some fresh bacon is being made in the background
I think it was raining outside of his garage / studio 🤔...?
LOL yeah it's been raining for like 5 days straight here in California
fightTIPS that explains all the rain in Vegas recently
@@fighttips haha oh well, no draught soon then in Ol' Cali. In Europe we've got the snow coming in, just for the coming skiing vacation in 2 weeks :)
Some times rain sounds like that
A great knockout punch when executed as shown. Thanks for the instruction. How about a video on the Liver shot?
*Bas Rutten has entered the chat*
the liver shot is the perfect followup and compliment to the overhand right.. ur there ,in the pocket, so let it rip!
William Davis or a punch to the dick head
Jesus the kids are watching. That is about as painful as a nutshot
I once sparred with a tall big guy, who could block any attack I threw and had better reaction time than mine. I wanted to hit him but I couldnt until I remembered your one video where you showed the overhand right against a big guy so I tried just before our sparring ended, I took a step slipped where he was expecting a body punch or straight and punched him right where he couldnt even notice it, it was amazing I could go against such a big guy with such a simple move
What's step slipped? Sorry my english is not very good. But I can tell you to see Mike Zambidis and see how KO big guys with the overhand.
@@NachoX sorry, I meant to say that I took a step and slipped under him (moving my body to a place he couldnt hit me due to his tall body) and then right when he would expect a body shot I went for the overhand right and he never saw it coming
Shut up he beat your ass
@@realestateking5219 how do you know dumbass u probably sitting infront of your moms computer eating chips while talking shit to other ppl online I bet you cant even fight
GamingProBG GPG yh this guy is a triggered tall lanky twat
Every boxing/MMA coach ever thanks you for this video
Did anyone else think it was mikey garcia in the thumbnail
Exactly what I thought lol
Me lol. His hair and stance right? Mostly hair though.
Fr bro I just clicked cause I though it was Mikey
:)
I thought it was Ryan Garcia.
Joe Louis is the one who said to "Throw it like a baseball."
Remember Chuck liddell's overhand right knockout of Alistair overeem?
Remember dan hendos overhand right on bisping
@762x35mm which one?
srinivas kumar Chuck Liddell listen to how he throws a real overhand right !!,over the top and land on top off peoples heads, that’s why had lot knockouts with it,really this punch there showing here is a back hand hook,Conor McGregor knock out people with this as counter punch or aggressive punch,
Remember Cro cop getting ktfo by Randleman with that wrestlers fake TD into overhand right
Shit, chuck knocked him cross eyed with that one lol
There's nothing I love more than learning about fighting. Or learning anything itself
Stepping in with the right decreases the momentum by reestablishing a center of gravity and consequently brings one into the clinch. Not stepping in grants more force by shifting the center of mass under the shoulders, though subsequently needing readjustment after the strike to maintain balance.
I love these videos.
Basic physics says this is wrong because force is really just a measure of a change in momentum of a certain mass over time, and you will never have more force standing stationary and punching as opposed to getting a running start and striking.
It's the same reason why a car crash at 5 mph does less damage than at 60 mph despite the car having the same characteristics such as weight
And yes you do step with the front AND rear foot when closing to strike because you will hit nothing but air if you don't... people aren't punching bags you know
Great technique can you post a new video on gazelle punch (leaping hook)
Silvafox yessss great shout
Yessx plßsssssśşšŝ ſ
Also cover the gazelle jab while you're at it
While not great technically, Khabib has a very effective leaping hook. U should check it out
@@ark4723 MMA adds an extra layer to the gazel punch because you can load up on the shot by changing levels and faking the takedown
I've been watching your videos for quite some time.
You're are very thorough and it makes a huge difference for me to be able to do subtle things too improve myself while training.
Thank you so much.
Sincerely.
🗡
Finally! I could stand up to my little sister... Thanks a lot!
Learning martial arts while listening to the rain in the back is quite comforting. Awesome vid as always man
This video is so good, I think that perhaps this can be useful for several reasons like ko but this is a great way to punch like the biggers, this channel has been helping to learn about how to be, I'll follow you when videos are recently, and that's one of thousands ways
Looking sharp Shane, you've improved alot in the couple of years I've been watching
Thanks. I like that you showed the counter as well as how to throw the punch.
Great work Shane
Love it, well explained and produced, no b.s. For the Underdogs!
