badged under the name Nissan Cima. however it's not the same like the Japanese version. I can see it is almost clearly like the premium version Q45 in your video without the navigation and adjustable suspension. And I took out the screen and found the circuit board was labeled North America in Japanese signs. In comparison the Japanese version circuit board was labeled as domestic in Japanese signs.
That's interesting! Does yours have reclining rear seats? I know other markets could get a very luxurious VIP ride where the front passenger seat could be converted to a footrest.
I'd love to see pictures of yours
@@EdBwoy I think the real equivalent JDM model for the Infiniti Q45 that you guys have in America along with the premium package IS then Nissan president F50. Although they comes with a very different exterior design but You can tell that from the gear lever handle and many other parts of the interior. But they do have many more things to play in the back seat though. For instance the TV set above the center air vent in the back. The standard Nissan cima in Japan was not as equipt as the Q45 as they don't share same interior panels in many places. The best one in the lineup was the VIP model Cimas which comes with four seats inside of five and some special device over head in the back seat and some table trays for the VIPs.

I don't fully understand how Nissan decided some of these things. In the US starting 2004 you could get a Nissan Maxima with power folding mirrors and that 4 seater option (they called it the special edition). So their premium Nissan got some features that the top of the range Infiniti could not.

Indeed. Crazy to think of it this way, but the Q still looks great on the road almost 20 years after being released, and they stopped production 15 years ago!
This design was ugly! A far cry from its immediate predecessor.