Just what i was looking for. Great video. Thanks Shane !
Waow thanks shane, ive was waiting just for this video because i always wondered how to throw the overhand right with technique and power.
This is so cool, i've been training on my own for a while. Now ive started going to a boxing gym and the training there is poor. i found a guy who does 1:1 training for £15p/h and he's showed me the technique for this punch and uppercuts which i havent been throwing on my own on a heavy bag. It's a new technique and so it feels weird and i have to figure it out. It hurts my back or wrist or i feel off balance trying to follow his instructions without using my brain to throw what feels right. So now im practicing alone to get the feel for it and i can come here and get some further input.
What you said about "throw it like a straight right but you're leaning to the side so you will naturally get an arc" makes total sense to me and it's just clicked how my hand and arm should feel throwing at that angle. Boxing is exciting! You can figure stuff out like a puzzle but the pieces are your own body :) Love it
Thanks for these videos!
I like that only you guys show how to throw it but also how to defend it thank you very informative
Your content is invaluable and very easily understandable. As a father of 4 who questions my ability to protect my family I sincerely thank you.
Thank u so much shane ! Very quick and to the point and u also described varies scenarios blocks counters to it ect without all that other bs . Thanks again !
Shane is the absolute BEST !!! GOAT
as someone who is beginning to learn fight animation, god bless you for these videos
I almost always set it up with a pivot to the left so the over hand right can’t be seen till it’s rattling behind the opponents ear.
Works well faking the jab, turning it into a left hook to the body and the over hand right then comes round the corner like a tenth of a second after the body shot lands.
Another great way to land it.
Rocky Marciano's signature punch!!! Great work shane!
Suzie Q!
Throwing an overhand right is hard when you have unstable shoulders... :)
Hyper MvM I know right 😄
what do you mean?
@@nicklesm202 I'm a southpaw with an unstable left shoulder. If I do that motion sometimes my shoulder pops out. Not fun. Haha.
overhead sqwaaaaats
@@commentconnoisseur1001 Last time I did that I dislocated my shoulder. Haha. I'm supposed to get surgery to stabilize it. Until then I just have to be careful with it.
Thanx for the video, I love using the overhand right but I noticed that even my overhand left is great and often lands clean
Fantastic lesson, fantastic teaching. Domo arigato, Sensei.
Brilliant explanation, greetings from Spain.
Oh yeah! Now I can beat my enemy in Creed PSVR now! Thank you bro
Shane thank you im the most weak student since i go to school but after watching this fightTIPS now I'm the boxer and hero in my school 🙇👊
Keep it up and pay it forward, buddy 🙏
Always great videos
Yes! Exactly what I had asked for
Awesome tip, thanks!
That's some crazy overhand right ❤
Great video.can you make a video on how to add more speed and momentum in kicks.
The "double-step method" works so well. My question is can you double step 1-3 (lead jab to lead hook)
Thanks for the instruction.
wtf
The baseball analogy is for a chopping right like Patterson and Hearns Where the forearm points skyward when fully loaded. Then the hand comes down and to to left just like a pitcher on the follow threw. In an overhand right the elbow stays behind the hand the entire time, bending at the waist and leaning toward the left develops a whipping/clubbing motion to the arm and usually results in a natural stance switch. The follow through the to a chopping right will still keep range because the arm stays between the opponents where an over hands usually ends up behind the opponents shoulder and not impeding the forward momentum bring the striker in close. In MMA Habib N. used this strike perfectly vs Conor M disguised as a shoot.
Personal Life advice: Make sure to hit correctly the rotation, It Can fuck your shoulder up Forever. At 19 I got both of my shoulder unstable. From Street fights.
Thanks gonna go start a fight to test this.
Awesome stuff.
Another good video
What about the "windmill" style overhand that Dan Henderson used very famously. I know they might be unpractical in boxing but for MMA it worked brilliantly!
Gonna try this out today😁
1. like throwing a baseball, over their hand and hit their ear area
2. when their jab is touching you, throw it. don't have to step forward if touching you
3. throw it while stepping forward with 1 or both feet. take head out of centerline while throwing overhand, weight on lead foot
4. their straight right will beat your overhand
5. lean head back to avoid the overhand right, can block with wrist up to ear (but will still do dmg)
6. gate block: can raise arm and hit their forearm with elbow, tuck chin and protect with shoulder
good video again. great channel!!!!
Ricardo my boi 💪🏼
Wow bro his is helpful thank you!
I love references to Fedor.
Great explication.
Great stuff Shane. Question: Do you find you sacrifice power when you catch up with your back leg rather than leaving it behind?
Yes. If I was throwing the punch against something I 100% knew I would hit, I would keep my base wide. But in a fight, nothing is guaranteed, so I never over-commit on anything.
Top man Shane
Great video, and kudos to Ricardo's fight nickname - "El Super"...Mercado - clever lol
Hi Shane I love your videos. Could you also make an video on how to counter an overhand right?
no
A perfect exam of this is tyfun ozcan vs Andy swear enfusion. The most beautiful and clean overhand you’ll see. Worth a watch!!!!!!!
Seems like a refined haymaker that every dude wants to throw in a fight
Great Shane
First the footwork video, now this, it's like this channel is reading my mind. Ads are getting smarter!
We read the comments 😁👍
Overhand is is one of the most devastating and favorite!
Nice video.
Shane could you please do a video on the lead uppercut
i use to train kung fu, but i like classical boxin' overhand.
Pedition to bring back the fight like series
Very informative.
I think of the overhand right as the love-child of the straight right and long right hook/haymaker.
Front Side teep to the body and thigh, in muay thai and mma shane, please!
Also, question pertaining to this vid. How practical is an upwards block followed by an overhook when defending that overhand, and possibly getting into a clinch position or following it a right hand, elbow or knee of my own, while still overhooking the overhand right arm?
Thanks shane!
Chuck Liddell starched ppl with this shot
The video I was waiting for so long. Thanks Shane. Awesome as always...
Not going to lie, it's one of those easier said than done things to throw the over and over a job. Jobs are so quick and flicky that usually an overhand right will get countered
Ya...a lot of power.Got my shoulder dislocated while throwing this counter😀😀
Hello shane can u do a video on how to throw the overhand being a southpaw against a orthodox fighter , thanks in advance .
I have stop many times the over hand punch using what you just showed
Hey Shane I'm trying to find the right muay thai shorts to buy, can you make a video on the ones you think are best?
Could you make a video sometime on how to correctly land a punch in a basic street fight? It's just a couple months ago i fractured my 4th and 5th metacarpal (boxers fracture) I hardly get into any street fights but I'd hate to have that happen again if I got into any trouble in the future. I'm only 14 so maybe my knuckles are just a bit weak but I've done 3 years of boxing and still going so I would have thought they'd have strengthened pretty well by now. Thanks
From a biomechanical viewpoint when you throw the overhand right punch do you extend your lower forearm toward the target area as in a straight right rearhand punch or do you keep your forearm in a contracted position upon target contact as you would in executing a hook punch?
So the second type of block is kinda like a leg check for the arms? Also could you do a video on how to do a suplex if you have a punching bag? Like practicing the suplex on a punching bag
Can you talk a little bit about reach of the punches and reach advantage or disadvantage for each individual, like they show in the UFC for each fighter when they are showing their stats. What difference does having a reach advantage/disadvantage makes?
You should do a team fight tips plank competition
I actually dislocated my shoulder one time throwing it improperly...in the middle of a fight too
Can u do Fight like pernell Whitaker , Hopkins, Jones jr , Ray Leonard or Ray Robinson
Is his IG really "El Supermercado"? Lmao! 🤣🤣🤣
Liked the video but just a quick note on the last block. You definitely don't want to have your arm too straight, you want to bend it or block with the forearm. Blocking with your elbow like that it is possible to hurt or even break your arm.
Back to the BASICS
You are awesome
fightTIPS mahalo nui loa!
Jds too good in this
It's raining everywhere even at Shane's garage
Do a knockout combination video
When will the lace ups be back in stock?
For a second I thought Mikey joined the show
That second step is crazy, man. Each to their own tho! 🤪
762x35mm Yeah, fair. I’m 193cm with a decentttt reach, so honestly didn’t think about that.
damn you're as tall as jon jones lol, i'm very short so i don't throw overhands very often
Isaac Mendes if only I was as good as him 😂
You hit with two feist knuckles or entire hand? I mean you hit rotating the hand or you hit like a normal punch?
Nice👊
You could also feint a jab; gt them to throw that overhand, leaving the chin open for a counter.
Hello Shane! Can you do another street fight video please.
